Your coverage of the Quantum’s FM/Kernel engine is the best I’ve seen. The Quantum is a hard nut to crack into, especially its FM features. Also, your patches sounded great too.
Loved the presence of Vangelis & DM in your backgroud. 👍🏻 Yes, the last 10 days were sad for the music. And oh, yes, excellent video, as usual, mate, this Waldorf sounds tasty!
Thanks as always! Yeh.. almost brought the video to a standstill when I put the albums up on the synths and had a wave of sadness hit! Hope things are good with you :D
How do the Quantum/Iridium do for traditional basic synthesis out of the box?? The sounds they can produce are really unique for the other supported engines.
Thanks! Indeed its a steep learning curve and I'm not sure how hard it would be to start from little knowledge as I've been doing this for so long I've potentially forgotten more than I know :D All good here, hope things are good with you!
@@100ThingsIDo it’s not actually that hard for a noob to get their head around this synth. With great tutorials like this and a passion for twiddling knobs ect it’s very straight forward, and super fun. Waldorf have made it very logical where things should be. I’m loving this synth so much, making the weirdest and coolest sounds. Best toy I’ve ever owned 😊
It sounds great, and I like the wavetable morph used as a modulator. However, I'm afraid you lost me around 10:00 when you stopped explaining what you were doing. You mentioned that the Quantum is powerful and I thought you were going to extend what you'd just done with FM using some other new feature, but it looked to me like you just added a couple more layers. Did I miss something?
Yeh i don't think I was very clear. I really was trying to keep the video concise and to the point but I had to go deep into FM envelopes in the last part but there was no way to keep it short or focused so if you notice the FM Timbre I created before I add the other oscialltors is a left over from the cut part of the video. You can hear the Operator modulation changing in time right at the start! from there I had it I could have 3 different FM engines per patch and 2 patches as a layer! thats bascially 6 dx7's at once haha! :D
@@100ThingsIDo OK, I see what you were aiming for now. Thanks for the explanation :) Personally I don't mind longer videos with more detail, but I know you have to think of the most typical viewer in your audience, and I understand that.
The ASM hydrasynth and Fave Smith evolvers do FM with wavetables (granted its only the phase modulation kind i think) and tons of software allows you to do FM with wavetables in the same manner, the biggest offender being xfer serum and vital ofc
Hi, Great channel.. I´m just wondering did you keep your Virus after getting the Quantum? I was imagining the Quantum would render the Virus a bit redundant.
Yep I still have the Virus. Its got a very different sound and I love the percussive stuff you can do with the filter and the arppegiator on the Virus that nothing else does :D
I sincerely hope you got better since filming this video. You really should not talk that much when you have breathing issues. It could lead to asthma.

super interesting, thank you very much for showing us around
such a great video! I will use this knowledge on the Iridium. and Fairlight wavetables, what a plus!
Waves hand for the fairlight sounds!! Ps thanx for sharing.
Still come back to this vid, sooooo good 🤘
Thanks, more Quantum to come soon! :D
@@100ThingsIDo amazing ❤️
love your presentation style thankyou for sharing
Thanks
Nathanael :D
found my new fav channel .
Thanks again, more videos soon! :D
Such a great video dude. U r helping me with my iridium desktop big time 😀 thanks legend
Awesome !

Glad you enjoyed! :D
What a machine! Sound at 4:25 is similar to my favourite song in Chronos. Almost steel drums at 10:37
Yeh.. considering this whole FM feature was not part of the synth when I purchased it and came with a later software update :O :D
What an interesting synthesizer!
Very very flexable and has some very unique ideas :D
Very interesting! I am not sure you still own the Quantum but I subscribe in hopes you do :)
Great video. Would love to see another if you ever get a chance. The manual mentions using samples in the kernels synthesis mode? How does that work?

Hey there, make sure you check out my Quantum clip on just that :D ruclips.net/video/tNIpQYThLkA/видео.html
Revisit this topic!!
heheh the 'voices used' at the bottom left of the screen is familiar, isn't it ! :)
Wow, I have completly never made the connection until now... but always felt like I had seen it before somewhere :D Hope things are good with you man!
This is great. Can the Iridium desktop do all this?
I can't see why not :D
Awesome job! I envy your knowledge of this board. Tis not a beginners Synthesizer ! I hope all is well in Your world 🌎. Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.

Only other synth I can think of that can do FM with wavetables is the Dreadbox Medusa with firmware 4.0 installed.. only 3 OP though
Yeh, I think there is something else but the name of the synth escapes me! :D

Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309!
LOVE IT :D
@@100ThingsIDo same here. Still in good shape.

You played around with Phaseplant, Pigments and Vital?
I gave Pigments a go, it was very nice but I really perfer hardware if I'm going to put a heap of time into gettting the best from it :D
