    **Passing Security+ is stoopid EASY, here is what I did and materials used links at end
    **disclaimer: have not worked in 3yrs, but b4 that 3yrs of helpdesk/desktop work experience
    #1 - Watch Messers or Dion's Sec+ videos as material introduction, don't worry about taking notes
    #2 - Now read thru Gibsons Sec+ GCGA book, material should now make some sense, take notes as needed, take chapt. review quiz's to confirm material learned
    #3 - Memorize ports 21, 22, 80, 443, and whether udp or tcp for each
    #4 - Know basic firewall setup rules like how to allow/deny traffic based on ports(see #3)
    #5 - Print out CompTIA Exam objectives, this is exactly what will be on the test, anything thing that you can't explain, review and brush up on it.
    #6 - FINAL REVIEW, go thru Gibsons book again but only reading the REMEMEBER THIS sections of each chapter and the end of chapter summaries.
    #7 - TAKE Exam - The Exam consists of 75+ questions. The first 3-5 questions on the exam are PBQ questions(simulations) so SKIP THEM by flagging for review. You want to do em LAST since they can take alot of time to do and you don't wanna run out of time for the remaining 75 m/c questions. So go thru the multiple choice first and then the PBQ's. Always chose and answer and if your unsure of the question, flag it so you can return to it if you have time. Its better to at least guess then to leave it blank this way if you run out of time, there is at least a 25% chance you can get a point v/s 0 points if you leave it blank.
    #8 - PROFIT, sheeeeeeit, maybe even send me a buck or 2 so I can buy me an apple or orange for lunch..

    Practice Exams - Dion offers 6 for $13 on Udemy, if you score 80%+ on those your in a good spot. However Professor Messer's practice exams are as close to the real exam as possible and worth it, 3 for $25. If your scoring 80% on those exams you are ready!!

    Tough to read 50 pages a day so it will more likely be a month or two for me. Sad thing is, I Aced everything in collage, and went on like a 6 month "vacation" from IT after school (understandably tired working full time and full time school) and I failed it by 4%. So it is more so consistency and dedication to just put aside that time to challenge your brain in those areas you struggle. The test gives you those areas as well if you fail, for me it was mostly the acronyms that got me. IT is full of them, not just security,

    Correct me if I'm mistaken. The math doesn't add up. You said you passed such a hard exam in 2 weeks by reading book 4 times, 50 pages a day. The book has 600 pages plus multiple exams throughout the book over 300 questions. So to read book once you need 12 days. 4 times to read the book would be 7 weeks not 2 weeks. Plus everything else??

    • @MichaelImo
      @MichaelImo  4 года назад

      Sec+ book I read was only 400pages... just grabbed it from the book pile next to me... during re-reads extra emphasis on places of struggle and skipping places I had a strong grasp in. So probably not a full read each time... my current place of employment only gave me two weeks to pass... which is why I know exactly how long it took me lol.

    Question can you get a job with Comptia security certifications only

    • @omicronceti6063
      @omicronceti6063 3 года назад +1

      Yes. And No. But mostly yes. Some people got only sec+ and get 75K job. Some get 40K, not bad. Some can't get any job for more than a year with multi certa. It's all about how you present and sell yourself and especially WHO do you know. In that case you may not even need a cert.

However, I have downtime to work additional job for extra money. Do evening or overnight entry level security+ jobs exist? What's my options sir? You will need to know all popular hacks, SQL injections, xss, wireshark,nmap, routing and internal network setup on a more advanced level because a lot of programs like DNS spoof require an understanding of larger networks

    How much is the exam?

  • @jovictor3007
    @jovictor3007 Год назад

    To be honest any one who is able to memorize lots of things can pass this test , the second part about passing the exam in two weeks that is just a memory dump and you have no idea for example how any of the hardware and software tools or other concepts mentionned on the exam objectives actually work, so that paper you paid dearly is worthless and given a job you would be a sitting duck, there is a reason they recommend a numbers of years.

    A +
    Sec +
    Net +
    Are not worth getting.
    I would start with ccna and move up.
    Then move on to IT proj management.
    Itil and scrum master. Once there get out of tech into a pure management role.
    Once you hit 39 you won't get hired for tech work unless at the top 5%.
