Hold the line. - Игры
“Jeremy, Someday, people will tell you about your father. For that, I’m sorry.”
It’s the simplest lines that hit the hardest.
Konrad's apologizing to his son coz he will always be reminded by others that how his father was a traitor who betrayed his country, giving him a mental burden from such a young age.
@@cpt.martinwalker6268 And committed acts of great violence and horror not just on the survivors of Dubai but to his own men.
It's also to me another clue that he isn't really this stories Kurtz, Walker is; the real Konrad knows history will condemn him and he's not about to disagree with it. He doesn't argue that what he did was necessary, he doesn't plead for understanding, he just apologises for the burden his son will be forced to carry when the story gets out.
It's funny how every time a collectible is narrated by Walker, he gets so close to putting 2 and 2 together before putting it out of his mind.
When you finished reading the intel and switch back to the now dead city of Dubai feels so eerie. It's like you were listening to the past of what was the city like during the 33rd's order
The silver bullet line accidentally ties into a real story about Oliver Cromwell pretty neatly - for those that don't know, Cromwell is one of the most hated figures in Irish history
During the siege of Drogheda, Cromwell's English troops were losing, the local Irish population were holding him out and he couldn't make any headway. The Irish were so successful that Cromwell was about to pick up and leave, until he picked up a bullet fired by one of the defenders, it was silver. Cromwell realised that this means the Irish didn't have the resources to hold out for much longer and he massacred them, including the women and children.
Fuck cromwell i’m gonna go to hell just to kick that sumbitch in the nuts
Oh.
oh..
Oh.
They also named a fucking tank after him
14:05 the moment a journalist hunting for the truth was won over by Conrad. He saw him as the hero everyone seemed to see him as.
I just took it as him seeing the suffering and not wanting to make it worse for Conrad
@@vincentvalentine4401 probably became a DJ and stayed in the UE for that same reason?
Konrad is like Kurtz in that he has a obvious cult of personality around him, He's not as evil as Kurtz (Cutting heads off and shit) but he's comparable.
Darden would be the photojournalist enamored with Kurtz.
@@vincentvalentine4401 ? I thought it was obvious that he turned off the tape because he felt he would be betraying the genuine trust and friendship he had built with Konrad.
@@usagentgaming3079He reminds me of the russian fellow in heart of darkness
Those final orders by Konrad were just... Goddamn.
These Intel recordings uncover a whole new, chilling backstory for Dubai. What happened during the 33rd's rule, what was actually going through Walker's mind when he discovered the atrocities, etc.
That was the first time i was looking for collectibles, and i got them all, it was worth it.
13:20 Damn, sheds alot of light on his decision to take his own life
"This is Col. John Konrad... United States army. Attempted evacuation of Dubai ended in complete... failure. Death toll... Too many.
it also foreshadows the ending since when you think about, everything in Konrad's Psych Profile applies just as much to Walker as it does to Konrad.
I never collected all intels....shit is very sad and the foggy, silent, destroyed Dubai is very uncomfortable to look at it looks barren...and Burj Khalifa is shining as always but even that is oddly eerie and uncomfortable to look at. I wish we could look at the destruction we caused from the start in first person..walking through the hell itself all over again...
Getting through the whole game and listening to the final ordering is chivering
the small bit of doubt in the ''child's doll'' intel was interesting.
Konrad's fate really is depressing.
I still had my save from 2005, played it again this year, and was bummed to remember that you can only pick up the intel once. This video really helped me get back into it! I'm almost sorry I did. It's so fucking intense. Thanks for putting this up though :)
This game did not exist in 2005.
@@bobbyhill5701 Maybe he meant 2015, and accidentally wrote 2005.
@@cpt.martinwalker6268 Still playing this game in 2021.
And I love it.
@@sentinel8534 Same 🤝🤝
@@cpt.martinwalker6268 This game actually accomplished the fact of making me disgusted and shaking when I shot an ennemy in the end.
Never tought it would happen...
THE best military shooter I played.
16:30 This line description shows that at least we know what ending is actually canon.
As Walker did say and I quote "..I killed them to protect myself. At least, that's what I'm telling myself today."
Now it could be interpreted that Walker thought about this whole thing when he had just left the refugee camp where they hung Lugo but from my perspective it just doesn't make sense that Walker would have an introspective view on himself until things calm down. So in my mind, Walker didn't die. He could have gone either Big Boss or went along with the Marines evacuating him.
Biggest tragedy in all of this is Jeremy. He no longer has a dad to hold onto.
A mother and daughter literally got burnt alive surrounded by many more civilians in one fell swoop - I'd say that's worse
@@ksrhys- Yeah dude...
Don’t forget Pete Gobbi’s little girl
@@ksrhys- Yes! That is true. I was referring to all of the intel before Captain Walker arrived.
Edit, then again, hearing these once more, Walker was a part of the recordings, so I should have kept my mouth shut. Poor Jeremy though.
Thank you very much
Anyone know who Brian Castavin’s voice actor
For some reason he was uncredited. Maybe he was a programmer?
Ooooooof.
