See the displays from the beach in Australia and experience what it's like at the very first time this airshow has been held in Australia.
Thank you to everyone who came up and said hello to me today. I had the best day and hope you did too. If you can't make the airshow this year I hope you enjoy this little vlog from the day to see what it's like.
Here's what AI said about this video. AI loves grandiose adjectives doesn't it? It was too funny not to post: Dazzling spectacles and exhilarating feats graced the skies of the Gold Coast today as the highly anticipated Pacific Airshow took center stage. Very cool airshow, right over the beach! What a beautiful setting! 👍
Yes it was a great setting for a really enjoyable event. Thanks Barry.
@@StefanDrurythanks for great video, fully agree with comment on need for music. Engine sounds add much more to the drama of the experience. Only one concern… what happens to the flares dispensed during the show? Can cases or remnants be recovered to prevent pollution and harm to marine creatures etc?
I agree Stef - music competing with aircraft noise - no competition and just shouldn't happen. The essence of an air show is just the raw sound of aircraft engines and the joy of watching their manoeuvres... I really enjoyed your video and loved the sound of the jets at the end and the full-on roar of their afterburners... awesome. Enjoy your day tomorrow 👍🙂❤
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
@@StefanDrury It's my pleasure 👍
A lovely winter's day..perfect.
That’s one fast seagull.
It's these days were we realize how big the love for aviation there is! Thanks for your perspective Stef, your content stay's the best as usual!
I wore a jumper hoodie and long gym running pants for protection against the sun haha got a little hot but not burnt and had an umbrella which was a saviour too
Yeah the sun was strong, and deceptive with the wind cooling things down. Umbrella was a good call.
@@StefanDrury no transonic cone at 0:02....
“Almost as good as a Spitfire”.
Good man Stefan! Once a Brit, always a Brit.😉
Multiple Biggin Hill Airshows as a kid has a lasting effect on you.
@@StefanDrury So true! Pretty hard to beat Biggin Hill or Duxford.
Absolutely... Spitfire... Hurricane and of course the Lancaster..... rule Britannia....
What??
F35? Hold my beer! NOTHING beats an F35 flyover!! NOTHING!! Going to Williamtown in November..I can't wait!!!!

Welcome to the Goldy.
we really have the perfect weather for it this weekend.
hopefully we will have this for many years to come.
The RAAF has uploaded their onboard video of their F/A-18F Super Hornet Display! Nice event!
Avalon had the same problem with loud music... Merlin engines don't need a backing track 😂
It was a great day! That yak 110 is an amazing airshow vehicle. You've done an amazing job to film during the day edit all night for an upload thus morning. Great work
Yes that 110 is fantastic, and flown so impressively as well. I love sharing aviation content like this so very happy to work late! Thanks for watching.
@@StefanDrury was on the south side of the beach all day with my eyes open to catch you running around haha
Man this is awesome. Sun, beach and jets. Everything a plane lover needs 🤪
I also think it was fantastic! Definitely feels weird though not having (many) static displays at an airshow though.
We loved your video of the Gold Coast Pacific Airshow. We went Saturday and loved it. Great for the Gold Coast . Love our beautiful beaches . I heard it’s been signed for another 5 years on the Gold Coast
Thank you, and that’s great to hear. Hopefully I can come back again.
@StefanDrury I wish I knew you where here.. I could have introduced you to CodeFour and brought to up to ATC to meet thr airboss :) maybe next year Sir
It was an excellent show! Worth the trip up from cloudy old Melbourne to watch a great show in the sunshine!
Yes nice for us to feel some warmth for a change. Back to the cold again tomorrow though!
Was there today with the family. Was absolutely amazing. Definitely will be attending if they come back next year! Very inspiring as well.
I totally agree about the music!Friday was loud!
Seven minutes of awesome aviation content and spotting my ugly umbrella. Cracking day out yesterday.
Ha, pass on my thanks to your umbrella for making a cameo.
Great clip thanks for sharing for those of us who couldn’t make it.
Recommend checking out the RAAF clip from inside the F18
It was great to see a different perspective of the show we’d watched just hours before!
It was a fabulous weekend here on the Goldie, and I watched it all from my deck! (Got some great photographs too.) This has got to be the best event, ever held on the Gold Coast, and here for the next 5 years!
It's beautiful there mate, looks like Miami but in a unique Australian (normal) way lo.. Great airshow too...
I reckon the Gold Coast is as close to Miami (FL) as we get, with less alligators but more sharks! You should come over next year.
💙🌞 Love hearing the feedback and glowing review. See you next year 🤭🤭
Thanks for putting on a fun event Queensland. Now stop showing off with the weather. Sincerely, Victoria.
Brilliant.
We have a similar Air Show in Southport, England. It takes place on the beach, although because of the British health and safety, we can't stand in the sea while the planes do their thing! Not that the sea comes in much at Southport! Some of the aircraft on display here are the Typhoon, Red Arrows, and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Thanks for another great video, Stef! 😎
You couldn’t go above knee height in water at the Gold Coast airshow - if my memory serves me correct.
I was there! That f18 was ridiculous.
What an awesome day it was and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you again
Wish I could be there, glad I could make it to Avalon though
2:43 that seagull flyby in tandem was fantastic!
Music at low volume or between the show - that'd be great. 100%
Great to meet you today Stef, absolute legend! 2,200ft at YORC awaits. Keep up the great content!
The Sydsquad crew were up there Saturday and will be up there for Sunday as well. I think a Stefan/Sydsquad is the collaboration we all need 😂
Totally agree with the level of music I went on Friday and the music was blasting all day. Apart from that it was fantastic to see all the aircraft do their thing
Nice
Thanks Stefan! We sure loved your take on the show :) We will see if we can get that music down a little for you next time.
I was in the crowd there somewhere in the GA area with my son. I think there is no competition in terms of attracting the every-man/woman/etc - Avalon Airshow may have the static aircraft and other activities, but its a freaking long day for a family vs the enjoyable day at the beach with planes on the Gold Coast. I think I prefer the Gold Coast as a venue. It just ticks all the boxes for having accommodation right there, restaurants right there, somewhere cool to dip the toes on a hot day, and look up - there's aircraft! I think airshows that you can inspect the aircraft on static display are one thing, but it's not everyone's 'cup-of-tea'.
Where were the Thunderbirds shown in all the advertisements? No F35?
I went to the Sunday show and it was my first airshow, such a great experience! Edit: my favs were the roulets and C17 Globemaster refuel!
Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I attended all 3 days and can't wait for next year
I was there today. Absolutely breath taking. Can't wait for next year
Thanks for sharing as I missed out on going that weekend! Great show I heard from friends😀
Agree on the music. Especially with the piston aircraft. No music needed.
That beach was absolutely packed… never seen it so packed ever!. Hopefully next year (or within a few years), I will get up to the Goldy and experience this air show. I miss the Goldy soooo much.
Thanks for this my absolute favourite holiday destination is the Goldie, seeing Q1and the rest of the place, certainly brings back awesome memories,
Cool airshow! It seems like the seagulls were a part of it.🤣
Look's amazing 👍 never seen them pop flares at an airshow before, very cool.
The music was so unnecessary, thoroughly agree with your sentiments.
Loved the comment about the "airsows" The original "Flying pigs" ! Great fun 😂😂😂😂
Awesome!!! Wonderful fearless pilots❤
Dammit I was keeping an eye out for you all 3 days mate 😂 how awesome was it?! So excited to see what they put on for it next year.
Was just there today, was amazing!
This weekend is the annual Air and Water Show here in Chicago. It’s great… but I’m a bit envious. That looked like a step up from ours. I’ll just have to console my self hanging out on my roof being buzzed by the USAF Thunderbird’s F16s sometimes at less than 1000 AGL.
The show in Chicago looks pretty cool. You should have a look at the RAAF display for River Fire every year in Brisbane (city about an hour up from where this video was shot) they do some crazy stuff, C-17s, Super Hornets and Growlers do low passes through buildings then at night flare runs. Back in the day the F-111s did dump and burns through the city at night to launch the fireworks display. In the age of "Health and Safety" I'm grateful for it!
Thanks for making us look good! :) Freedom#4
I love surfer's Paradise always go there for my holidays! I remember an F111 flying low with a hawk in tow over the beach !!!
Thanks for sharing
Well done getting the vlog up so quickly. It was a great day. Looking forward to tomorrow!
Thanks Paul, glad to hear you had a great day too. Enjoy tomorrow.
Cheers @@StefanDrury , keep up the great adventures and videos
Gotta love the winter weather in south east Queensland
Agree about the music. Hearing those planes roar is definitely more important. Also it would make it easier to make clios for social media without getting copyright strike. Nice coverage. I didn't even know the show was on because I live 2 hours away in northern NSW and I'm not an aircraft enthusiast but I would have enjoyed the show for sure.
I'm looking forward to the RAAF open day and airshow in November.
Can't wait for the roar of the F-35 overhead.
Yes. It was a great show , so well organised.
Perfect weather.
I agree, I love the sound of the engines as the planes fly over.
I've never been to an airshow as my son is autistic and as sensory difficulties, sound being just one of those difficulties. Crowds have been another difficult task for him to cope with, so we've always shied away from airshows.
However, we lived along the flight path/ glide slope to a commercial airport.
We could see for miles and with careful monitoring of the landings and take-offs he coped really well with the aircraft flying over the house, as I could prewarn him to expect noise.
As time went past he actually grew to enjoy the many planes and helicopters.
The one plane that had us running to the window in anticipation of it passing by was the Shackleton.
They were based at an airfield north of us, but always did a touch and go at our local airport enroute to their base.
The sound of those engines, the sight of them always in pairs or more, gliding in to touch and go made our hearts sing.
We missed them when they were decommissioned and the squadron moved to a new base.
However, I feel if I were at an airshow I would appreciate, very much the opportunity to listen to the aircraft as they pass, not the music blotting out the sounds.
The airshow here looks to be very busy and I'd have loved to see that aircraft ( sorry I don't know what it's called) the one that can tilt it's engines to hover like a helicopter, then tilt forward to fly like a plane, I'd have loved to have seen more of it.
Would you have some more film of it's performance?
It would be awesome to see it go through it's paces.
Sorry for the long story,
Thanks, E x
I just live in this area and I saw a C17 Globemaster and some smaller planes when I was waiting at a bus stop. I didn't know there was an airshow. I thought it was just an RAAF exercise. I thought I recognized the sound of jet engines C 130 Hercules and smaller planes high above my unit but I couldn't see anything. Bugger! The last time I went to an airshow was in 1976 at Richmond airforce base in NSW as a teenager with my friends.
The music is or are the engines! Totally agree. Great vid btw.😎👏🏼👍🏼
Huntington Beach Pacific Airshow for Sept 30 to Oct 2 will be a blast also. I'm sure next year will feature a lot more fighter jets.
Awesome 😊👍
REALLY appreciate this video. Saw all the highlights without having to fly from Perth 🥳
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
Wow! Nice video, was there at the air show, love the MV-22.
Same! The osprey looks so cool
Great air show, one jet fighter. Make the most of it, Labor is gutting our air force.
2 of the crew that died in the crash on Melville Island were flying the V-22 Osprey at the airshow. No comment about whether it was this particular Osprey.
Awesome!! I was there Sunday. Of course the Rhino was my favourite, but would have LOVED to see the following. Instead of the showing a C17 twice, they should have had a B52 or a B1B. That would've been amazing. An F35 would have been pretty nice too.
Music was a lot lower than it was on Friday
I know right, you couldn’t hear the P-51 at all and your ears were about to explode whenever you would walk past a speaker.
i was there too
Fri day was so good
@@That-frequent-flyer but a bit cloudy i wish the parachute people couldve done it but it was too windy
I went on Sunday and I thought the volume of the PA was obscene. It was uncomfortable the whole day with music blaring on top of the commentator. Stupidly unnecessary, you'd think Manowar were booked to play with the size of that PA.
this was a fantastic show
Can't wait for next year's one.
It was an amazing show and great saying a quick hello to you too, first time seeing you since the Oz Flight Sim Expo
A brilliant air show. Traffic on Sunday was there afterwards, but not like other shows.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great place to host an air show, getting in/out of Avalon airport in Victoria is a complete debacle!
Aw i was there yesterday, today and will be tomorrow 🤙 pretty cool hey!
It was such a fun day, enjoy tomorrow!
I agree that the music can actually spoil a unique experience. It can make everything the same, like those international hotel chains where you can't tell what country you're in. But the skill of those pilots looked amazing, and what a great venue!
I'd like to see it held in spring or summer when a lot more jets from the states are available. It has the potential with the backdrop and the weather to be brilliant.
Summer on the Gold Coast is too hot to spend four hours on the beach.
@@brucelee-wo5ge Yes the beach is never full in summer is it.....🤔
@@brucelee-wo5ge 100% agree. The weather was perfect, summer would have been far too uncomfortable, I wouldn't have bothered!
I agree 110% about the music. Music can enhance an experience, but for shit sakes, how coud you enhance the experience of an air show more, in anything, it takes from it.
The Thunderbirds did an awesome display just off the beach in Townsville, Qld. No surf here though. :)
our breathtakingly
beautiful G.C - gold coast
(goldie - to locals)
phenomenal weather at present.!
spectacular day / s out.

Awesome how they coordinated that Seagull to fly as fast as Matt Hall @ 2:44
When I were a kid the family went to Abingdon to see an air show and partly to see the display the Paras were putting on. My old man was a territorial and had completed his drop training at the airbase. Anyway, for all the display I am seeing here, the air show at Abingdon included a fly by, by the Concorde, a Vulcan bomber and a little curtsey by a Harrier jet. I don't see that being outdone by any air show for a while yet. That was 1972.
Watching, clapping in my kitchen. Love planes and choppers.
The metal detectorists will be out in force after that too.
I went today, absolutely fantastic. Great post by the way.❤
Osprey is magnificent!
Hey Steph, I was there on Saturday and can’t believe I didn’t meet you, in one of your clips I saw myself in the background, I guess there’s always next year.😂
Yeah I was just there as an aviation fan this weekend, not really doing any meetups or anything like that. But yes hopefully next year, if you see me come say hey.
looked like a great turnout with a solid roster of aircraft. however, I think it was a bit of a missed opportunity not to feature an F35 given it's out latest and greatest new fighter.
Um...they were....busy. Amberly doesn't house F35's? And the F35's were doing.... other stuff. RAAF Mum here! Full display at Williamtown in November if you are interested??! I wouldn't miss an F35 flyover!!
Looks fantastic. Hope we can get over there when beck in Oz. Recently watched the Bournemouth Air Show which was smaller scale but also brilliant. I think the best I have seen was RIAT Fairford but have also enjoyed Farnborough and Duxford as well as RAAF Pearce back in the day. I agree about the music and am ambivalent about the commentary.
I never made it down to the show. I saw the F18 and the 2 Mustangs fly by the house and tuned in on the Air Boss frequency. So basically enjoyed part of it anyway lol. Thanks for the coverage Stefan. Great vid 👌🏼
saw them setting up posters last month, was tempted to fly up to gc again lol
❤ looks like I need to go next year
I saw a bomber buzzing Hastings Point (a few beaches down in Northern NSW) it was flying super low and banked hard so I got a good look at the under-side of it from only a few hundred meters away. I don't know what it was doing so far the hight limit of domestic drones (120m). Every now and then we have military aircraft buzzing the coastline but that experience was unique.
Looks great, I'm just an hour up the highway but was unfortunately busy for the weekend. I look forward to coming next time it's in town!
Not bad for a winter's day
i'll come over from NZ just for this!!
Was there there yesterdayt and what an event, first class
I saw you there and was to nervous to say hello! I was just to the left of you when you got the shot of the seagulls haha!
What an awesome spectacle and I watched it on RUclips thanks to SydySquad ( thanks guys) and hopefully we can get the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds to make an appearance or even more F18s and F35s and perhaps a biannual event between Avalon. ( Dreaming??) Ha ha have a fantastic Sunday Stef and thanks for a great summary of the event.
I agree some more fast jets would be well enjoyed by the crowd. Lots of you here spectators here who would like that for sure. Thanks for watching.
Hey Stefan
Somehow stumbled across your channel one down down a rabbit hole but have loved following you adventures over the last little while
The GC is home and as a local I loved the air show over the weekend it’s sounds and sights were fantastic and the diversity in planes was cool to see
Hopefully next year is bigger and better
Hey Percvill, welcome to the channel and thanks for checking out the videos. Glad you enjoyed the airshow as well, it was fun to spend time up on the GC, thanks for putting on pretty perfect weather conditions too.
I thought the same that the American commentary might jar a bit but it was perfect. Matt Jolley didn’t miss a beat and I’m not certain Australia has anyone with that much specific experience that could match him.
