Back in the 1980's I worked at the offices of the attorney's Carpenter's. We had an entire section of file space devoted only for their files. Karen lived down the street (in Century City LA) from the office and would come in from time to time. This was around 1982

I'm so glad you posted this. The Carpenters seem to have been forgotten on Oldies stations and the young generation doesn't even know who she was or how amazing she was. I would love to see a Carpenters revival of sorts. Their music should not be forgotten.
This year I met the carpenters and they captivated me, but when I saw and listened to this beautiful and at the same time talented woman, I ended up falling in love and I can't get that voice out of my mind.. 😭
The Carpenters are one of my favorites from the 70s. I was looking at the Billboard Top 100 for 1971 - everything from Jethro Tull & Led Zeppelin to Perry Como & Andy Williams - pretty amazing.
Songwriter Paul Williams wrote this for her because he wanted it sung by an angel. He also wrote "We've only just begun"
