  • I give a fairly detailed explanation on how the magnesium and sulfur found it Epsom Salt gets used by your plants. I also explain a general method for use both how to mix it in water and when to use it on your plants. I use Epsom Salt on my tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions and garlic.

      You have to be very careful when adding these chemicals. Trust me I have tried just about every supposed soil amendment Improvement technique trick there is. Last amendment I used outside of regular compost, worm castings, organic or synthetic fertilizer was magnesium sulfate. Yeah I had lovely green Vines until the hot weather hit. Then I had all kinds of problems with bugs and disease. The other bigger problem I had was blossom end rot on the tomatoes themselves. I was never able to harvest a single decent tomato.
      Months later I found out that the extra magnesium decrease the uptake of calcium which is the main cause of blossom end rot lack of calcium. Do a soil test first before adding any chemical ammendment. Our soil has plenty of magnesium in it already. Again it's a micronutrient so not very much is needed. An entire tbsp per plant would be way too much for many soils. Just be careful so you don't create more problems for yourself.

    Your description is Excellent. I have used Epsom salts when planting fruit trees and rose bushes mixed Epsom Salts together with some compost in the planting site, then I water it very well. Worked very good. I recently used Epsom Salts when I re seeded my lawn, looking forward to the results this was the first time I used it for the grass.

    Epsom salt is wonderful stuff. I often first use it as a foot bath, and then the bath water is used for my plants. In sunny days I mix the salt into my juice and drink to keep up the loss of salts through sweating. Have an issue with muscle cramps, and it helps a lot.
    Nice info vid!

    Gary great video, no, excellent video, I just did a soil course & you are so right on in all you are teaching here, thank you. By the way most soils around the world today are magnesium deficient, as are most humans, which is a bad thing as magnesium is the basis of over 7000 of the body's functions. If people have muscle cramps, twitching in eye or muscle tremors, sleeplessness, road rage, anxiety, trembling hands all signs of magnesium deficiency. Super important we supplement our soil so our food supplements us. Great class thanks from down under...now off to my Epsom bath that awaits. : )

Sheesh look at Styxhexenhammer, he has gotten tens of thousand of subscribers since the election and he does political commentary (pro-trump), gaming videos AND pro-occult videos all on one channel! Talk about opposing topics, yet subscribers don't mind, the videos are labeled so folks only watch the category they like.

    Epsom salt is a good option, but a better start and addition, would be dolomitic lime! Either spread on top and/or mixed into the soil. it gives you calcium and magnesium in one..plus it balances your ph and keeps it close to 7. Calcium and magnesium are essential in soil to keep it from going acidic. They are both double positive cations and can push off 2 -hydrogen ions which the plant releases as it feeds on mostly positively charged cations in soil. Epsom salt is good for a sudden deficiency, but dolomite lime is a better overall option and has more benefits! Happy gardening!

    • @desertodavid
      @desertodavid 5 лет назад +1

      What effect does dolomitic lime have on ph? My problem here in the Southwest isn't acidity but alkalinity. So I started using sulfur. But even too much of that can be harmful depending on other conditions.

    I have been using Epsom salt with everything this year. I have been adding at least a tablespoon to the planting hole. It seems to be working great. Here I live in western ND and I already have been harvesting eggplant and peppers. While I started all of these in the house and moved them into a little greenhouse, they are all outside now and doing great. As of right now, I have over 300 peppers on the vine. I don't know if the Epsom salt was responsible but it didn't hurt anything. I picked this up from watching one of your last year videos. So, I owe you a big Thank You! Keep up these great videos. I am learning a ton from you.
