    read whole
    Romans 2: 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
    7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
    8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
    9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
    10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
    11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
    12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
    13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
    14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
    15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
    16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
    Luke 12: 41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
    42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
    43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
    44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
    45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
    46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
    47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
    48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

    Is it not reasonable to believe that a truly "All Knowing" God would correctly decern who deserves a fate as terrible as Hell?
    Is it not also reasonable to believe that a truly "Righteous" God would not allow the unworthy to partake in such a fate?

    Does it really make any sense to people that because someone has not heard of jesus he will go straight to hell? How can anyone believe that? That would also mean the billions upon billions of people who lived before jesus and also did not hear of him will also go to hell. Do you really think because these people have never heard the message of jesus that they could not be good people. Yes, I know nobody can be perfect but the ot is clear nobody needs to be perfect. That's why God made repentance. What if these are morally righteous people according to the standards of christianty and they are living this upstanding life? You are telling me because they don't know about jesus, all their righteousness is in vain? It's all worthless because it's missing jesus? Does this really make sense?

    • @runyanproperties2302
      @runyanproperties2302 8 месяцев назад

      It doesn't. But Salvation has nothing to do with living an upstanding life, and everything to do with your relationship to and with Jesus. Jesus said NO ONE is good. If being a moral person meant a ticket to Heaven, then there would be no need to spread the gospel, and The Great Commission would be a joke.

      @@runyanproperties2302 "If being a moral person meant a ticket to Heaven, then there would be no need to spread the gospel" Exactly!! I couldn't have said it better. If Jesus did say no one is good, he is clearly contradicting the ot and frankly saying a nonsensical thing. If we truly are incapable of being good and incapable of doing anything ourselves and the only goal in life and the only thing we need to focus on accomplishing is believing in Jesus and that he died for our sins, what point is there to life? Life is in order to accomplish and improve yourself and overcome the inevitable challenges of life. If we are incapable of this, then what are we doing here? How could salvation have nothing to do with our virtue? What the big deal in believing in something? That takes 2 seconds and takes no effort. Do you really believe this is what we are here to accomplish?

    • @runyanproperties2302

      @nothingbutthetruth613 , Doing good works and being inherently "good" are two different things. Jesus (and Paul, of course) encouraged believers to do good works and, as you say, overcome challenges. Obviously, both believers and non-believers can do good. The Bible says that without Christ in you, your righteous deeds are as "filthy rags." (The Greek word could be more accurately translated as "menstrual cloth")! On Judgment Day, the unrepentant will be judged according to everything they have done in the flesh, and will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Believers will be judged at the "Bema Seat," where they will be rewarded for the good things they did, the souls they won, and so on. I have heard the Bema compared to the victor's stand at the Olympics, where athletes are given medals according to their performance. So clearly you're correct that what we do in this life does matter. I know a Christian lady who had a little sign on her piano that said, "This one life will soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." The word "belief" in the Bible means more than just intellectual assent that something is true. The implication is that if you really do believe God raised Christ from the dead, you will repent of your sin and trust Him as Lord and Savior. Bear in mind that Platt's message here is just one take on the question of the unchurched. I listen frequently to Dr. Frank Turek, an apologist who speaks at college campuses and who has debated the late Christopher Hitchens. Turek has a theory that perhaps God, being omniscient and therefore knowing who would accept Him and who would reject Him, put all those who would reject Him in the same geographical areas where there would be limited, or no, access to the gospel. Seems crazy on the surface, but maybe not so crazy when you remember that the Bible says God appoints the times and places where everyone is born. Turek (and many other preachers) also notes that there were individuals in the OT who were saved by their faith in a Messiah to come. If they could be saved without knowing the name "Jesus," then theoretically, people in the NT can be saved without knowing the name also. (Christians do not all agree on this. The story in Acts of Cornelius, the first gentile convert, suggests that yes, you do need to know the name Jesus to be saved). My personal opinion on this whole thing generally is that it's sick, but unfortunately it's true. I wish it wasn't.

      @@runyanproperties2302 You could say the words that we have to do good but you know it is irrelevant. My problem still stands. All your words like without Christ your deeds are filthy rags just enhances the issue here. If it's filthy rags, then there's no virtue in doing it and therefore, it can't be our goal in life and therefore we have no goal but to believe. How do you understand this? What kind of purpose is this? Why did God put us here if we are helpless? And to say that since they believed in a future messiah, they are saved is ridiculous. Why did Jesus come at all then? And if the ones born before him needed him too, why didn't he come originally? When you say they will be judged by the good deeds they did, this makes no sense since it is clear that whatever we do is not enough anyway so who cares what we did? And the "souls they won" is just making more believers. Why is there any virtue in making people believe? Again, there is simply no explanation to our existence with any of these explanations.

      @@nothingbutthetruth613 "You could say the words that we have to do good, but you know it's irrelevant."
      I get what you're saying, and I doubt I have an answer that will really help you. Best I can do at this point is to give you some thoughts. Consider Philippians 2 12:13.
      "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, to will and to work for His good pleasure."
      It's an oft quoted verse, but it's problematic on at least a couple levels. First, it seems to contradict itself, doesn't it? Here Paul is admonishing believers to "work out" their "own" salvation, but in the same breath, he states it is "God" who "works in you to will and to work...." I guess you could say it's both. God prompts us to do good works, but it's up to us to heed the call.
      Catholics and Protestants probably interpret this verse differently. I've never had a conversation with a Catholic about this verse specifically, but my gut tells me Catholics interpret this verse (and others) to mean that a believer may lose his salvation if he does NOT do as the verse says. Not that it matters, but I personally do not believe you can lose your Salvation. That kind of thinking just never made any sense to me. Once you truly believe, truly repent, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. To paraphrase Pastor David Diga Hernandez, "Some of you are so afraid of losing the Holy Spirit for every mistake that you make. But I promise you: God would not remove from you the one thing that helps you be holy."
      “All your words like without Christ your deeds are filthy rags just enhances the issue here. If it’s filthy rags, then there’s no virtue in doing it and therefore, it can’t be our goal in life and therefore we have no goal but to believe. How do you understand this?”
      To be frank, I don’t see a problem here. The verse is NOT saying good works in any context are as filthy rags. It’s saying good works apart from being in Christ are as filthy rags. The point is to believe unto Salvation first (and remember the word “believe,” as I said, means more than just intellectual assent), and then as a believer do good works so that your reward will be great in Heaven. If you’re looking for a “purpose” to all this, as you said, then that’s pretty much it (from an Evangelical perspective anyway): Repent, Believe, and Obey. And then enjoy an eternity reaping the treasures you laid up for yourself in Heaven while toiling here in Earth. (Matthew 6: 19-21). Sorry if that’s too simplistic for you. It is what it is.
      “Why did God put us here if we are helpless?”
      I’m not sure what you mean by this exactly. You sound a bit like Christopher Hitchens, who used to lament that God (although he didn’t believe in God) “made us sick and commands us to be well.” If that’s what you are getting at, I don’t really have an answer for why God chooses to do a lot of the things He does. As Frank Turek often says, “I’m not the Grand Architect of the Universe.”
      “And to say that since they believed in a future Messiah, they are saved, is ridiculous.”
      Um. Well, both the Bible and probably 100 percent of Bible believing theologians would disagree with you that it’s “ridiculous.” In Genesis 15:6 we are told that Abraham “believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.” The apostle James cites this verse and claims that because of his faith, Abraham became the “friend of God” (James 2:23). Consider also Hebrews 11, often referred to as the “Hall of Faith,” or “Faith Hall of Fame.” According to Google: “[Hebrews 11] is a list of men and women who were determined to follow God. Though they lived in different times and faced different circumstances, each of them chose to show loyalty to the Lord.”
      “Why did Jesus come at all then?”
      Well look, God could have chosen any way He saw fit to deal with sin, or He could have even ignored our sin and given us all a pass (though given His nature of absolute holiness, that would have been a paradoxical choice, to say the least). As I’m sure you’re aware, He did wipe out nearly everything in a worldwide flood at one point. For whatever reason, God decided that there needed to be a “spotless lamb” to take on our sin and our punishment. The Bible makes it clear that it is because of God’s love for us that God sent Jesus to us. Romans 5:8-10 says, “God showed His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.” And of course John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe on Him would not perish but have eternal life.”
      “And if the ones born before Him needed Him too, why didn’t He come originally?”
      God, in His wisdom, sent Jesus at a precise time in History. I don’t know the reasons why God chose that particular time to send Jesus. Galatians calls it “the fullness of time.”
      Galatians 4:4-7: “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
      “When you say they will be judged by the good deeds they did, this makes no sense since it is clear that whatever we do is not enough anyway so who cares what we did?”
      I said the unrepentant will be judged according to EVERYTHING they have done in the flesh, good and bad. I am only telling you what the Bible says about Judgment Day. Whether you believe it or not, or think it makes any sense or not, is up to you.
      Revelation 20: 12 “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.”
      “Why is there any virtue in making people believe?”
      So they can be saved!!!!!
      Romans 10:9-10, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation.”
      “There is simply no explanation to our existence with any of these explanations.”
      So far no one has been trying to explain human existence with these explanations. Why God created us is a separate issue.

    To believe someone is going to an eternal hell if they've never heard The Gospel is INSANELY sad and unfortunate. Teaching like this will create more atheist than anything else.
    The "Good News" was and is that:
    1) there is in fact a God
    and
    2) God is nothing like what you've thought
    Man had for years taught of a wrathful, retributive, sacrifice requiring God...... Jesus came and set the record straight. Jesus said "If you've seen me you've seen the Father", "I and the Father are one", "I only do what my Father in heaven does"
    And Jesus revealed a co-suffering, self sacrificial, loving, forgiving, grace filled God through His life, death, and resurrection. All will be saved because Jesus is the savior of the world.
