FINALLY THERE'S HOPE
Why are Judd and Doogie so adamant and positive that the Twins wouldn’t be moved if a new ownership group came in? I hope the Twins stay in Minnesota but you have to worry if a group of billionaires from the Nashville area is interested and wants to move the team.
A buyer would take note that the Twins have history, a championship, a new stadium… we shouldn’t be worried about a team moving, we should be worried about who buys and how they deal with current staff and players.

Teams have been moved before who had more history than the Twins. It’s been 33 years since the last championship btw. Montreal loved the Expos, Brooklyn adored the Dodgers, to think the new owners wouldn’t move them out of Minnesota is not out of the question. I hope they stay but to exclude the possibility of the team moving is a parochial and naive view. The Chargers fans probably never thought they would ever leave San Diego. Seattle Pilots fans were probably shocked when they moved to Milwaukee. Things happen ….
Judd had good points - there isnt as much money that local municipalities are willing to give to build a new stadium. You also need to assess a new market, and take a risk in something unproven when...not sure if you have noticed...we dont exactly have a roaring economy where expansion is not only possible, but expected.
2024 looks a LOT different than anything before 2020 in terms of business and investments.

We need an owner who wants to win more than they want high cash flow. The Pohlad's operated the team like someone who was concerned about short term cash return. A wealthy hobby owner, who just likes to have a new toy, would be fine. So would a long term investor who has the funds to build the team and doesn't need short term cash return and knows that the real long term value isn't in short term cash flow but in building the value of the franchise.
They brought us two World Series Championships at least. Well at least Carl did, I was a bit young to remember 87, but I remember 91 like it was yesterday.
Not sure how everyone is missing this. They did not say they are selling. They said they will explore the possibility. I mean why trust they will sell?

I think it was the Business Model that put a stake into the Pohlad's Ownership heart. MLB is just too tough for Small Market teams. Too little room for error with Small Market teams. Sign a FA who flops, it's much worse for the Twins than with the Yankees. And I also think the Twins Farm System really hasn't paid off much in the way of dividends.
I have fond memories of the Twinkies growing up, but the time for this has come. I completely tuned out of the team after the deadline.
It just felt to me, it was obvious this year that the owners were PR twisting running their business strictly through ledgers in a year loyal fans deserved better.
I understand you have to make money, but maybe sacrifice A LITTLE for the fans in a year the team had a good shot for a playoff run on a team you ALREADY spent money on.

I brought my kid to a game in 2012 gotten free tickets so $20 dollars for parking... Bought a foam finger couple hotdogs and peanuts, and couple pops. so after entering the gate think i spent about 80.00 dollars not one person said the game was a rain out. got up to the seats entered the area and on the billboard Game is Cancelled. Not one person said a thing while putting my cash. I have vowed to never return while this family owned this team. Damn that was ordered from the top! I might go back now. Pohlad family did me dirty for $80.00 dollars

I've watched maybe one game in the past 6 or 7 years. I used to be a big fan, but they just don't interest me anymore. Same with the Wild. Besides for last season's playoff run, I haven't watched the Wolves since the KG, Cassell & Spreewell run. The Wilfs are top owners in the NFL...maybe they can save the Twins.

The Twins are locked in to Minnesota until 2037, they would have to move 13 years after the purchase. It is possible, but highly improbable. The new ownership would have a chance to lose a lot of money by walking away from a market like Minneapolis, with history, championship, and a nice stadium.
