I've bought one which has a hygrometer in the middle. I'm in the UK but have only been able to find them for sale in the US. Over here we use celsius but the tags in this weather station are in fahrenheit, so I'll have to get used to fahrenheit. I can't wait until I get it, I love the old world look that it has.
@@AnTran-rc8yj To be even more accurate the barometer was actually invented by Torricelli (who was a pupil to Galileo) in mid 17th Century. It was later popularized by Goethe and that's why it's called that now. 🙂
@@fredjohanneson1270 no, this barometer was invented by Goethe. The actual more actual mercury-filled barometer was invented by Toricelli in 1643. That's why noone name this simple barometer the Toricelli Barometer it's the Goethe Barometer.
Bald men have built-in barometers and we don't use umbrellas, just RainX. ;-) Live on the ocean long enough and you feel the pressure changes in your body and know what's up. Nice little gizmo, though. Have a great weekend.
This weather glass barometer is very sensitive to temperature. I wish I can find one of that barometers. I have an Android barometer which is now mostly at lower side of pressure, but there is not any rain expect little cloudy sky, lot of factors are there to check out to predict the weather especially the humidity level play a crucial role to create torrential rain.
lol. Great question. There’s really no reason other than the fact that I was a science teacher and still a total science nerd who forever will have an interest in things like that. 😁
Awesome, thanks for the breakdown of this. I only have the temperature part though. Is there still a correlation I can read from it for barometric info? Thank you offgridders!
There’s not really any correlation. Only that the warmer the air is the more moisture it can hold. You can purchase the barometer separately though. I don’t think they’re too costly.
Science teacher here and yes, this is exactly what happens when the pressure is very low! It will actually flow out the top😊 adding more as needed is easy
I have both of these on my shelf. Along with a radiometer. Thank you for showing us your weather station,Cathy and Rich. Stay safe and stay cool
A radiometer is cool too!!
That spot you have looks amazing in any weather !
We love it!
Fun facts! Super simple. Boy do you get some heavy rain up there. Enjoy your perfect day.
Thanks!
I've always liked those kind of temperature measurers.
They are pretty cool!
Very cool will order through you link soon. Thanks for sharing Kathy.
Thanks for watching and always being so supportive :-)
Amazing and very interesting whole video - it was nice to see it - Thank you so much for everything!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Its definitely interesting thumbs up my fnd,,👍
Appreciate that :-)
Good times, great learning...
Thanks 👍
Nice weather station
Thanks for watching!

I never thought about that, they should offer them in Celsius too! Maybe just keep a small printout conversation chart nearby
Good morning 🌞 Right now your weather station must be calling for a lots of rains 😊👍 Cheers !!!
Morning! Yes it was!
@@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid 👍🙄
This is really cool. Even though we aren’t off grid, that would be really neat to have. Thanks for sharing, have a good weekend!
Honestly we have always had one both on and off grid!!
Galileo was a genius. I love the stuff that man invented.
Ditto!!
Technically the barometer in this video was the work of Goethe but indeed Galileo was a genius.

Thanks for sharing.. Hadn't seen the globe before. Hope you guys are staying well. Full view and Like..
It is cool! Wife looks at it all the time. Thanks :-)
Got it!
Nice!
Good video
Hello most i have seen have maybe half a globe full Looks little better with more fluid it it

Wife feels the pressure in her joints so know what ya mean! You have a great weekend too!
Nothing to do you guys! But the cows and horses know too
I can't stress how well this simple weather station works!! Up to the minute weather predictions are essential in the mountains :-)

hi
In curious why you use a sound meter out camping. perhaps a dumb question but Iv only seem them on job sites awhile back

Just found your channel. Very informative. Question, your accent sounds like mine ( Rhode Island ) are you from New England?
Thanks! Originally from Long Island but now in the Adirondacks 😊
I see the rain brought a cold front in...
There was not much fluid in your storm glass. How far do you fill it when you renew the fluid?
I’ll usually use the special plunger to fill it about half way into the globe
When you refill the pressure system, do you have to add pressure inside the bowl, take some out or just leave it at current pressure
You don’t need to do anything. It will do it on its own. But make sure you get the little tube way up in the bulb before injecting the colored water 👍

Vincenzo (Galileo) was a wake and bake kinda astronomer, allegedly. :-)
LOL!!! Maybe he was :-)
@@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid, he and Carl Sagan - my kinda scientists! Billions and billions of tokes.... :-)

Kathy,from South Dakota?
No, Long Island! 😁
I have one too and you do not have enough blue water on your barometer
