@@brianmenear3444 I got a phone call one night on Friday of course and the caller said do we have frog legs and I said yes we do and he goes well you sure must walk funny and hung up on me! I was a little pissed.
That was a good one Kim What year did you work there?? I wash dishes in the back of the place and there was a woman in charge of the dishes that was a little deformed in the face that they didn't want people to see so I had to go out and pick up the dishes from the tables . That was around 1975- 1976.. I was newly married and I had two jobs , I work at Roma s in the evening
The last few videos-the Glen Park Fire Station, the Glen theater, and Roma's Pizza-have hit me like Cassius Clay in his prime. I'm punch-drunk on nostalgia! My childhood home was barely half a mile from this very spot. God only knows how many Roma's pizzas I ate as a kid. Thank you, Storm and Social, for the excellent time travel.
Anton Skippy you are very much welcomed!!! I am happy you enjoyed them. Drop your address of your childhood home. We can take a quick video of it for you!❤
Makes me feel very proud to know I can do this for people such as yourself and have people see what we see on these videos. We really enjoy and appreciate your comments and support of us doing our thing brudda
+Steel City et al (Storm & Social) That would be INCREDIBLE, gentlemen! I grew up at 3538 Maryland St. The city has resequenced the addresses, however, and my old house is now 3539. Same red brick box-just a one digit adjustment to the house number. The photograph on Google Earth is terrible. The overgrown tree in the front yard and the old, Chevy S-10 parked on the curb obscure the house almost completely. Ergo, any images you gents capture will be the best look I've had at the old homestead in 33 YEARS! The house next door (north) is an exact duplicate of my childhood home, so don't think you're seeing double. I know how busy you lads are. The channel's ever growing content isn't adding itself. So I understand perfectly if you can't get down to Maryland Street right away. Until that day comes, please know I'm deeply grateful for the gracious offer, and the generous thought behind it. You guys are TOPS!
I remember always coming in the front door off of Ridge and seeing the pizza maker that would be right up front in the window stretching and flipping pizza dough when we would stop to pick up a pizza from Roma's. Then seeing all the old guys in the back at the bar. We also used to go to Burch's restaurant which was exactly next door to Roma's (building tore down now) after sunday morning mass at St. Mark's church down the street every sunday. They had the 2+2+2+2 breakfast special I always got. good times
Thank You for sharing those memories they really add to what the channel is all about "good memories" and simpler time Sorry I just now seen your comment my good man Appreciate you taking the time to share your memories with us
Thanks for this video! We used to eat there all the time when were kids. And at Coney Island on Broadway which had the best chili dogs! Just great memories!
Thank you for the video Storm .Man it brought back so many memories of me as a little kid in 1972 running there to pick up a pizza for the family and through my teen and young adult years when I was finally able to sit at the old school bar they had in there and enjoy that pizza fresh out of the oven with a cold beer. It was great having a bar that was only a 3 minute walk from my house. I really appreciate the videos that you and Social take of Gary.
My fav place in Gary was Tip Top grocery store. When I was a young guy I used to cash my check there every week with my little girlfriend and get a pack of Kool Milds. Good old days...like that Chicago song.... Too bad it burnt down.
Used to see the guy tossing pizza crust in that front window. That side entrance went straight to the dining room. Used to go after work and get pizza.
You got that right David I appreciate you taking hope you’re enjoying the channel and the memories my good man. Speaking of combos I remember the Italian combo with Italian sausage and Italian beef with cheese and marinara sauce. ⛈️🫵😎🫵⛈️ I think I’m going to go get something to eat now ! 😅
The empty grass lot to the east was where the Miner-Dunn Chuckwagon restaurant stood. I only ever had Roma's delivered. Never been in there, but the other place many times.
Thanks Storm. I have always been a history fan, and have a good memory for facts. Hope you find time to hear some the Gary audio now on Wideband Detector podcast. US30, Gary Works, the beach, and a radio 'airchevk" (fake), very likely produced after hours at WLTH...caution, the last one mentioned is filthy language. I have an idea a man named Henry Beck was involved....anyone recognize the name?
Thank you for this video. Is this city of Gary improving for the better? I saw your other video where they bulldozed one of the eyesores to the ground and you were so happy that it was cleaned up.
This place was still opened in the late 90s. I'm not sure that it was owned by the previous owners which, I heard used to be Italian mobsters. But, they still made good pizza and, they also served daily dinner specials. I used to work across the street on Ridge Road and Jefferson and I used to eat here often. It was either here or Birch's ,which is on the corner of Ridge Road and Jefferson. One thing I remember about the place is that it had real good food and..... there was a HUGE mural in the dining area of exaggerated looking cartoon Italian Chef, holding a pizza. It used to freak me out. LOL
They were open to at least 97. I went there with my Law Enforcement class at IUN during training. A guy with us ordered a whole fried chicken for lunch. Needless to say we got back to class and hour late. Angelo Grisafi the original owner went on to open Angelo's Sicilian Cart in Merrillville near Southlake Mall.
I cannot remember where pepper pot pizza was but I do remember the name I do not think there’s any more anywhere it’s a shame because my mom told me it was some of the best pizza she ever had also
gaylords712.com/greaser/gary_indiana_gangs.html Great videos on Gary. We have many cities in Michigan like Gary because of the automotive industry outsourcing. I was wondering if you ever heard of the Gary gang called the Kangaroo's? According to a man from Gary that I talked to - the Kangaroo's had a huge influence on the South Side Chicago gangs. Keep up the good work!
I used to make the pizzas there! Some of the best times of my life!! I used to get phone pranked all the time! Good time in thst bldg.
I used to wash dishes there in 1976

Best pizza in gary, used to get it every Friday night as a teenager!
Used to work for DQ at 35th and Broadway in 70’s and owner would buy us pizza from Roma’s when we closed at 11pm. Those were the days!
dbdigital57 Oh yeah! That DQ sponsored our Little League baseball team and we always got free ice cream after our games.
I used to live right there by the DQ do you remember the lucas brothers they lived 4 houses down from me and went to school with them
Used to see the guy tossing pizza crust in that front window. That side entrance went straight to the dining room. Used to go after work and get pizza.
Roma's Pizza in RC cola. What a great combo. Man I miss this place. Pretty sure it closed in 1999

I called the Miner-Dunn on Indianapolis Blvd, and they don't have any pictures of the location on Ridge Road.
I bet the family does somewhere.
I think you are speaking of BURCHES restaurant on the corner there.
Later it was Burches...in the 60s it was Miner-Dunn.
Going to give you the Researcher Title Thomas you find out all the good stuff I really dig that ha ha
Thanks Storm. I have always been a history fan, and have a good memory for facts.

two owners as Romas Pizza.. Angelo "Skip" Grisaffi and Cris Haro.. then Bob Long bought it in 94 or 96 n it closed shortly after that
That was the owners son Mike on the end of a barrel 🤣🤣 he's still around

Do you remember Birch's restaurant right by there Storm?
No I don't where was that at ?
OMG! Good pizza and right next to the CYO!
They had great tasting pizza. Was my favorite.
I was born and raised there, it's crazy how they let GARY GO DOWN....
Maybe it’s time for new management. How long has GI been Democrat run?
What’s up with Pepper Pot Pizza? The one on Ridge Road closed a long time ago but I thought there was one in Miller. I definitely could use a slice
I cannot remember where pepper pot pizza was but I do remember the name I do not think there’s any more anywhere it’s a shame because my mom told me it was some of the best pizza she ever had also
