@@arynosu There was a time when mrekk accidently leaked his face before his official reveal and pretty much everyone present worked together to hide it by clipping random parts of his stream and calling it "face reveal" or something, so the actual clips of his face were nearly impossible to find. I think that was a pretty wholesome moment of the community coming together for a good cause.
the community is mostly positive and fun, it's the bad guys which overshadow the bright side

the osu! community is genuinely one of the most toxic I've ever seen; when I got top 1 in my country, half the country's community called me a cheater, and the other half constantly talked shit about me both publicly and privately calling me a "braindead farmer".
there's many nice people in every community, but does that outweigh all the actions of the negative actors? not too sure. a person doesn't quite feel like playing the game when they're not welcome after logging on.

The bullying and harassment is a very real issue with osu. I had left a relatively small osu mania discord server due to burnout and not enjoying the game (the other people there weren't exactly encouraging or anything). I had rejoined like 4 months later out of curiosity and certain members had been shit-talking about me many times afterwards after realising I left. It's just uncalled for and pretty sad people behave like this.

Ok so just going to write my thoughts about a few things in this video.
In your witchhunting section you talked about how Spare got bullied out of the community. I think Spare is at least one of the few people that actually don't deserve being given a second (~4th) chance, Spare has lied and cheated more than any other top player and basically deserves no consideration anymore. He shouldn't be harassed but he also shouldn't expect people to believe in him after having betrayed that trust multiple times before, this was all brought on by himself unlike Mathi's situation.
I also think your WhiteCat section leaves out a bit of important information, the issue with his case was that various unlucky coincidences in his videos made it look like they were tampered with. At the time basically everyone thought he was cheating because of this and even as time went on and people replicated the same weird things that happened in his videos people started to know the truth although the damage was already done and not everyone would be able to see the counter arguments so many still thought he had actually cheated. So in this case people didn't just call him a cheater with no evidence, these coincidences made it seem like he was pretty obviously cheating. Many of these early situations showcase how badly things were handled by the community and osu! support but in this case it's very understandable that people thought this way. One good thing is that since WhiteCat's unban, the procedures to get unrestricted have been streamlined and the community can no longer just get someone restricted because the majority thinks they are cheating (think of spare as an example).
I also have to say that Rohulk's situation wasn't that simple and the side that made the claims about him also most likely didn't tell the entire truth. I don't think anyone actually knows the full truth except Rohulk and the other side. Rohulk stopped trying to change the communities mind because the damage was already done. I don't know the truth of the situation but yea people didn't want to even hear him out.
I also think the general perception of osu! being a breeding ground for pedophiles and weirdos is unfortunately mostly the case because of how comparatively small the community is compared to other places. osu! itself doesn't have particularly more or less of those people than other communities but it is certainly a lot easier for those people to be discovered and stay in peoples minds compared to games with many millions of active players where these things are often at most contained within really small parts of the community and they never even reach the main playerbase.
Also about your "osu is a waste of time" video, your overall point was present in the video but it was very easily missed since the overall language you use seems to be directed towards the general person. People that share your mindset definitely exist but I also think it's stupid to tell them to quit right away since they can learn to change their mindset and actually enjoy the game. Many won't reach this point but at least they should have the chance to.
I also don't know if you meant it this way but it seemed to me that you were trying to say more people should speak out against doxxing which if you did then that's basically entirely pointless because that will at best change nothing other than saving yourself against others calling you out about this and at worst put the idea of doxxing into the heads of more people and they'll do it anyway.
Overall I do agree that the community has parts that really suck but that part exists everywhere and we should moreso focus on the good parts which for me personally have massively outweighed the bad parts in my 9 years of playing the game more than any other game I've been part of the community of. I also don't think statements like "ppl are getting mad at me saying osu is a waste of time when there are worse things though id just show them" are really that helpful because it doesn't matter if there are things worse than this since otherwise everyone could easily complain that there are many worse things than this osu stuff so why not talk about the even worse things that are going on in the world right now that aren't confined to the osu! community. Just because there are other worse things to talk about doesn't mean that talking about a less bad thing is pointless or irrelevant.
Small disclaimer that many of this might not be fully fleshed out since I wrote this down spontaneously, if you want me to clarify a point more then do tell me.

in this video, i have to say, you've clearly put a lot of thought into this and it's very well articulated. so kudos to you. it still couldve had some rephrasing in some places but overall it's valid
just be careful with structure. the segue from clarifying your "osu is a waste of time" video to cases of bad stuff happening really looks like you're trying to deflect hate by saying "there's worse happening", which i hope isn't what you were trying to say.

just wanted to say that yes there are weirdos in this community and i have met some weirdos, but i feel like it's still just a small part of the community, and most people ive met here are really good people and i genuinely and truly like them as people, and i like this community because of it, there are a lot of good people in this community, more than weirdos, and weirdos are just everywhere not only in the osu community, so i don't see much reason to dislike it because of it, what matters is people you meet and you talk with, so just think who you talk with and that should be enough
obviously not all osu! people are bad, I made some of my closest friends from this community.
Credit where credit is due, the video is extremely well put, you addressed a lot of stuff people were pointing out about your content, you also shined light on some examples of deplorable behaviour in the community, presented as much proof as possible and raised awareness against problems like doxxing and witch hunting. The video was so good in fact that I actually retract all the stuff I said about you, you really did well addressing criticism and presenting the actual dark side of the community.
I also wanna add onto the gryph0n situation, last time we heard from him in mania, people had to call his parents twice, the second time they kicked him out and his father brought him to a homeless shelter. No one really wanted to talk about what happened after they kicked him out. Not all mania players are like that, there are bad apples in every community.

Im 17, i also have a bipolar disorder, life is hard, people are way too different and sometimes its very hard to adapt to them. Status and "rank" are the main things when it comes to how people see you(most people, not all of them).Some are full with envy and some are kindhearted and wish you only the best. You, a 15 year old, put up an amazing video showing the negative emotions and wrong doings of them. Like you, i also do not care about other peoples personal opinions and understandings, you opened the eyes of a lot of people even though you knew you would be getting hate. I dont think anything you said in this or previous videos is a lie and i completely agree with you because i knew what you MEANT even though you didnt express yourself right a 100% for other people to understand you completely and not take it personally. A lot of deeper emotions and feelings are involved when it comes to doing something you love that a lot of people cant understand and its hard for everyone to agree to something. You expressed your true feelings the way u felt it was right and that is the only thing that matters. So dont mind the hate comments, you made an awesome video about the osu! community that i enjoyed a lot, so keep it up my man!

If you ask me, the worst part about Osu community is how 80% of the beatmappers seemingly can't function without japanese lyrics in the back.

I mean, the game started out as a game made to emulate a *japanese* game, and pretty much most of the game's playerbase during the earlier times are asian
so Japanese songs are staying as the main things osu! offers, but that doesn't mean that you can't map or play English songs (literally, Dragonforce songs exist)
@@rita-Shi-Mi I am aware not every osu song is japanese, but I wish we had more variety. Japan is just one country.
The ratio this month is 5 japanese songs per day, 1.5 english songs per day, 1 instrumental song per day & 0.1 other language per day.
Would have assumed kpop songs are in the same vein, but some of my favourite Kpop songs can't even be found in the graveyard. Same for a ton of english artists I enjoy.
I tried beatmapping myself too, but it's quite hard :C
@@WhiteZet1 sadly, this game's overtaken by Japanese fans now (me included). Even though Japan is just *one* country, it has enough songs from like, 20 years ago at this point to use for HUNDREDS of beatmaps, and the songs themselves are usually overshadowing english songs because the main 80% of the fanbase are anime fans or jpop listeners..

i was never going to "make it", i just liked doing clears and score farming. i didn't interact with osu community very much. i've still been so much happier since quitting this game. i cared a lot about the game and its direction, which took up so much mental space and was stressful. it didn't help to see how peppy and devs treat people who are passionate. in the end, i was stressed more than i was having fun. it definitely doesn't help that almost anywhere you go to talk about the game is a cesspool. if you really care about this game, i feel eventually it is going to "turn on you", and that's just the nature of osu.

Good video, and honestly i agree with your original message. One thing you will realize is people will lash out when you poke at their weaknesses (aka osu addiction and other issues). More people need to wake up in not just osu but other gaming spaces and realize maybe investing hours upon hours isn't exactly the best use of their time for 99.9% of people (this is especially true for people out of high school). Not saying you should never play video games, that is stupid, but having priorities on what is important for the future is very valuable.

So when i seriously started playing it was cause of my friend, he played a fev year now, was 7 digit yet still beather than me, teached me the basics and let me on my way, now im beather than him and i usually rub it on my friends face who also play (im 6 digit and all my friends who play are 7 digit) and one of them snapped so hard one time they yelled at me really brutaly, i dont even dare to talk about this game that much infront of them now, i try to put awey my ego and try to be a player who dosnt brag about beaing beather than others (i know im suck at the game i mean beaing beather then my friend)

I don't think you're right on that, there's just a lot of degenerates on internet in general. Getting too deep on any community it's most of the time a bad desicion.
You aren't really doing something good for the community tho, just keep spreading negativity, even if you're right on many things, and always making it a bigger or showing the actual message at the END of the video (when you should probably maintain the same message through all of it). Just makes me think what are you really trying to achieve with this :/
Anyways, i never been part of this community, just play the game if you like it and have some actual life outside the internet 🌱
I've watched this dude for a while but I'm losing a bit of respect for him. It seems like he can't handle criticism and always points the finger at everyone else for his own bad takes. Anyone witchhunting him should seriously get off the internet, but he could really learn a lot from those who are giving genuine criticism.
@@EZChampOSU i feel like it wasn't deflection. more like he apologizes first but gives a little more insight onto more serious problems which includes witchhunting, bullying, harassment, etc. though yeah, i agree, some of the criticism he gets should be taken into account.
at the end of the day, this is probably for the best for the osu community. yeah, its really uncomfortable to hear these things but its ultimately true. its always the bad few bunch that make the name of this game have a bad connotation. we need to shed light on it and act like the "welcoming community" we say we are.
Idk how to explain, but in the past 2 weeks (I think), I started to play osu! for fun and just chill, not even trying hard (actually I did try a bit hard to fix acc on my no mod top play XD) then suddenly I skipped 170pp and 180pp AND a 200pp choke (as a 200k).
About the community, there are this and that type of people, in general I think the community is normal (except for some creeps) and even pretty cool (like r/place, blah blah and whatnot).
Also I'll always support you as long as you don't turn into an idiot (jk XD).
