I think I enjoy this so much because she obviously has an idea and theme behind the music. This isn't just bubblegum for the sake of being bubblegum like say One Direction or Taylor Swift. She's aware that the lyrics aren't deep or moody because she didn't want them to be. It was intentionally crafted this way and is a lot of fun if you let go of True Romance and stop trying to make this music match up with that album. Take it for it is, bubblegum with a slight punk edge. If you don't like it then fine, but lamenting how bad it is because it doesn't match the depths and themes of an completely different body of work is a bit tired and annoying at this point.

It's very '70s and '80s punk-influenced without trying to hard to... well, sound '70s and '80s punk-influenced. It still has hooks and it's just overall kind of fun so far.
