Tik tok; How to find ur Art Style in 30 seconds Sam; Gets into a dramatic speech that makes all artists shed tears (also love that Sam is speechless on the 3rd video lolz)

The best art tip I’ve gotten from Sam is the eye tip. You don’t know how many drawings and artworks have become 10 times better ever since I learned it. Thank you 🙏
here’s an actual art tip i used for improving; in expressions, the like bottom line of the eye will curve according to expressions. if it stays the same it makes the expressions look dull and robot like. (google references) it’s a mistake i see people make a lot and ur art can look kind of off putting if u don’t.

Here’s my tips for finding your art style. Sometimes it’s not going to come out as you want it to be, but it will be yours. An art style chooses you. Draw things the way you find the more fun, or the way that is most comfortable for you. Over time once you’ve customized every human feature to you, it will turn out to be an art style, yes you do have some say in it but it will never be your exact vision. It takes time, just know that you can’t decide when your style is set, it will happen over time.
How I use 100+ layers: Sketch folder: 3 to 10 layers for the sketch 1 layer clipping on the folder of sketches to give a color (I usually sketch with black, but I see a lot of artists sketch with a color that's not black) Lineart folder: around 10 layers The same number of layers to color the lineart Color folder: a layer for every color that is in the drawing 1 to 12 clipping layers to shade these colors Background folder: lineart and/or colors 5 to 18 layers
Timestamp 3:35 yes, my art style has changed over the years a lot. First it was kinda like Tom and Jerry's art style, then I got into anime so I went for a shojo anime style, and then that evolved into my current style which is sort of Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess + Ghibli backgrounds + Black Butler + Okami + the more realistic Final Fantasy games + From Software. (Basically a Japanese video game art style in which I can vary the level of realism, usually is not cel shaded, and I have a lot of options for depicting lighting and weather conditions.)
As a member of the traditional artist community I approve the TikTok where she ate gouache paint. And I am a traditional artist cause digital art felt too unnatural to me and it was way too hard.
3:00 goofy guy singin dude thats the haikyuu intro by burnout syndromes its a great song and they put anime music in the background cause they were drawing anime 😤😤 still love the tiktok art tip vids btw
9:29 i dont really like this "tip" because the shadows will always just be a darker version of the base colour. there is no shift in hue or no variation in colour in the shadows. but i guess it can be good for learning contrast and pushing/pulling lights and darks

I feel like people think too much when they're doing art, especially when it comes to art styles. often times it's just best to shut your brain off, relax, and let go. Whatever comes out naturally IS your art style.
I tried out Magic Poser because I was a bit doubtful, but it 100% works. It’s amazing. You can also find pre made poses if you don’t want to make one yourself
because i go for a fairly large canvas size, typically an 18' x 24' at 300dpi (Procreate Gang), i cant do more than 17 layers atm but i never really use more than 10 anyways. Layer 1- base sketch layer 2- better version of the base sketch, keeping that sketch fairly loose also makes having to change things less intimidating layer 3- basically the main color layer layers 4-10 - anything else that would be a pain to do on the main layer, i.e. highlights, rando objects, background, accessories, testing out theories... you will have less accidents on fewer layers guys! if yall go outside the lines it can always be fixed no matter how big or small thanks to either covering it up or undo.
@@user-hb4zz4gh5e yea, there are a few models that are pay only but really you’ll only need them in very rare situations. The rest are mostly free, but a few you get temporarily for watching an ad
13:31 everyone at my high school that does art needs to see this. Especially my class, even the teacher. A part of my soul dies as I see all our tools incredibly mistreated and I am reminded that I'm the only one there that actually cares about art. ;-; Sorry about my rant, school's just really upsetting and not doing anything for me rn
Hey! I just got the notification I love your humor, your tips, and your videos. Your hilarious, concise, and helpful! Thank you so much for posting on RUclips everyday.
Hey Sam! Can you make a tutorial on how to effectively use references and draw without copying them, or just stylizing them? I wanted to learn how to draw my own image and create my own work, and I really like your art. Thank you!
I will admit that I'm a baby artist. I've only just started digital and I've been hand drawing for years, but there's things I can't find no matter how I search it, like how some of the artist I like do their rendering, and shading cause I like the realistic anime kind of art, and I really want to draw my OCs like that
I paint backgrounds and landscapes. If Sam sees the amount of layers I have in one file, I think he'd go crazy beyond the point of saving (spoiler : some can reach above 100 layers, especially ones I focus detail on). Most I've had in one file was 130 layers, but this was my second artwork at the time and I was using a mouse.
I can totally agree with Sam when he talked about how your artstyle would keep changing and improving, I've continously practiced digitally and traditionally and I always changed the way I draw noses, eyes, hair. A few weeks ago I wouldn't have been able to draw 2 eyes that doesn't look wonky, and the eyes I drew now are what I actually was aiming for. My artstyle just keeps changing but that doesn't mean I'm not improving (I sometimes think that ahhhh) I just kept on practicing but it would be til' I tire myself out (I was always one to work hard til exhaustion) So I'm trying my best not to do that! Sam always have the best tips and I can extremely agree with his words. Work hard and practice but don't do it until you exhaust yourself!
11:10 the other solution for those people who use a lot of layers is to LABEL YOUR LAYERS SO YOU DONT GET LOST also how the french toast does your device not self destruct on you when you use that many layers
I use hundreds of layers in my art, but I never have trouble finding my layers, as they're always well organized and grouped by subject. I get why some people (like Sam) don't understand using so many layers, but it's all about having a system, and it really makes things far more forgiving, as you can make adjustments to specific layers instead of the piece as a whole every time.
The second tip reminds me of when I first started taking art more seriously in sixth grade. I used to fold up pieces of printer paper and keep them in my pencil case, and when the teacher was talking I’d bring the paper out and draw a little warrior cat or something on one of the sides. I ended up with multiple sheets of dirty paper, falling apart, absolutely covered in coloured pencil on both sides. I still have a lot of them today! It definitely helped by making art feel accessible- i could draw a whole piece on a bit of paper smaller than my hand and be proud of it. Only problem with that was I got into the habit of drawing veeery small, my sketchbooks from that time were just filled with tiny drawings. It also meant when i tried to draw bigger pictures, I’d realise the anatomy and everything was off, so I’d be too scared to even attempt it. Still, it was an important part of my art journey!
4:10 this is very useful! At my art school though they just use those crayola thin markers things but with the fatter caps and stick the pencils in the thicc caps
him refering to people like me who use paper for art as traditional artists bring me so much joy as im so used to getting put below digital artist. instant i love your work, keep it up
when i first started digital art i forgot you could add layers so i put myself through hell trying to paint over every single mistake instead of creating new and different layers
About this "Magic Poser", CLIP has it built in. So you can just use it there and even edit model on the canvas whenever you need, without separate program
I started internally crying when I saw the magic poser Tiktok. I was looking for a specific pose a month ago for a drawing, and I was very desperately looking for websites and apps that could allow me to create or find any pose I'd like, but I never found one so I cancelled that drawing idea. This right here would have helped me so much. At least I know now 😭
About portfolio advice, as a 3d modeler that uses these character/prop/whatever sheets to make models, one thing that recruiters will notice is consistency between poses on the sheet. It makes one's job so much easier if things are lined up properly and eliminates lots of guesswork. You can find even professional concepts (not bashing anyone, we're all humans with tight deadlines) with things like wristbands suddenly changing sides, clothing that has inconsistent lenghts, borked perspective or things that look cool but don't make sense in 3d space:)
Sam vibing to (probably) copyright music is what I live for now. It makes it better that the video audio doesn't match up so it just looks like me when I listen to music that no one else can hear.

Third layer: sketch one details (eyes clothes hair)

Line art
Layer number after idk: line art but maybe better
Next layer: line art of the eyes and face
Next layer: thickening line art in places where it needs

Then in between each of those layers you also shade each color
