It is ASTOUNDING to me that metaphor of the rock and the image! This is EXACTLY what the Taosit tradition calls the 'Uncarved Block'! It is formless, yet capable of taking any form. Thus the guidance is to emulate this quality of that which cannot be described with words! Papaji is so excellent was such an ardent devotee to finding the truth. Keep searching and you find there is really only one spiritual truth and it is just conveyed in different ways across varying traditions. It’s so cool to read metaphors like what you’re mentioning and see how it translates and relates to another teaching. The weird stuff is that multiple people, entirely unaware of each others existence became enlightened and describe such strikingly similar and clear descriptions. As some one who came from the science, agnostic atheist, kinda “believe it when i see it thing”, enlightenment is the single most interesting thing for me.
That love song he "sings" from about 38:00 to 41:00 is stunningly beautiful. It is matched sometimes by the look on his face: in a video I saw earlier he falls periodically into an intense inner looking, enthralled, which I have not usually seen on his videos. I thought I saved it, but can't find it now. If any one knows the video I refer to, please refer to it in a reply to me.
Interest is effortful. It is something you want to attain that is forever beyond your reach. We chase the sense of contentment that we momentarily feel after fulfilling a desire, that is inevitably followed by the next chase. So they say stop wanting and be quiet. Desire is mind, ego is mind, body is mind. Talking about these concepts mean nothing they are just sign posts that are a lot of the time mis indirected back to thinking again. So just be quiet. The act of explaining it to understand it for yourself is trying to fulfill an intellectual desire. Which is like trying to bite your own tail. Because you are chasing the pleasure you get from trying to explain it all of the time while at the same time realising it is futile. Although these kinds of thoughts are surely the last ? Are they?
