72 years old is a short life these days. A touring musician - it is a lot of stress. Initially, the novelty of it, when you're younger, makes it a lot of fun. Fifty years though. Wow. How many of us have a job where we do the same thing for 50 years. 72 years old - that is a short life. Prayers for his friends and family. . .
"Just Got Paid" was one of the first songs I learned on bass. ZZTop Eliminator was the first record I ever owned. Was finally gonna go see them in November...
Hes a super Humble guy I grew up next to him He used to come over and BS with my dad but had a rule nobody could take a picture of him and his personal attire My parents went to many concerts and got signed key chains hats except . He took me in my brother and the early 90's out to a gas station to get some candy in a limo hes actually a really nice guy. Wish I could get to know him Now that I'm older.
@@jdogdiesel7242 I know, that sucks, I'm glad I got to see them Live as many times as I have (probably 10) all through the years. First was the World wide Texas Tour way back in the 1970s in Cleveland and the last was the ROT Rally in Austin a few years ago. I've seen them in Tyler, Tx, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, La. Houston and Dallas. Always an awesome show, true professionals, one of the main reasons I picked up the Bass. He was truly an inspiration, to Me, (I have 4 Basses, three Fenders and a Gibson)
ZZ was one of the many reasons I started playing music. Always loved Dusty from when I was three and my dad had them playing. Was crushed when I heard the news. RIP Dusty...gonna miss you.
ZZ Top was my very first concert. Dusty's death is very sad news. It's like losing a member of my family. Rest In Peace, Dusty. Your music will live on forever, and so will you.
RIP Dusty. Your legacy will live on forever ZZ was an incredible band that stood the test of time. They reinvented themselves along the way and got a huge boost from MTV. Just timeless music that will be played and listened to for a long time to come. Bass guitar the engine room of any great band and Dusty was that indeed 👍👍👍👍👍
Next time I'm in a storm and hear the thunder I'll know Dusty is up there holding down the fundementals of natures tune....R.I.P. Mr. Hill....Love and respect from the U.K.
😥 ZZTop was the last concert I went to. They put on show and I know I'm going to miss him. RIP Mr Bill and a million thank you's for sharing your awesome talent with the world. 💔
Another REAL rock and roll musician has now gone upwards to make heaven more electric. This world will seldom see such brutal honesty, reverence and musical ability from now on. Dusty Hill will always be the anchor to the bottom-end of the TOP.
I waited to see ZZ Top since the early 80’s. I finally got tickets to see them front row and paid over $2,000 for the two front row seats. The show was on a Saturday. The Monday before the show, Covid happened and they canceled. A while later, I got very sick from Covid and was sent to the hospital. While in the hospital, Dusty Hill died. I will never get to see ZZ Top, but I will forever love their music, and Hills contribution was monumental. I play my signature bass daily. RIP, Dusty Hill.
Test as you need, Dusty; but if you could boogey through all eternity, we underrated. That Fender Bass belongs in the Smithsonian. Nevermind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Pawn shop guys are too savvy these days, yeah.... but there are still options. Now you have to find the uninformed/stupid/desperate on Craigslist, AND be early. The chances of that beat up 1966 precision being sold for $300 by the widow are slim as hell, but definitely deals to be had for those willing to sift. I landed an a 2019 american pro jazz for $750 earlier this year. Seller was "thinning his herd" so his wife would let him buy more. He wasn't feelin the jazz and didn't hesitate to dump an essentially brand new bass for less than half what he paid. $100 fixed the fret buzz im guessing he didnt like, and BAMN I had a new #1 at a crazy discount.
It was awesome hitting up all them old pawn shops and seeing killer vintage guitars in the back corner collecting dust. I got a '78 Les Paul for $500. Now with google and ebay, you can't get steals like that anymore
In the dark times Will there also be singing? Yes, there will also be singing. About the dark times. And there will be drum n' bass all over the world! Raise your drumsticks and your fingers (or picks, whatever suits you best) and remember your neighbors that there will always be music!
Saw him play so many times in concert throughout the years ,he always brought it…🎸🙏. Once in Las Vegas I went to a Cirque du Soleil show at the Bellagio and Dusty and Billy were 2 rows behind me😳😎, i said on the way out ,that was good but I’ll see you two tomorrow night at MGM for the real deal show!🤣. RIP Dusty Hill. Billy is the professor, Frank the buckaroo, and you were the good-time humor. A seriously GREAT rockin' outfit that never took itself too seriously.
Great man. Sad he's gone, but kinda hard to feel bad about someone who lived such a great life. Heard it on the X is my favorite ZZT song and one of my favorite ones to play.
Fender is a great bass, esp. the Precision Fender. There's not a bass made that Dusty couldn't master. RIP Dusty Hill. He left Chicago and he's down in New Orleans working his musical magic.
Played in ZZ Top for 50 years, incredible. Rest in Peace Mr. Hill.
Awesome guy, love him always from Jamaica 🇯🇲
