Well to be fair, the Knicks had the Luxury of having a really good Bench player, in Dante DiVincenzo+ an all star in Randle as trade chips. Dante is good enough to be a starter on most teams and so is Randle. The dilemma, Is the Lakers don't have any real valuable players, outside of their starting 5, to use as trade chips. Lakers biggest trade chip is Reeves... And they clearly don't want to part with him. If they could combine DLo and Rui to bring in 2 really good wing players that can play both ends of the floor, that would probably be their best option( or trade one of them for a really good 2 way wing). But no, everyone wants Lakers to get a center lol, in the season where Centers are at an absolute premium where everyone is over paying.

Austin averaged 15.9 points per game last year. He should be in or approaching the prime of his career but the consensus is he needs to work on his conditioning. Average or below average on defense. I don't see him as an elite player or all star.
You’re right in not seeing Reaves as an elite player or all star, because he isn’t. At best, he’s a solid bench player that’s been forced into the starting lineup, because the Lakers haven’t had any better options.

If Lakers FO was just competent they’re in great shape now vs one of worst rosters in NBA 3-12. “Lakers tax” had nothing to do with Pelinka moronically breaking up 19-20/20-21 core that was clearly a championship roster or any of the stuff I mentioned above. They self sabotaged themselves. Stop making excuses for him. Delusion is keeping D Lo and thinking he'll breakout of his playoff slump - which has lasted his whole career. Go look at basketball ref, playoffs tab, AR vs D Lo side by side! 🙀🙀🙀
I'd expand that deal... D Lo on an expiring, which Ainge will like since its a rebuild in Utah - Sexton has an extra year at 19mil. So go Kessler/Sexton for D Lo/Hayes and draft capital. You could do a 1st/2nd like you said, ALSO the Lakers could remove protections from the 1st rounder that Utah ALREADY owns (from LA) via previous trade!!! 💯💯💯 To me there are only 2 options: Walker Kessler or Wendell Carter Jr. Time to trade these precious picks that end up being JHS - Rob is a freakin joke.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Ainge wanted multiple first rounders, and more from the Knicks, and the Knicks said🖕🏿you pal. So stop smoking whatever it is that you Lakers fans smoke.
Money don't work.... Kessler/Sexton for D Lo/Hayes (and/or Reddish) plus draft capital. It's a no brainer to me, Rob just won't trade these picks! 🙀🙀🙀 If not that deal, Wendell Carter Jr.
Why is Trevor always trying to lower expectations for AR and bashing D-Lo? AR's lack of growth is the main reason why we can't afford to trade D-Lo. And D-Lo is clearly the 3rd best player.
Because Trevor doesn't understand the first thing about basketball. It's all misinformation from pro journalists mixed and stirred then spoon fed to a fan base that likewise knows absolutely nothing about basketball.
Austin is not going to get any better than what he is. Lemon daddy should have been in a package with someone else, and maybe we could have gotten kat if that's all the wolves wanted from the Nick's . Randle and Devanchinzo, how ever you spell his name.
@@laker1championships452 Donte DiVincenzo, who shot 40% on almost 9 attempts per game and played way better defense than Austin. He is practically Austin Reaves with lesser ball handling and rebounding, but much better defense. Guy had a breakout year with a PER of 16, OWS 3.6 and more importantly DWS of 3.0. Quietly got almost 120 steals in 30 mpg. That's a small club for SGs in the NBA right now. He could be in the running as a 6th man of the year if he keeps shooting like this. It's a great luxury to have him come off the bench. LA does not even really have a starting SG, never mind a starting SF. When it comes to playing solid defense on the perimeter we have Cam and Vando. Cam is damn near unplayable offensively and Vando had a short season and now double foot surgery. LA had the third worst perimeter defense last year. If we would have had an OGA and a Donte DiVincenzo last year we would have won 65 and met Boston in the finals. OGA on MPJ and Donte on Murray and Denver gets like 30 points on bad shooting from them. Even if Jokic would have gotten 30, they'd have lost. But instead of looking for the SF to play 35 minutes and a SG to move Austin to first guard off the bench paired with Gabe, LA has added center after center and held on to the logjam behind LeBron at the 4. Trevor is talking about Cam might have to play PF, because we are so thin there and lack a bruising big, too. Meanwhile over here on planet earth it proved damn near impossible to get Rui minutes, because we already can't defend any shooters. I mean at center we now have AD, who plays damn near 41 minutes in the playoffs and then Hayes, Wood (even if hurt, he is rostered), Koloko, Castleton and Kelly is also 7 feet. Basically 5 guys for 7 minutes. Then at PF LeBron plays damn near 40 minutes in the playoffs as well and behind that we got Rui, Vando, Wood and Cam is kind of the smaller brother of Vando. He can't dribble, drive, pass or shoot, but he is supposed to be a SF. Yikes. And sure if they count Kelly as a forward, too. That's another 4 depth chart spots for like 8 freaking minutes. Meanwhile D'Lo needs defensive help and Austin can't defend a wet paper bag either. Behind that Max was what 4/2/1? Yeah his defense might be better than Dalton's, but Max is not even top 20 in the G-league. JHS outplayed Max on that team. As far as real SFs go, LeBron refuses to play at that position for 3 years now. So who is a SF on this roster? Supposedly Max is. If Max goes 1v1 with OGA until 50 points OGA wins 50-3 from what I've seen. Sure had he played 25 minutes for the last 3 seasons he'd be a solid rotation guy now, but he hasn't and he isn't. Maxwell Lewis? Please. Cam Reddish? Right, lol. That's the hole on the roster. We'll just play Rui here is not a solution for as long as he can't play defense on the perimeter. The only other option is Vando and then you have 2 guys that can't shoot again. At least you finally have at least one guy that can defend on the perimeter. But then be can't get over screens either. Caruso / KCP / DG / LBJ / AD went 13-1 together as starters at one point in 2020 and DG wasn't even the man any more. Paper thin at PF he says. Lol. LBJ plays there Trevor and has for 3 years. My god this incompetence is insane.

Putting all of that pressure on Austin is like the anti-Phil Jackson. It's the opposite of smart intuition, to take a player coming from a "down" season and hype their next season to such a ridiculous degree that they can't beat expectations because you set them so high. Players love to feel like underdogs. Pelinka should know that.
Just here for the comments. I see no trade coming unless we give away a player that we want to keep. Other teams make trades with the new rules. Rob have more l's than w's.

I feel like a trade for Robinson boils down to a gamble on Robinson being healthy vs finding something “better”(for immediate and future need) at the trade deadline. Both are gambles but which hand does Pelinks feel better playing? I would think the latter.
We could of taken him over Mo Wagner in the draft. I dont even want him at this point. Unless it's for Gabe, JHS & 2 seconds. 1 going to the Knicks & 1 going to a 3rd team that would need to get involved. We could fill our backup pg spot with Markell Fultz
Bronny can replace Gabe Vincent and he more athletic then him anyway so they can trade him asap . Have everyone we need by training camp ,, stop waiting til the trade deadline unless you making a big move trade D’lo or A.R
Austin can live up to expectations if he maximizes his opportunities. Shoot better, defend harder, make scoring easier for Bron and AD and take care of the ball
You have to pair AD with tenacity, not just size. AD’s biggest weakness as a franchise centerpiece is not health, it’s his lack of a consistent motor over 82. If Robinson is an active, aggressive, tenacious big like Dwight then I say yes, but if he’s just big but kinda slow like Drummond then I say no.
Never should have sold out Ivica Zubac. He was the best rim protector in the league last season by percentage and he was averaging 18 and 12 per 36 minutes before he was shipped.....he was traded to free up cap space and the Lakers can't fill the position long term since

Listening to calls for a player doesn't mean you're going to trade a player. There's maybe five players in the entire league whose teams wouldn't trade them. Why wouldn't the Knicks listen to offers for Mitchell Robinson doesn't mean they're going to trade him?
Dlo will be a Free Agent next Summer. If we dont trade him, we could end up losing him for NADA in return Its asinine to suggest trading AR over Dlo. Anyone who suggests this is doing so purely based off emotions imho
@@One_Black_PantherNo, I meant "could".. Dlo might end up resigning with us next summer, but we could end up losing him for nada in return.. Too risky.. Better to be safe and trade him by the deadline
Too bad he's not healthy. He's also a bit injury prone. He won't return until December/January if his recovery and rehab goes well. Unless it doesn't require giving up much to get him (no 1st rd picks or Reaves), I'd pass. Just wait until the trade deadline to make a move for a better center. And just as a quick aside, no, I wouldn't trade for Robert Williams III either. Can't stay healthy and very injury prone
Doesn't work with an injured player. Look at vando. I don't know when he's coming back and Woods and no trading for another injured player would be down right stupid. Which jen and rib fit the nerative. Brunson can shoot better than Austin.
Can I just comment that the idea that the Knicks getting Karl-Anthony Towns somehow means that Mitchell Robinson is available demonstrates just how silly the "we need a big" argument is. Think about it. The Knicks are obviously contenders. I think most of us would agree that Davis is a better player than Towns, and yet somehow Towns' arrival makes Robinson expendable enough that the Knicks might be willing to part with him. Do the Knicks not need a backup center? What is the logic behind a backup center being expendable to the Knicks, but somehow the most important missing piece piece for the Lakers? Do we not see how contradictory these thoughts are?
I'd pass. Two main problems, Lakers don't have expendable players to pair with draft capital and most important, there are way more important roles missing on the roster, 2way wing an 2way guard. Spending assets in trading for a backup center before you solve those would be insanity, he will mostly play on the reg season, AD's minutes go way high in the playoffs, when it matters. You'd have 14M sitting on the bench on the playoffs, most of the time. This role is more a vet min to tax payer MLE, they could've gotten Plumlee, for example, that went for a vet min to the Suns. Mitchell would be an overcorrection to Pelinka messing up with the roster spots, with unnecessary player options and too many kids that need years of development on a win now team.
So the whole thing with Austin is that he had a slow start to the year and was benched by Darvin. He wasn’t able to reach his full potential. It seems JJ plans to put the ball in his hands and have him run the offense so his usage rate will probably just a fair bit. I have every reason to believe given on what we’ve seen so far that more opportunities for Austin will lead to more production. We could very well see him be an all star this coming season.
I will not include Vando in ANY trade at the moment, because Lakers has already sacrifice time and patience for him for his injury. And I believe his days to be back fully healthy and play high level basket ball is near. So trading him at this time is like wasted effort for all those times LA has put into him getting back. But to trade for Mitchell, I would not mind using Gabe Vincent, JHS and a draft pick on him. That's my take.
Doesn't matter. NY isnt going to trade Mitchell. He adds too much versatility to the team when he's healthy. Teams need at least two decent bigs to contend today.
For what? To sit out 25-30 games injured and put up a whopping 5 and 8 when he does play? He’s a decent defender and rim protecter when he actually plays He’s a worthwhile gamble if you have assets to spare, but not the guy you get when you have minimal assets and essentially have to hit a home run with whatever you do with them.
My opinion: Lakers should trade for Mitchell Robinson (IF he's truly healthy), Nick Richards, Goga Bitadze or Isaiah Jackson. All these players are 7-footer. Castleton is also 7-footer but he's so clumsy. Lakers should also add to the roster Jake Stephens. A 7-footer with an impressive 7'10" wingspan. Aside from that, he's a legit 3-point shooter. Lakers can give up Christian Wood, Jalen Hood Schufino and if needed, Rui Hachimura. Also let's all be honest, Bronny James should be sent to G-League in order the give room for those who are truly NBA-ready and truly can help the need of the team the likes of Christian Koloko, Kylor Kelly, Armel Traore.
The Pelinka is like the runner who at the start of the race sat at the starting line when the gun fired, and then complains that he has to run twice as fast as the other runners just to catch up. The Lakers woes are self-inflicted because he and the front office did nothing in free agency. So, cry me a river about the CBA trade restrictions, Mr. Pelinka.
He’s always injured! I wouldn’t include JHS for anybody. I feel he’s about to blow up! But I would trade Gabe Vincent and three 2nd round picks for Mitchell Robinson. You can always move Reaves or Christie to back up point guard. Or allow LeBron James to continue to play minutes at PG. I just wouldn’t include JHS in any deal.

I seen through his bull shit years ago.. he shoulda gotten the kyrie trade done too , just buncha excuses. In the off season last year kyrie was a free agent and he didn’t take advantage of it. He wanted to keep “depth” Mind u that depth was rui hachimura who is a good role player but not a great fit and D’Angelo Russel who was god awful in the wc finals.
@@berserkmonk5331 u talking like this the only move knicks made..last year at the trade deadline they got og annouby and bojan bogdanovich 2 players i have wanted on the lakers for 3 years now... this year not just kat but they also got mikael bridges. personally i wouldnt have traded for mikael bridges but either way knicks made multiple moves to make themselves better. so did teams like dallas mavericks, okc and buncha others. and most of these teams were already ahead of us. our trade assets are our two picks and possibly a player like christie or dalton. i am not trading reaves but rest are tradeable at the right price. the other problem with rob is that the dummy is obsessed with 6 foot 5 and under guards. when tf is he gonna invest in a 3 and d wing. its been 4 god damn years i still have to see a 3 and d wing. people talk about 2020 chip like it was only cuz of the two bigs, we had 5 long and length 3 and d wings to provide us with versatile line ups.
@@phantomdancer3279 yeah the Anunoby deal was a steal, imo. Lots of teams wanted to pick him up. RJ Barret and quickley were 2 potentially good players though. Good 3 point shooters atleast.
And yeah I agree that Pelinka letting that 2020 roster deteriorate was the downfall.
Caruso walks for free because the front office was cheap... And then listening to LeBron wanting to get Westbrook?? Turning KCP into Westbrook is probably the worst trade in recent NBA history.
Just having those 2 on this Lakers roster would drastically change the dynamics of the roster.

I didn't hear Trevor lower AR expectations he's just keeping it real and calling out Palinkas over exaggeration.

Max and Vincent are our two way guards. We need bigs.
We need bigs,once again,we need bigs 😂😢😮
Let the professionals do their job, keep your day job.
Lakers biggest weakness last year, in my opinion, was losing the 50/50 battles on the boards.
Stop it.
Yes on trd for Mitchell R. But quick question. Is Robinson hurt and out right now?
Rob hyping AR couz he know he fumbled Dejonte Murray trade
For what? To sit out 25-30 games injured and put up a whopping 5 and 8 when he does play?
He’s a decent defender and rim protecter when he actually plays
He’s a worthwhile gamble if you have assets to spare, but not the guy you get when you have minimal assets and essentially have to hit a home run with whatever you do with them.
Knicks fans asking for Rui + throw in for Mitchell Robinson
Sounds like a fair deal to me Both teams get what they want
My opinion:
Lakers should trade for Mitchell Robinson (IF he's truly healthy), Nick Richards, Goga Bitadze or Isaiah Jackson.
Trevor basically saying usage rate is the only reason AR isn’t at JB’s level. 😭😭😭
Rob’s comments are proof positive that the Lakers FO deems AR to be untouchable, that’s just horrible management 😅😅😅
Hayes has to show some growth and we be ok and rui needs to play like he did in Olympics his offense spurts will be key
Pelinka.
If I'm Anthony Davis, I'll demand a trade and get off this sinking ship before it sinks
