Great artists have that thing where they are totally in the moment, and are playing like they are auditioning for God. One chance, or go home... :) Great description! And so true.
It's okay. I have seen Dan Lanois in concert a bunch and he was awesome. My favourite pairing with Emmylou was her work with Mark Knoppfler. I also liked the Wrecking Ball tour line-up with Buddy Miller.
I've heard this song a million times, never knew (or cared) that it was about Steve Earle's addiction, just enjoyed Emmylou's sweet voice singing it. Thanks for ruining it. Must everything be about somebody's constant addiction and recovery?
Unsynched could be forgiven. But this is not even the Spy Boy band in the video. I think it would be safe to say that it not even the same song. It would have been better, I think, to put the audio up with a picture slideshow rather than a completely different video.
I have to pick up my guitar every time i hear this song, the two main guitarist's are really good and leaves Emmylou in good hands, not that she needs it, I'm just sayin I like the two guitarist's...
.আমি শুধু তোমাকে প্রতি মুহূর্তে মিস করি.........😪 Lyrics: I remember holdin' on to you All them long and lonely nights I put you through 💑. Somewhere in there, I'm sure I made you cry But I can't remember if we said goodbye But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico One place I may never go in my life again Was I just off somewhere or just too high But I can't remember if we said goodbye I only miss you every now and then Like the soft breeze blowin' up from the Caribbean Most November I break down and cry Cause I can't remember if we said goodbye But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico One place I will never go in my life again Was I just off somewhere or just too high But I can't remember if we said goodbye No, I can't remember if we said goodbye Goodbye goodbye
No such thing as "better". One's relative taste and choice doesn't allow for the Inspired one to out perform the Inspirer! That being said, Anna does a wonderful job with Emmylou's cover of S. Earle's tune. ruclips.net/video/55csoQ5QukQ/видео.html
Finally found this version. Magnificent song, magnificent voice and truly magnificent guitarist.
Just sublime. Such poignancy in her voice and her initial guitaring is so telling. The lead guitar is phenomenal.
Gorgeous version of a great song..the guitar solo is spine chillingly good!
Thanks for the post. I adore the way Lanois plays the electric like he's in the final battle of the earth.
Great description of this solo - it reaches a new dimension!
2.01-2.28 - magic - wish he had cut loose again later

Great description! And so true.
“ put us through”…
Of course, if you aren’t sanctioned to perform a song AT ALL, then rearranging words is simply convenient to a claim that it’s Steve’s..
Emmy is the best ever......my favorite artist
Love that raucous Lanois guitar. What an edge!
It is a great Song..................
It doesn't get any better than Emmylou!
Fantastic performance both vocals and Lanois guitar. Haunting
Lannister is genius of guitar effects. Love the way Emmylou slows the pace.
such a beautiful song, it makes me cry every time
That woman is an amazing singer!!!!!
More moving with just here singing, she can't do anyhting wrong in my eyes!
Emmylou is even better just standing still than most singer/musicians!
Wow! Simple bliss: Emmylanois! Perfect blend. Who'd have thought? Thank you for posting.
So beautiful, bless her, touched my soul, god bless 😘😘😘
Thanks for posting this! One of my favourite songs to play. This version is absolutely killer!
:] where on earth would I/we be without her voice?
literally makes me want to cry it's so sad. I LOVE Emmylou's version of this song!

Go Daniel, what a treat!
Hauntingly beautiful.......
Heard you first in late 1977 & like a fine you've improved with age quite, quite wonderful, may you go on forever.
The goddess sings like an angel. Grazie
This is a story of recovery. Steve Earle wrote this in treatment for his addiction. Mexico must have been huge trigger. 🙏🏼

Maravilhosa !!! Emmylou, Emmylou ...

@classof80extant - Very well said, Lanois is a stone cold genius!

Landis is a powerhouse of creativity

More moving with just here singing, she can't do anything wrong in my eyes!

I have to pick up my guitar every time i hear this song, the two main guitarist's are really good and leaves Emmylou in good hands, not that she needs it, I'm just sayin I like the two guitarist's...

Lyrics:
I remember holdin' on to you
All them long and lonely nights I put you through 💑.
Somewhere in there, I'm sure I made you cry
But I can't remember if we said goodbye
But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico

One place I will never go in my life again
Was I just off somewhere or just too high

No, I can't remember if we said goodbye
Goodbye goodbye
This song haunts me.....
Guitar solo about 2.00
Sorry … Lanois. Forgive the typo.
I can't really figure out what you hoped to accomplish by mating this audio with unrelated video - but if it makes you happy...
uh- I don't see Daniel Lanois anywhere in this video...
looks like Colin Linden
sure does.... but sounds like Lanois...
@@davidelizabethailles9891 It's Colin.
How sad
Too bad the sound track and video are so far off. Emmylou really does it for this song.
Isn't she a grand lady!
Wtf . Miming
Well the version by Anna Ternheim is far better . Look it up !
