- Heinz Holliger is one of the most extraordinary musicians of our time.
Born in Langenthal in 1939, he studied oboe and composition at the Bern Conservatory while still at secondary school. After studying in Paris and at the Basel Music Academy between 1958 and 1963 he embarked on a busy international career as a concert oboist. Holliger’s compositions span the full range of genres, from stage works and orchestral, solo and chamber music to numerous vocal pieces - 130 in total, many of which are regularly performed both in Switzerland and abroad. His work centres on setting language and literature to music, as well as engagement with Swiss folk culture.

I hope you live more than a hundred years playing music!!!!!!
Thank you, Heinz Holliger. I have rediscovered you after 30 years in Carmel and you have given me new life as an oboist, flautist, organist and music director. I feel you are saying something very important, that there is a place within and beyond the music world where all worlds meet. "only connect." (E.M.Forster).
brilliant player which gave me much satisfacton with his excellent oboe playing
Great interview of the great musician.
love it!!
Warum nur englische Untertiteln und nicht auf Italienisch, Französisch und Romanisch (die Sprachen der Schweiz)??
