All you have to do is get a cheap phone VR headset and Trinus (not lite) and after connecting the phone with usb and turning on tethering you can play pc games (that don't require hand controllers like on the vive) in vr. I play ets2 like that and it works well

The brake pedal is different, better on the G29 but in terms of the wheel, they are identical, i find the FFB a tad better on the G29 but that might be because the G27 is almost 3 years old. things don't last forever. If you have the G27, that wheel is superb

The lighting isnt similar at all so you it seems off instantly bc of that and the colors dont match therefore. 3. And prolly the biggest one: the background was shot with a different focal length.

The problem with this question is just that: the question. Yes, this channel is supposed to be decently professional and cover new and innovative tech, but they try to inject humor into it as well, making it not just bland coverage of stuff. It's a 50/50 kind of thing. So therefore, if asked to pick which his channel is, humor or professionalism, I'm not sure which he'd pick. I've always been a fan of logitech, usually great bang per buck options and very rarely let me down (mice,keyboards,G27,etc.) BUT this G29 stunt is just ruthless. Treating people like they are complete idiots is not ok. The G29 should be entering the market at the exactly the same price as the G27 as it is just that. Nowadays this wheel (i got it myself) is on amazon for 200 bucks... At least here in germany. Its really a very very good wheel. Even got it running in Dirt3 with some filechanges and Dirt rally ofc supports it natively... HOLY even NFSU2 supports it with full FFB Even when you get a discount for under 300 bucks IT IS WORTH IT!

What this does well more than anything, is its probably by far the best value wheel for the price. Sure the MSRP is $400, and at that price get a T300. But it's rare I see them anywhere near that here in the UK. Usually around £200. I paid £210 for mine with the shifter from Amazon last year, and at that price its hard to beat.The Thrustmaster T300 is a better wheel, but to get everything you get with this it works out considerably more expensive. Especially when you take in to account it comes with a set of crappy plastic pedals thet aren't a whole lot better than what Logitech were providing with the old Driving Force GT, and when you get the set with the better pedals your almost T500RS territory. What you get with a G29 is a solid set that allows you to experience any driving sim the way it was meant to be played, and used with a good game provides a pretty accurate experience. It's probably not for hardcore competitive sim racers, but for your average gamer who enjoys driving games you can do much worse, and probably wouldn't really notice or make use of the benefits from its more expensive rivals.
I have an T150 RS Pro and made my self an adapter for the logitech shifter but the shifter is absolutely awful. Feels like a toy. So if you think of making an adapter buy the TH8A. It's way better.

Great vid, as always. I own a G27 (didn't have the money to go with something like Thrustmaster) and I am quite happy with it. The worst thing about it is probably the imperfection of the force feedback system. If you set it just slightly too high, it may start producing loud clanking sounds, but at lower FF settings, perfectly fine. In my opinion, G29 is quite overpriced for the list of its features.
lol a G27 is exactly the same as this, only better and cheaper. Here you have to buy a shifter which doesn't even have buttons on it. The G29 is really the same as the G27, only more expensive...
LinusTechTips Hey guys! You forgot (or maybe it was intentional) to mention that you still have to buy the gear shifter for the G29 as an extra accessory - whereas it came with the G27. So I feel the price is a bit too steep for what you get. I bought my G27 back in 2011 for around $300 and it still works like a dream. I've used it a ton too.
Andrew Rogister I am pretty sure once you have benchmarked and reviewed one 980ti you have seen them all. Having a different cooler does not make it worth a second look.
I feel like In a few years, hardware like this pared with VR Headsets and the right software could lead to an amazing way to practice driving during driving tests.
i used my g29 with h-pattern shifter and valve index to help me pass my exam through iracing and asseto corsa. i took it in my Subaru STI and passed flawlessly in "a very confident and comfortable driver"
For PC users, I would honestly stick with the G27. It is mostly, if not exactly the same, specs and is really only for next gen applications. I mean really, $400 price tag? You can get a used G27 on Craigslist, I found one new in its box, for around $150-200. Half the price for really the exact same wheel, only not compatible with XBONE and PS4. But thats really not an issue for PC gamers. Just my 2cents.

Totally disagree with wheels moving out of the table! I've been using these for ages on different type of surfaces and not once it moved. I think that isn't the issue perhaps work on your forearm muscles and maybe tie it a little stronger.
back to my 360 pad for pc, because i can't have a wheel dedicated room. and because it's useless when you play only 1 hour per week. but i keep my g27 in my garage, it still can be useful one day !
Even worse. A G27 rebadged, with a slightly stronger motor, but no H pattern shifter (it's sold separately on the G29) and gross Playstation controls all over it.
Just to let everyone know, the screws for mounting are not, "standard." They are specifically: M6X1 (6mm with a thread pitch of 1) Luckily I had two laying around that worked when I test fitted them for my G27, but when I used a cheap desk to mount the whole unit I had to search the internet because I didn't know the name for about an hour and then go to the hardware store to pick them up. Thought I would save at least one person the trouble of searching, lol. Just to Review: I've only had my G27 for about 5 months now, however, I have put it through hell and back during racing. I'm probably one of the most aggressive people with a wheel out there, and it's held up fantastically. I surely can say that the gear mechanism isn't fantastic, but I'm so aggressive with it I can barely feel any difference to that of a real car (besides power-steering and whatever). The shifter I've noticed has become a little loose, meaning broken in, in a way, I guess? It's definitely not bad, it's pretty much a short shifter with a lot of angle. The pedals are still great. The way I have them mounted, the actual mount moves a little bit, so that sucks, but otherwise the pedals are great. Considering the price for this wheel and that it doesn't come with a shifter, everyone would be better off with a G27. I got mine for $200 brand new.
you guys didnt mention a HUGE problem.... at high speed, the wheel can want to force left a bit, then right, then left, then right. its a problem in hte g25 and 27 as well. you can turn on a bit of dead zone to fix it, but depending on how much you need, it can make it feel like shit at center
The 900 degree rotation steering wheels are the best because they provide a lot of comfort and they are mechanical plus they turn 900 degrees full rotation so they can be used for simulation games like ETS2/ATS or City Driving Simulator. They are also quite pricey though but Thrustmaster also makes mechanical steering wheels with full 900 degree rotation but they are definitely much cheaper. Get the TMX or the T300RS since they are just like the Logitech steering wheels but cheaper.
Ok so im playing Forza 7 with this wheel and when you said "butt wipes" I literally slack jawed, crashed and then laughed about it. LOL I wasnt expecting that
for this priseclass, thrustmaster is the way to go. the gears inside the logitech are rattling a lot instead of the belt driven motor in the equivalent steeringwheels from thrustmaster which are almost completely silent.
The Thrustmaster T300/TX/T500 is a better alternative to this imo. Great ffb, but if you get a T300/TX you'll want to buy the T3PA pedals because the stock ones suck, it's like they intentionally gimped them, so yeah, count the T3PA pedals as necessary

Just gotta say this, the driving force gt, 60 bucks when I got it like 4 years ago also transmitts what the car's tires feel in the game to the wheel. Pretty much any forcefeedback wheel does this.
also, don't forget you don't get a stick shifter. I beg of you, don't buy this, instead get G27 while it's still in stock (they stopped producing it), you will get more for your money.
I just bought it including the shifter. New for €277,- at Megekko. The pedals are really good, the wheel feel great, FFB is okay. Shifter is perhaps a little light but does the job. Overall i’m very happy with it.

I have this wheel. Pretty solid, strong, no motor whine. Everything checks out as good, cept 2 things. Gear clatter. Can't remove the deadzone in some games. Oddly, BeamNG some cars have a greater deadzone and some have none at all. Same applies to MySummerCar. I'm pretty new to the racing wheels, so I don't know 100% how that works.

If you are considering this for the PC, get the g27 and do the brake mod. It's the same thing for cheaper plus you get a shifter. Also, for reviews of this type of equipment, go to an actual sim racing channel.
Bit weird seeing a review on a sim wheel on here. You guys should get more into it if you're going to review this kind of hardware, get familiar with Thrustmaster and Fanatec packages so you can give a proper opinion on whether this is good for the money.
a good wheel for people who want to get started in sim racing, but when you've been bitten by the bug, you'll want to spend a lot more money on something from Fanatec such as the Clubsport V2 wheel base with interchangeable wheels like i use, or possibly the higher end thrustmaster products.

The only thing weird about video game wheels is the feedback is opposite. Usually, when I understeer or oversteer, the feedback is a lighter wheel and games do the opposite and make it heavier. I takes a little to get used to though.
For not much more you can get a t500rs, This not only looks better. It feels 100x better and the feedback is superb and strong. The versatility of the t500rs is great aswell , you can mount the pedals horizontal or vertical, and there are an array of extra wheels that can be swapped onto the hub for different vehicles. The fact that it no longer comes with a gearstick is a big let down. Do not buy and just save the extra £50 and get the t500.
Got mine on the way, should be here Thursday. Looking forward to getting back into Project Cars and F1 2016. As for cost, I agree it is a bit much for a mid level wheel, the last one i purchased was from Thrustmaster and lasted all of 6 months before it started flaking out on me. Hope this one lasts longer.

the g25 works just fine in all racing games I have played on pc. Also gets picked up in f1 2013, assetto corsa, dirt etc. (i guess because its that bit older?) It has all the feedback features but the grips are not as comfortable. Id like to see a review of older wheels compared to the newer ones as I can't honestly see a reason to upgrade, the newer features are too few or too insignificant to justify it. in my opinion.

Amateur Pockets The shifter is separate but you can use the shifter (not the buttons since they're integrated on the wheel now) from the G27.
LinusTechTips Hey guys! You forgot (or maybe it was intentional) to mention that you still have to buy the gear shifter for the G29 as an extra accessory - whereas it came with the G27. So I feel the price is a bit too steep for what you get. I bought my G27 back in 2011 for around $300 and it still works like a dream. I've used it a ton too.

Andrew Rogister I am pretty sure once you have benchmarked and reviewed one 980ti you have seen them all. Having a different cooler does not make it worth a second look.

I feel like In a few years, hardware like this pared with VR Headsets and the right software could lead to an amazing way to practice driving during driving tests.
i used my g29 with h-pattern shifter and valve index to help me pass my exam through iracing and asseto corsa. i took it in my Subaru STI and passed flawlessly in "a very confident and comfortable driver"

For PC users, I would honestly stick with the G27. It is mostly, if not exactly the same, specs and is really only for next gen applications. I mean really, $400 price tag? You can get a used G27 on Craigslist, I found one new in its box, for around $150-200. Half the price for really the exact same wheel, only not compatible with XBONE and PS4. But thats really not an issue for PC gamers. Just my 2cents.

The G29 is way too expensive, Logitech must be mad. Its basically a G27 without the shifter for $100 more!

Totally disagree with wheels moving out of the table! I've been using these for ages on different type of surfaces and not once it moved.
I think that isn't the issue perhaps work on your forearm muscles and maybe tie it a little stronger.

Even worse. A G27 rebadged, with a slightly stronger motor, but no H pattern shifter (it's sold separately on the G29) and gross Playstation controls all over it.

The G27 comes with the (awesome) shifter module right out of the box so it's just like "Not Linus" said: it's worthy just for compatibility reasons.

Just to let everyone know, the screws for mounting are not, "standard."
They are specifically: M6X1 (6mm with a thread pitch of 1)
Luckily I had two laying around that worked when I test fitted them for my G27, but when I used a cheap desk to mount the whole unit I had to search the internet because I didn't know the name for about an hour and then go to the hardware store to pick them up. Thought I would save at least one person the trouble of searching, lol.
Just to Review:
I've only had my G27 for about 5 months now, however, I have put it through hell and back during racing. I'm probably one of the most aggressive people with a wheel out there, and it's held up fantastically. I surely can say that the gear mechanism isn't fantastic, but I'm so aggressive with it I can barely feel any difference to that of a real car (besides power-steering and whatever). The shifter I've noticed has become a little loose, meaning broken in, in a way, I guess? It's definitely not bad, it's pretty much a short shifter with a lot of angle. The pedals are still great. The way I have them mounted, the actual mount moves a little bit, so that sucks, but otherwise the pedals are great.
Considering the price for this wheel and that it doesn't come with a shifter, everyone would be better off with a G27. I got mine for $200 brand new.

G25 here, I love the feel of it, I've had it for probably 6 years or so. I tried my friends G27 and I didn't like it :(

you guys didnt mention a HUGE problem.... at high speed, the wheel can want to force left a bit, then right, then left, then right. its a problem in hte g25 and 27 as well.
you can turn on a bit of dead zone to fix it, but depending on how much you need, it can make it feel like shit at center

I'm getting one in 2 weeks. Been wanting one for a couple years now, ever since I got psvr. Dirt Rally Vr is gonna be sick with a wheel.
The 900 degree rotation steering wheels are the best because they provide a lot of comfort and they are mechanical plus they turn 900 degrees full rotation so they can be used for simulation games like ETS2/ATS or City Driving Simulator. They are also quite pricey though but Thrustmaster also makes mechanical steering wheels with full 900 degree rotation but they are definitely much cheaper. Get the TMX or the T300RS since they are just like the Logitech steering wheels but cheaper.
cheaper, and BETTER. Belt and gear system, smoother, stronger.
Ok so im playing Forza 7 with this wheel and when you said "butt wipes" I literally slack jawed, crashed and then laughed about it. LOL I wasnt expecting that
for this priseclass, thrustmaster is the way to go. the gears inside the logitech are rattling a lot instead of the belt driven motor in the equivalent steeringwheels from thrustmaster which are almost completely silent.
The Thrustmaster T300/TX/T500 is a better alternative to this imo. Great ffb, but if you get a T300/TX you'll want to buy the T3PA pedals because the stock ones suck, it's like they intentionally gimped them, so yeah, count the T3PA pedals as necessary

Just gotta say this, the driving force gt, 60 bucks when I got it like 4 years ago also transmitts what the car's tires feel in the game to the wheel. Pretty much any forcefeedback wheel does this.
also, don't forget you don't get a stick shifter. I beg of you, don't buy this, instead get G27 while it's still in stock (they stopped producing it), you will get more for your money.

I just bought it including the shifter. New for €277,- at Megekko. The pedals are really good, the wheel feel great, FFB is okay. Shifter is perhaps a little light but does the job. Overall i’m very happy with it.

Compared to G-27 there's no upgrades what so ever! It's still Gear driven and not belt driven like it's competitors! It's a money machine! Why Can't the G-27 be compatible with PS4? I feel sorry for the Sim racers :/
I have this wheel. Pretty solid, strong, no motor whine. Everything checks out as good, cept 2 things.

Oddly, BeamNG some cars have a greater deadzone and some have none at all. Same applies to MySummerCar.
I'm pretty new to the racing wheels, so I don't know 100% how that works.

If you are considering this for the PC, get the g27 and do the brake mod. It's the same thing for cheaper plus you get a shifter. Also, for reviews of this type of equipment, go to an actual sim racing channel.

Bit weird seeing a review on a sim wheel on here. You guys should get more into it if you're going to review this kind of hardware, get familiar with Thrustmaster and Fanatec packages so you can give a proper opinion on whether this is good for the money.

a good wheel for people who want to get started in sim racing, but when you've been bitten by the bug, you'll want to spend a lot more money on something from Fanatec such as the Clubsport V2 wheel base with interchangeable wheels like i use, or possibly the higher end thrustmaster products.

Because it was optimized for the Playstation. Linus posted a picture of the box, and it also has the Playstation logo on it. Its kinda like one of those "Made for iPod/iPhone" stickers or logos you see on speakers or headphones.
This generation of Logitech flagship wheels comes in two version, the PlayStation G29 and XBox G920. The G920 has the XBox marked buttons. The G29 has legacy Gran Turismo functionality, rev counter, and PS buttons like the Share button.

I had to open the brake pedal and cut the rubber stopper in half. There was not enough throw in the pedal. Half size stopper works great.

The only thing weird about video game wheels is the feedback is opposite. Usually, when I understeer or oversteer, the feedback is a lighter wheel and games do the opposite and make it heavier. I takes a little to get used to though.

For not much more you can get a t500rs, This not only looks better. It feels 100x better and the feedback is superb and strong. The versatility of the t500rs is great aswell , you can mount the pedals horizontal or vertical, and there are an array of extra wheels that can be swapped onto the hub for different vehicles.
The fact that it no longer comes with a gearstick is a big let down.
Do not buy and just save the extra £50 and get the t500.

As for cost, I agree it is a bit much for a mid level wheel, the last one i purchased was from Thrustmaster and lasted all of 6 months before it started flaking out on me. Hope this one lasts longer.

Great review on the G29 and you would think from xbox 360 steering wheels era, they would of been like car steering wheels for a better budget pricing!
the g25 works just fine in all racing games I have played on pc. Also gets picked up in f1 2013, assetto corsa, dirt etc. (i guess because its that bit older?)
It has all the feedback features but the grips are not as comfortable.
Id like to see a review of older wheels compared to the newer ones as I can't honestly see a reason to upgrade, the newer features are too few or too insignificant to justify it. in my opinion.
