She is stunning, beautiful hair and eyes, but that smile…melts my heart. As a 15 year old boy, seeing her on tv for the first time, it was love at first sight. It’s hard to believe that was 60 years ago.

I hated all those smears she endured. She was of her time. A free spirit. She loved who she loved. Why not? She was a beautiful memory of the sixties.

mmonroe8253, I, likewise, was 10, with an interest in girls awakening, when I saw Marianne for the first time.
She was rarely on TV in America, which made her appearances profoundly influencial. Unlike most other vocalists who felt the need to shake, dance and "put on a show", Marianne had a quiet disposition and a shy approach to performing, which, to me, made her all the more alluring.
She was sexy just standing still!; those deep, loving eyes, soft, full lips, then, that soft, disarmingly sensual voice would finish me off!
Though Marianne defends her choices in the late 60's and beyond to neglect and abuse herself in every way possible, it nonetheless had the effect of destroying every facet of beauty that she once possessed.
Others in the music industry who so abused themselves didn't live to see their later years; but, Marianne has become a living reminder of the long-term effects of that lifestyle.
I have grieved over all that she lost; and prayed for her many times.

She was a truly beautiful girl. The poster child of the British invasion with a beautiful voice. She had the world by the b____ and she threw it away for drugs, alcohol and low life rock stars. Very similar to what happened to Charlotte Church. So sad.

Late in life, several years ago, Marianne checked herself into The Mayo Clinic, in Minneapolis, (?)
She got off drugs, and quit smoking. ✅️ Too bad she hadn't done that years ago. Her voice isn't the same.

She got off drugs, and quit smoking. 👍 I guess that would mean, also, that she quit drinking.
