Great job of fixing that rats nest of a wiring harness. Soldering the wires and then heat wrapping them is a great way to keep electrical issues at bay.
Can you post a video of the muffler hanger location? Mine came without an muffler and I am looking to add one, but I cannot determine where it mounts on the tractor.
I am also trying to fix the instrument panel on my 69/70 ford 2000. I am pretty sure the wires I have leading to the oil pressure light (the light on the right) is incorrect. Can you see where your wires lead to? Does one of them run directly to the oil pressure sending unit?
I’ve considered doing the alternator swap on mine but I guess as long as the generator keeps working I’ll leave it. Most of the alternator kits I’ve seen for these come with wiring diagrams but I haven’t actually seen them.
It would be the simplest. But a normal alternator with a built in regulator isn’t much more difficult to wire than a one wire. Just an in-line diode or ignition switch with an accessory position.
Cranks and idle at 500 rpm is fantastic for a tractor of that age. You did an awesome job on the wiring. I have a 2000 three cylinder, gas burner.
Thanks, they are great tractors.
Just bought a Ford 2000 with a non responsive instrument cluster. Great video of what I will need to do.
My proof meter is intermittent. The square end of the cable looks a little rounded, pretty sure it’s slipping. Looks like a new cable is in order.
Remarkable sort-out MJM. Please keep the Video's coming.
Thanks, so far no electrical gremlins.

Yeah solder and heat shrink is definitely the best way.

Pretty sure mine is hung with wire, how it was when I got it and I haven’t taken the time to fix it right.

from what I recall, it does but it passes through that big plug. Mine is all wrapped up so hard to see if it splits off anywhere.
Think you have the best approach I've seen. Can you provide any help rewiring ford 3000 with alternator conversion.

Should a single wire alternator work the best with a built in voltage reg

working on the same tractor where did you find a wire diagram for the ford series 2000
I found a full service manual for download somewhere but can’t find it now. Yesterdaystractors forum has quite a bit of info.
Darn mice! No cheese for you!
your helper wanted to hand you a few tools, but couldn't reach!
oh he definitely wanted to get them, but he was not going to hand them to me. He'd take off with them. lol
