Love him! What a man! He's well read, clearly educated, gracious, well spoken and so so open-minded. Thank you for uploading this gem of an interview! This along with another upload where he burst out in a spontaneous Flamenco session are priceless. He seems so warm and genuine. Vaya con Dios senor Banderas! God bless you.
+Khwaab Thanks for posting ~ We say "YES!" to all those well chosen words to describe such a good guy. What attracts you to his work? Or maybe it's just him??? ;-)))
+Hollywood.TV He he, no no, too young to fancy him really 😉. Although he's got the rare combo of personality and looks. I don't know, he just comes across as a person who's aware of the greater world around him rather than just H'wood. I draw that conclusion from his interviews and also, his choice of movies. One in particular, The 13th warrior, was a brave brave choice that only someone with guts would do. Who else in all of H'wood would be ok with portraying an Arab (and Muslim!) as a good character? No-one. Señor Banderas is experimental and brave in his choice of work. You can tell he goes further than thinking about box office success. He's done everything from cartoon (Puss in boots), Zorro, action movies like Desperado, 13th warrior, Interview with a Vampire, to experimental movies like those of Almódovars. He's a complete and well rounded actor. He's not about an image or always being on top. That's the sign of a true, passionate artist.
+Hollywood.TV You know, I've never met him but if I ever did, I'd thank him humbly for daring to play the character of Ibn Fadhlan in The 13th Warrior. I've only ever bought 3 DVDs my whole life and that movie is among them. I wasn't surprised to hear that it apparently "didn't do well" on the box office (maybe it wasn't promoted due to not adhering to government agendas of maligning Muslims), BUT I wish Banderas and the actors found out that it's become a cult movie. Just check the tributes here on YT and also Tumbler. I wish there was a sequel as, in today's political climate, that movie is just as relevant as back then. It had all the ingredients of an action movie but with the added "spice" of actually making ppl THINK about their preconceived notions (as well as educating ppl about the Golden Age of the Arab civilisation). Also, it was so unusual as it didn't contain any cursing or any woman being used as a seduction prop to attract viewers. Banderas did the role so much justice.
+Khwaab Wow! So great to read your response. Seems as if the movie made a strong impression on you, yes?? And more than likely, yes, it might be relevant to today's climate, but perhaps need an update. We can see the fans adore Mr. Banderas and the film :)))
