What am I missing here???!!! People are mad because she altered her own property?? Really?? I can imagine, maybe that was the thought behind putting the other on display in a museum.. so that people could admire it as a piece of art.
I guess because it's such a timeless one of kind piece you wear it as it is you don't go alter it like it's just a random dress you just bought, maybe she should've made a replica her size bcs that dress took hours and hardwork to make and it's of great value, to just take/add pieces and modify it like that this is what I assume most people are referring which I partly agree with too but idk
Its not even about kim anymore. If theres only 2 of these dresses and they're as histotic and precious as made out to be.. then they shouldn't be sold.
Its absolutely about kims nasty ass! She comes and waves her checkbook to these museums and borrows these iconic dresses because shes so lame and boring that cant stand out on her own. Why is kim even relevant these days? Because she has money!
I think she feels extremely special when she wears these dresses no one else can, that's why she is willing to destroy these pieces of history, just to feed her own ego and self-importance.
She thinks of herself too highly there was this podcast in which Kanye says that Kim is modern day marilyn. Kim is absolutely vain yeah she’s a billionaire and really made her way but her attitude is horrible
Kim is becoming irrelevant so she wore M Monroe’s dress for clout and she destroyed it. Then she purchased and wore the Alexander M dress this only caused people to dislike her, for example the most iconic person in fashion…Anna Wintor. Kim’s MET GALA invitation should be revoked.
Not to Borrow is absolutely correct. Let them sell the piece. But they should not lend out museum pieces! Isn't that what a museum is for - preservation? Not ruination?

Why cant she just have a replica made instead of destroying iconic art pieces? You wouldn't buy the Mona Lisa and have someone paint your face over hers. Her narcissism is insane
Narcissists usually don’t care enough about art to do something like that. Preserving a piece of art would mean that they wouldn’t be able to rub it in everyone’s faces how filthy rich they are.

She bought the dress and altered it to fit her. While some people want couture to be purely for art purposes, others like the aspect that it is a wearable art, so they will wear it.
PEOPLE It’s not about the clothes, it’s about the disrespect for the original artist. It’s like buying a famous painting to paint over it. Some clothes aren’t actually meant to be worn, some are specifically designed to be art pieces. And yea, Marilyn didn’t want anyone else to wear that dress, so we should respect her wishes. It was her property, and she should be able to control what happens to it.
If she didn't want it worn she should've put it on her will. Not being an asshole but being legit. Most famous people have wills early for these types of things
That dress was an artifact from another dead celebrity. Buying it and altering it to the point of no return is morally wrong. That’s why people are mad

@@noladelrusso7614I'm a fan of Marilyn Monroe, and knew of the Diamond Dress. I grew up watching her old films and singing her old songs. I even have a blue dress similar to that in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (mine is much easier to walk in...lol). Many of her styles were used by dollmakers - Barbie being one - Bob Mackie has multiple limited editions with Barbie. If you look at the Jem and the Holograms line, there were many influences in colour palette, and designs. The Oyster dress is horrendously ugly. I know that McQueen "pushed boundaries" of fashion, but it's inelegant despite the meaning of it being a "female warrior emerging from beneath the battered shell". I also fail to see why no-one has mentioned the first owner, Angie Barrett, who wore the dress to The (Beaux) Art Ball at Cannes FF in 2003. Despite not being a fan of the Kardashians, WHY is everyone obsessing over a dress from the 2020 oscars? At the Met Gala, KK changed into the gown in a dressing room at the bottom of the steps, and then into a replica of the Diamond dress for the remainder of the event.
She did not wear the dress from the Smithsonian, the one she tried to wear is from Ripley's Orlando ( couldnt get it over her hips) after making a charitable donation and she wore a replica in the end.
Her exhusband had bought this one for her as a gift. People are allowed to wear their own clothes. Many people wear and alter vintage clothes. Though she did not own the Marilyn Monroe dress, it was archived, thats why it's so sad it was harmed.

She DID IN FACT have a recreation with her exact measurements of the Marilyn Monroe dress, but decided las minute to just wear the actual dress. The outrage is not just that the museum lent her the dress, but apparently they did so because she PROMISED them that she only wanted it to make a faithful replica, and obviously LIED.
She bought it, so it's within her own legal rights to do so, and many people should not really care THAT much about a stupid dress. After all, how would it even slightly affect ur life????
@@Thecouncil__1 Imagine dying. Imagine watching people take what you loved and wore, and then wearing it out, ruining it, and then calling you fat because they couldn't fit in YOUR clothes. Honestly, no celebrity should be able to rent, buy or wear historic pieces like this. It ruins them, and gives the celebrity more of the "I'm rich and can do whatever I want without consequences" mindset
This woman is rich enough to commission an exact replica of these dresses so that they can be preserved and would actually flatter her, but instead she is so full of herself she thinks she deserves to wear the exact originals. This is so ridiculous.
exactly. her body is very different from the measurements of these dresses. She couldn't of been comfortable squeezing in Marilyn Monroe's gown. Nor she would of been comfortable with this one. She could of had her own "Swan dress" moment and have something made that fits her perfectly, and steal the show with how drop dead gorgeous it is.
The thing is: She (or maxbe Kayne) bought it. It belongs to her. It may upset people but she can do what she wants with it. And it is a dress... it is meant to be worn even if it is haute couture. The same thing with the Monroe dress. She payed to rent it. It's Ripley's that decided that this is a good idea. And Kim get's all the media intention every time. It totally works for her.
She should buy a dress that's been made to suit her body and not try to squeeze inside someone else's dress that's been made for their body type. RIP the Legendary dresses
She could've gotten a tailor to make a replica of the McQueen dress, one that matched her measurements too. She could've done the same thing with the Marilyn dress too. Who the hell keeps approving her wearing these masterpieces and then ruining them. These dresses should've been kept in a museum, locked away and under controlled conditions.
If it's iconic and legendary, why would you ever sell it to someone who's literally trying to hijack history so HER name and image will be connected to these pieces?🤷♀️
Well when people have enough money they can kinda basically have anything they want remember everyone has a right price and that museum probably did to 🤷

I watched their show. She didn't do anything to it. She couldn't zip it up, so she altered her own spanx and jazzed it up to blend in with the dress, so the dress was open at the back what we were actually seeing at the back was a modified spanx!
Maybe because the dress only became historical because of the celebrity who wore it? If the designer makes a dress then hangs it on a wall and declares it his master piece do you really think it will become "art" that has everyone talking.
@mistybollinger3312 lol Kim will NEVER be as beautiful, classy, and iconic as Marilyn was and it kills her!!!! I love it. Marilyn is queen forever and always
While I do understand the backlash about the Monroe's dress, this one is a mystery to me. The first one was an actual artifact - not because it was the only one existing but because it also had a history attached to it, it was a statement more than a wear piece. Maybe I missing something, and McQueen's dress has such kind of story, too, but as far as I know, it's just considered unique. Given the fact there are two of them, and the other one is in the museum, for me it's more than enough "safety" for a dress that is just that - a dress
I don't know why she bought the second oyster dress and then paid a 3rd party to alter it, rather than just getting in contact with the house of Alexander McQueen and getting them to make her one to her measurements. That's literally what couture is, and I can't imagine them refusing to do it for her (or do it for Kanye, on her behalf, seeing as it was a gift).
They wouldn’t have made it because the person who made it is no longer alive. It being archival I am surprised they let her have it. But fashion houses won’t just jump to remake an archival piece for anyone. They may have been okay to make something similar, but archival pieces hold their worth because they are never remade.

They wouldn’t have made it because the person who made it is no longer alive. It being archival I am surprised they let her have it. But fashion houses won’t just jump to remake an archival piece for anyone. They may have been okay to make something similar, but archival pieces hold their worth because they are never remade.
I read “couture” in rarity’s voice 😀
It wouldn't be the same dress even if they made. AMcQ himself made that
It was a first didnu listen to the whole video
Can we just stop giving away priceless art pieces for the right dollar sign? This is ridiculous
You know their kind, throwing away any sense of integrity for a few extra shekles of silver
Especially to so undeserving people
