The first music is dark and more sinister, since the murders in earlier episodes are bloody and actually quite scary. As the series becomes more laid back and the murders aren't as intense. Hence the music becomes grander and more optimistic.
Can anyone explain to me the significance of the door? I always thought it didn't make sense thematically. Even if closed doors an be kinda metaphorical fora secret or "the unknown" why is it like a dungeon?

But it's not just a random wipe or plain screenshot of the characters or logo or something you see in other shows. It was designed by a human. There is some always some source of inspiration behind it. It's not like they closed their eyes and pulled the idea out of the hat. It either is significant to the show in a literal or analogical way or at the very least the artist has some fascination with medieval doors but it would be very unusual for it to be a door because why not a door. I suspect it is more symbolic of "closed doors hold mysteries". it's kind of a common troupe think of like how old game shows always play off that idea but it's kind of common in stories to and predates game shows. Another example you might be familiar with is in full metal alchemist how all the knowledge in the world or "the truth" is locked behind a gate. It's intentionally a gate and not like a magical bauble or box. Who knows though, maybe by episode 2000 it will end up being the door to the "main bad guy's" house or something.
Oh yeah, they kinda tried to do a similar thing with the matrix. Neo didn't get his information of the "truth" behind the matrix from the oracle or a book or something. The big "truth" behind the significance about being the "the one" was locked behind a door.
Due to the unlocking sound for the ad-break transition, I've always seen it as "unlocking the truth" or even representing locked room murders. As for why it's a dungeon, I have no clue. Maybe it's because the first case took place on the mystery rollercoaster due to the ride already having that sort of vibe, and it just kind of stuck.
I mean, it gives those vibes that are of from mysteries? Because many of the most famous mysteries in all over the world were published MANY many years ago, and the settings were in that same time period or before. To have the "Sherlock Holmes" vibes, they put the dungeon door so we can feel the intensity and etc. It's like opening a new case or opening and new truth by solving a case; I believe that's what it is. :)
I would love to know if someone has the clean track for this (without Minami or Kappei saying the title of the episode). It would be great as a ringtone or alarm sound.
About that the ENGLISH DUB didn't even LAST for 1 season 56 episodes and that's ALL we got and they never really made region Free Subbed DVD discs for all 1000+ ONGOING episodes either in Japan.

It's just a cut version of the time period rendition of the Main Theme.
