- Hello and welcome to learn to speak tamil lesson 1.
I have started this series based on my subscribers’ feedback.
In this lesson, we will learn 5 tamil sentences. We will be learning how to greet in Tamil. We will also learn how to introduce yourself in Tamil.

Let us now move on to the homework. We have 2 tasks in the homework.
First one is - practise and then shoot a video of your introduction and post it in the comments section.
Second one is - say these 5 sentences to at least 10 tamil speakers.
That brings us to the end of this lesson.

Thank you bvenkysubbu, maybe that would be a good idea to try to learn a little bit of Kannada too. I actually checked because the place i am going is an ashram and the main language spoken there is Tamil....in fact i believe it is the outskirts of Bangalore...Bidadi? Most of the people in the ashram are from the Tamil Nadu i think

I've been learning Tamil through your videos, since the past week. Your content is very useful in learning the basics of Tamil. Your presentation style is informal and friendly.
FYI, I'm a Tamilian myself, and much older than you, but I never learnt to read and write the language, since I've spent most of my life outside Tamil Nadu. I came across your RUclips channel and I liked it immediately.
It is unfortunate that your videos are few and far apart. If you really want to popularise your channel, and get serious subscribers for yourself, I'd suggest the following:
- Use the presentation format you have used in this latest video. The content in your earlier videos is not easy to read, because you've used a cheap blackboard and chalk. The digital format with a white background you have used in your latest video is clean and easy to read. In fact, I'd suggest you re-shoot all your earlier videos in this format.
- Cut out all the background noise. And remove any extraneous material that distracts the viewer, like posters on the wall.
- Retain your original clean-shaven look and wear something a bit more formal, instead of sporting neckless T-shirts with strange messages on them. You have a handsome face and a friendly personality. You need to highlight these aspects, to hold the viewer's interest.
- Be more enthusiastic and cheerful in your presentation.
You obviously know your stuff. You just need to present it in a more attractive manner. Keep it clean, easy to read, energetic and keep providing useful content. And keep posting regularly. At least twice a week.

We have different words in Hindi and Telugu for representing someone before you in a 'normal way' and a 'respectable way' ( english word 'you' ),like
तुम,నువ్వు [normal/friendly way];
आप,మీరు [respectable way].
I know 'friendly way' to call in tamiz is *niinkal*,
What is the word in tamiz to call someone before you in a 'respecting manner' ?
