I saw this movie as a summer rerun in 1962 when I was 11 years old- it rocked my socks. The effects and story still stand up today! A largely unrecognized and fairly low budget classic. This is a nice little edited collage & the music works OK for me too.

I read the book and it goes more into detail how he looses his humanity the smaller he gets. How his family slowly don't see him as a person anymore. The smaller he gets he becomes an object to them. Eventually he fits into the palm of his wife's hand and needs to be carried from place to place. He has a five year old daughter who begins to see him as a toy. Even snatching him from the floor and nearly crushing him to death in the process. The little girl becomes so dangerous to him she can't be allowed near him. He becomes totally dependent on Giants for his survival. He shrinks until his giant family looses track of him.

My fave SF flick of the 50's and I've seen them all. The ending is what made it....cosmic and inspirational in a way no movie has been before or since.

Amazing! The film does not know him but it is certainly to be seen! I love these stories a little on the edge of reality! Distressing the finish! The man for once and powerless. A man hunted and careful to guard against a cat and a spider insignificant! 5 and added in playlist!

The newsreader said that the cat was now a FORMER pet of the Carey home, so Louise must have got rid it after she thought it had scoffed her husband.... The lovely spider, alas, will no longer be scampering around the Carey cellar. 😢

This is one of my all time favorite classics! Very clever special effects and great stioryline. I have been searching several websites for the DVD original. The cheapest I found was $17.00 plus $3.99 shipping. eBay was $22.00...this is an old movie. Since it is a classic I'm guessing they are charging more. I want a new DVD of this black and white film at a reasonable price....Any suggestions? Thanks for posting.

My mate laughed when I told them I was planning to become slimmer with just implementing Okibetonic Secrets, but after I showed them amazing results after I used it they're begging me to share with them about it. Of course I won't tell them the details about this diet plan, lol

...That wasn't his point, he was talking about the "character" that the cat plays, not the cat itself.

Are you saying that in the near future, when we see your films as a director, we can only expect final scenes of Hitchcock's " Birds" and we will have to leave the cinema without knowing the end?
