I can't wait for Carmen...Carmen is my second favorite opera (right after The Barber of Seville) and it would be a pleasure to see a video about it
I also love Carmen, though I think if I had to choose a favorite opera… oh geez, the operas I’ve heard are so close in ranking for me. The drama of Beethoven’s Fidelio, the freemasonry references of The Magic Flute , the romantic music of Carmen, but if I had to choose just 1 for top spot, it would be Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. I often find myself humming or singing the melody of Non più andrai from The Marriage of Figaro, I’ve wanted to learn the overture from it on the piano, and I just find Mozart’s operas in general to be very catchy.
Thank you ♥
Hoping to see more subscribers for this magnificent channel.
All terrific videos, but if i was forced to pick a favourite for this year it would be the Rach 2 because of its emotional depth.
Come on RUclips, this channel should be already in half a million subscribers
Can’t wait for Carmen!!
Over dessert I came across the Vivaldi & Rachmaninoff videos. LOVED & loved again. I liked, subscribed & order a Tshirt. Thank you🙌🏻
Thank you for the support. It really means a lot.
Thank YOU! for creating this for us. All of us who love classical music but find it daunting to learn about! Thank YOU for making enjoyable videos about the music we hear, and the writers who created it! I seriously want to express how much this channel has helped me appreciate Classical Music!
Thanks for a fantastic channel - love it. Here's to a joyfully musical 2024 🙂
First of all, I love your channel. The preview to the "Carmen" video already had me laughing so hard I cried slightly. Keep them coming! Also, I'm hoping for many earlier pieces (classical and baroque eras). I would absolutely love to see one on Bach's "Musical Offering."
Carmen is the most eschatological of Bizet's works (foreshadowing works such as Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci, Puccini's Tosca, Michel Fokine's Version of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade). Lighter works by Bizet include The Pearl Fishers (with its famous duet), Suites to L'Arlésienne (quoting the Provençal Epiphany Tune- March of the Magi at the beginning of the first, and at the end of the second completed by Ernest Guiraud), and Symphony in C.
This is my favourite channel. It is so informative! Keep up the good work.
YEEEESSS, CARMEN!
I would also love to see you cover La Traviata, it was my first Opera I've seen live in theatre. Lots of love, and see you in 2024!
Thank you for all of the amazing work this year! Can you do a video about Mazeppa by Franz Liszt or about one of the Beethoven symphonies? Perhaps also a Chopin sonata or Ballade will be great. Thank you again for all of your amazing content!
Oh yes, the Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss of opera >:)
Thank you for your content, it's really unique in it's genre 💖
I have a question: Will you discuss about one piece for every composer? Or will make videos about other works by the same composers?
We had some technical difficulties and had to reupload Thank you to: @lisys511 @omg9261 @josephdadey @hoangkimviet8545 @ruslans2006 @lisys511 for your earlier comments
Can do Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Schumann’s Kinderszenen, Smetana’s Bartered Bride, Ravel’s Bolero, Verdi’s Rigoletto, William’s Lark Ascending, Schubert’s Erlkoning, Suk’s Fairy Tale, Mahler’s Das Lied Von Der Erde, Sibelius’ Finlandia, Gounod’s Faust, Hydan’s Surprise Symphony, Puccini’s La Boheme, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2, Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and Faure’s Requiem please?
I also would like Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances too
Ooh!! I'm excited for this one!! Please mention something about Spike Jones' rendition!!!
Thank YOU for this year's videos. I'm honestly amazed at the effort it must take to create them, the writing, the investigation, the countless hours of analyzing and trying to make it easier for the audience to comprehend... That been said, here's some recommendations I've came up with:
- The Romantic Wars (for variety and for something similar to the quartet one)
- Mahler's 2nd Symphony
- Borodin's "Prince Igor"
- Offenbach's "Les Counts d'Hoffman" / "Orpheus in the Underworld"
- Mendelssohn's "Scottish" symphony / Violin Concerto / "A Midsummer's Night Dream"
- de Falla's "El Amor Brujo"
- Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" / "Peter Grimes"
- Sibelius' "Finlandia"
- Brahms' "Hungarian Dances" / 1st Symphony / Violin Concerto (or anything else from him)
- Paganinni's "21 cappricios"
- Ravel's "Bolero" / Piano Concerto / "La Valse"
- Shostakovich's 5th Symphony / 7th Symphony / 11th Symphony / 2nd Piano Concerto
- Liszt's "Totentanz" / Mephisto Dances (or anything else from him)
- Chopin's Preludes / Ballades (or anything else from him)
- Bruckner's ANY Symphony
Ok, maybe that's a lot 😅, but any of these would do. Thank you 😉
ALL Mahler symphonies + Der lied Von das erde plssss❤❤
absolutely the best music channel on youtube, congrats on 65k, y'all deserve the best 🎉
Love your videos!!! Thank you for all you do!!! Looking forward to seeing more!!
Thank you very much! I really love classical music too.
Mine prefs are
Camille Saint-Saëns - because of the animals and the animation
Antonio Vivaldi - because i didn't know the story behind it
also George Gershwin story, was very interesting yet not that dramatical as Vivaldi
Thank you for everything for teaching us to understand the music❤
Perfect! Also worth doing Hänsel and Gretel. Il barbiere di Seviglia, La traviata.
Hansel n gretel by humperdinck?
I love your videos and your humour and voice!!! Thank you for explaining the great classical pieces in such a holistic way 🌺🌸🙏 Happy new year!
The old animation style for this channel was so much better. RIP.
Have been trying to convince my friends classical music is cool. Thanks so much ❤
*Thanks for the Content!*
Oh hell yeah, I'm totally getting one of those mugs. Everyone is my office is gonna know I love Debussy!
I suggest porgy and bess its really unappreciated and not many people knows about it
im glad this channel is growing, it made me fancy!
Looking forward to seeing what you talked about in 2024. I am curious, are there any plans to talk about more contemporary works ? And by contemporary I mean like 1980 onward? Love all the pieces that you have talked about, I just think that when we talked about classical music it's easy to forget that we are still writing this music into the present day
Amazing job. Happy 2024!
You too!
@@ClassicsExplained can you the Barber of Seville, Rigoletto, Bartered Bride and Norma operas?
hell yeah carmen suite
Plus 1 more subscriber. I discovered this today, and enjoyed it.
Welcome!
Have you considered adding subtitles in different languages to make your videos more accessible ?
Yay, more opera!!!!!! And one of the best in the repertoire, at that, I can't wait!! (just one little complaint, the g-word is an offensive slur, so it's important in this day and age to try and use more inclusive language...)
you should make a video on liszts b minor sonata. please
We lost a bunch of comments - here they are below - we appreciate all your feedback and suggestions -
@andrewinnj Thanks for all the great content! I would love to see you make a video covering the Big 5 violin concertos.

Mahler Symphony No. 2?
Just subbed for the $2 monthly
Can't wait for literally every single comment to be about FNAF

Somehow the auto-generator is not wanting you to have success X-D
Carmen looks sexy
I do love Carmen but I'd say Salome is the spiciest opera.
Or the most deranged and amoral actually.
But habanera does sound a bit like habanero
Haha good point! (love your vids btw)
If it’s not too late, might it be possible to briefly touch on the racism present in the opera? Anti-Roma discrimination is very much extant but is rarely touched upon in media.
ce rasism visezi?? eu nu vad niciun rasism in opera asta...esti cumva liberal? :))
Thanks for this - we did consider this for the video but felt it would be unfair lip service to only mention it briefly in the video. However, we would happily do a to-camera short on this important topic
@@ClassicsExplained Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
@@andreivulpescu503 the video has already been made and it doesn't say anything about what you wanted. Now cry ☺
@@alex9920iasi You do know that an 8 year old girl was crushed to death in a door and nobody tried to help her because she was Romani, right? Anyone with a heart would be deeply upset over that.
Besides, the reason Romanian music functions the way it does at all is because essentially it is Romani music. The way the Doina is constructed has parallels to the makam of Turkish classical music, the influence of which was borne to Romania by the migration of the Romani people. If you've ever been moved by Enescu's 3rd violin sonata, or even Porumbescu's Balada, you're being moved by something intrinsically related to Romani music. And I would hope that would be enough to prove to anyone that they are humans, just like us, that they have friends and families, people they love and care for.
not a great intro to the channel for me... 20 seconds of preview content, and the rest pushing merch, meh...
We have loads of full episodes on our channel!
Oh no is this going to be a racist opera? I knew one had to exist but that you would cover it.well you did talk about vogner with out bringing up his faults so I'm not all too surprised, but I hope at least point out a that these are stereotypes and b why they are harmful. Something simple like that
Thanks for this - we use the to-camera short videos to delve deeper into these questions. I hope you have had a chance to take a look at them - they attempt to go deeper than the overview animated videos :)
@@ClassicsExplained are those the live action videos on your channel?
for real? You are too young to understand opera, I can tell that after the content you post...better go back to your cereal, apple juice and cartoons instead.
@@alex9920iasi uhm no, first of all how can you tell how old I am, and how old does one have to be exactly? Because I am an adult legally. And I'm not going to let strangers online gate keep opera of all things and if me voiceing constructive feedback on a RUclips video about a potential SLUR! Offended you I'm sorry about that my good sir and or madam but maybe you're the child. Have a nice day
