this comment section is beautiful. this is one of those bands that never went "too mainstream" to be constantly on the radio, but still gold enough for them to finance all the next albums. it's was like a best kept secret. and it meant so much to all of us. I'm pretty sure all of us have listened to this album back to back through a certain period of our lives. and it will forever bring back those memories, feelings and people. it's a shame what happened. but I'll cherish this album until the day i die. it's why I survived middle school. I'm sad I'll never see them live. but I am grateful for the music. after all, isn't that why we're all here, listening to this on repeat, still..?

This is one of those things that we all had to come to terms with but growing up with this great of music for me outweighs the atrocities Ian Watkins committed and I’m not going to let that spoil the music. The music is just that: music, it never glorifies or supports any of his awful crimes. And I’ll enjoy it for what it is. Fuck Ian Watkins

Honestly all of them were masterpieces front to back (personally). To this day, there has not been another band that has been able to put out multiple (hell a single) albums to where front to back wach song touches a part of my soul.
Another thing lostprophets (Jamie) has done for the industry, is perfecting the intro outros. Hell the one for this song is actually my favorite out of all of them.

I will never will forget the first time I listened to this song. It was in December 2008. A friend of me gave me the first three LP-albums on a USB-stick, because I asked him for some new music, without mentioning a band's name, without even knowing Lostprophets.
After listening to some songs, I put all these albums on my iPod.
Back in that time I was 16 years old, so I had to go by bike for 6 kilometers to get to work, straight through the landscape. On a cold evening in December when I was on my way back home, this song came up. I already knew the beginning, so it was nothing special until then. While I was listening, it started snowing, right when the outro started. I never heared it before, so I was surprised to find something like this in one of LP's songs.
It was such a great experience to ride on my bicycle through nothing than darkness except my headlight, and thousands of snowflakes rushing towards me, listening to this beauty of a song for the first time in my entire life. Very intensively... even though it may sound quite ordinary :D

I really regret close minded people who don't realize what the end of this song was fucking referencing. IDIOTS. If ANYONE who hears this song was ever the victim of child sexual abuse and had a mother who looks a LOT like Ian's (Elaine Davies) then you would know that it's talking about the fact that Elaine was into black magic and would hynotise him into "telling her the truth". Hence the creepy dialog. Piece of SHIT! Of course he gor convicted! He had to grow up with a mother like that and 'take take the blame and be made the scapegoat once again' because of them. How does the world not think that children are what they're taught. He wanted control over others because his mother gave HIM no control over his own life. Why don't you actually LISTEN to ALL of lostprophets lyrics and you tell me where Ian was coming from in his mind when he wrote this shit. Because MY grandmother looks a LOT like Elaine. And she LOVED to punish me sexually with PUPPETS. At least I had a mother that got me into fucking therapy! I always knew that if I would've been raised by my dad I would've turned out just like him. And he was JUST like Ian. So judge all you want but if we're raised in situations like that and taught that telling ANYONE will only guarantee that the world doesn't care just like those bitches taught us, then how are we SUPPOSED to cope? Artists express they're inner selves through their passion. His being music. So figure it out wise ass.

@@eatass5627 no. Not good music. Musicians write their emotions into song. And if he was writing about his sexual tendencies then maybe people need to stop and think that this song is about hope. His childhood. "When the trees start to sway" "Mark your place in time with another Christian why" "BUT THROUGH IT ALL I'D STILL BE LOST WITHOUT YOOOOOU" his mother by the way. "All you want is to find hope. When you are lost (just sway)" his mother wants him to just sway like the trees. Turn him into her puppet no pun intended.😂 Oh if you only knew the irony of that. People into black magic, know this song? "I WONT LIE. IM TELLING YOU THE TRUTH" hypnotism. Use. Your. FUCKING. HEADS. In my life I remember hearing this song from my dad's mom.5:06 is where i start to want to cry. I don't REMEMBER why just that it's out of fear. And at 5:49 I get this fear like that song was in my nightmares. Let's just say women like Elaine Davies, Ian's mother and my grandmother as well, really need to grow up and stop playing with dolls. 😅😂😂😂😂 if you only fucking knew

This song is so depressing and hollow sounding but beautiful too.
When he sings that it's hard to find a new soul, I wonder if he's talking about his own. A lot of the songs in this album have always had a very depressing undertone to them. I remember feeling it when listening to it as a kid. Listening back on it now you can clearly hear his emotions and cries for help. It's sad that he never got any. He must have always been battling his demons and feeling guilty and some of that came out in his music.

I do believe a lot of the earlier Lostprophets songs deal with this theme. "Still Laughing" from the first album is a particularly obvious example. From what I've been able to learn of Watkins from the details that emerged from the case/internet rumours etc. it seemed like he's always had these feelings and has struggled against acting on them. He probably gave in around the same time he started doing drugs (2007ish I think) so perhaps this whole "straight-edge" thing was a defence mechanism of sorts to stop himself slipping into depravity. You're right that it's sad; the whole saga is a tragedy for everyone involved. This doesn't diminish in the slightest from what Watkins has done of course. He is scum for making the choice to succumb to his desires and harm the innocent and he deserves every second of the sentence handed down to him. I do think he is an interesting case though.

I feel the same, seems like he fought for a good long time, and slowly began to act on the urges until he realized that he was too weak to suppress those urges anymore, and started caving in on them and joking about it, like a town called hypocrisy, the christmas video and the picture of him with the baby doll, it was like his way of saying 'who wants the glory of catching me', even in his sentencing he said he did it 'for the lolz', it's like he had just given up and wanted to see how awful he could become, I can't believe someone so artistic and musically capable was completely fucked up that entire time, he was human at one point, despite the fact he no longer is

I only knew of Lostprophets because of my first bf. He loved them. He also loved Story of the Year. It was in 2004 that him and I and some friends went to see Lostprophets and Story of the Year in concert. I loved it. I wasn’t familiar with their music then and I really really wish I was. It was so long ago…almost 20 years ago. My Chemical Romance opened for them. I don’t remember that at all lol.
Later on when I actually listened to this album, I was always playing World
of Warcraft. I will always have a special place in my heart for this album and playing the Burning Crusade expansion constantly while raiding. It literally makes me want to cry lol.

Because they stuck with me via their music through the most difficult periods of my life. Lostprophets isn't only Ian Watkins, Lostprophets are also Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu and those guys clearly distanced themselves from Watkins and shunned him via public statement. For that I thank them, because now I will listen to this and know that not ALL of it was a lie, just the input Watkins was responsible for.
