Like mentioned earlier, the first video surging/bucking isn't so much the clutch. That is fueling, throttle body balance, and TPS settings. The metallic clacking noise can be the clutch basket. That comes from wear by the steel plate that you can see inside the basket holding the springs. This is the root cause of chudder. There will also be wear in the aluminum to steel gear bearing. This causes an imbalance in all the parts and adds to vibration. Installing a new OEM clutch basket fixes things for a while, but the new ones still have the same internal design problems. They wear out again all to soon. Modifying the baskets can make them smoother than new, and they don't wear out.

What you showed in the other video is not chudder. Balance the throttle bodies and set the TPS position. If it still surges check the TPS with an oscilloscope, these bikes won't throw a code when it goes bad.

Yes that makes sense... Now I know of slipper clutches and I have a rough idea how they work but what are the chances that you could do a video on the different types and how they work in your easy to understand/white board type way.
If you haven't done it already.
BTW, the springs in your clutch maybe a bit tired but not tired enough for you to move with your hands.
Cheers, keep up the great videos 👍👍

Are you stripping your clutch out because of the low speed surging, my son's sv 1000s is same as your model, he had the same problem, we balanced the throttle bodies and the surging went!

If its the same as mine theres quite a bit of vibration through the clutch when accelerating between 1500 and 3500 revs.known as clutch chudder.pain in the arse it is

Probably worth getting the slipper welded up while you have it out, like they do on the TL's.

Rattle is probably the dowel pin on the back of the clutch basket, rattling like a bugger in neutral and clutch out?

the ocd in me would have located the opening in that circlip exactly one hundred and eighty degrees from that shear pin :-p

That stupid clutch is perfectly fine as far I can see and the new clutch a waste of money... You can sell the old one.

my v strom chudders like a motherfucker, taken the clutch basket out and drilled/pressed the rivets out, the defects I've found are
that the springs where loose in the guides and the bearing surfaces between the aluminium clutch basket and the steel gear was rough (not ground or otherwise finished) and had excess clearance and was out of round.

I once braked into a 90 degree corner so hard that the back wheel was barely touching the tarmac, two up as well.
Didn’t need a slipper clutch then, that was when I was mad on 2 wheels
