I think there are two sides of the coin. Criticism for this or past Govt and its policies are and were always happened in India as that's required for a healthy democracy, But there is a very thin line between criticizing Govt or working against the Country and being a catalyst to disharmony in a nation, and I think no one wants to encourage any such activities against the any country's integrity and unity isn't it?
But there's also a need to protect people. So that reaction needs to be very cautious. And very justified. And in general it's bad for a political party to disparage other groups of people based on characteristics like religion. Make sure that thin line idea isn't just what the government says a lot to ingrain it in people, or a flimsy justification. And like you said, for a healthy democracy, push back is good. If those people feel aggrieved they should push back. With everyone making sure the government isn't using it's power unfairly to influence that pushback.

I think there are two sides of the coin. Criticism for this or past Govt and its policies are and were always happened in India as that's required for a healthy democracy, But there is a very thin line between criticizing Govt or working against the Country and being a catalyst to disharmony in a nation, and I think no one wants to encourage any such activities against the any country's integrity and unity isn't it?
But there's also a need to protect people. So that reaction needs to be very cautious. And very justified.
And in general it's bad for a political party to disparage other groups of people based on characteristics like religion.
Make sure that thin line idea isn't just what the government says a lot to ingrain it in people, or a flimsy justification.
And like you said, for a healthy democracy, push back is good.
If those people feel aggrieved they should push back. With everyone making sure the government isn't using it's power unfairly to influence that pushback.

Is RT permitted to operate in Germany? Have you noticed the China-baiting that is going on in the West- removing Chinese companies from contracts, arresting professors for taking Chinese money for their labs, etc.. mass surveillance of citizens, tapping into the phones of editors and journalists (check out the case of Associated Press in the US). Have these measures resulted in Germany being labelled as "protestatn nationalist" or the US being labelled as "undemoractic"; "violator of free press" by these same legacy media orgs? No. Another instance: Russophobia is such that even Russian ballet and the teaching of Dostoievsky has been banned in some of these free countries ! Did we hear the BBC calling the UK govt./ society "intolerant" for such eveidently foolish steps? No. And the ones whom you derisively call "keyboard warriors" aren't so much pissed at by an adverse reportage on India as much as by the practice of double standards (hypocrisy) of these western media orgs. These journos seem to 'understand' their own govts' crackdowns as legitimate exigencies. hence they don't rush to label their own govts as right wing, fascist, or undemocratic, etc.. but when another state, typically in Africa or Asia does similar things in their sovereignty's interest, then all these choreogrpahed drama of int'l condemnation follows.
