@@ivecomeforyourpickle5470 Good question :P This was a new way of holding/using the rimshot stick for me. After practicing with it for a few hours I was starting to get a couple of blisters on my hand from it, so the tape just helps me keep going without the blisters getting to painful.
@@philjdrums good strategy, but take a break! Blisters are no good.

Just some more great content Phil!! I just love watching you play before I practice myself. Quick question, how often do you go through heads?.... I swear every one of your videos, your kit looks like its wrapped in new heads....lol
Thanks a lot man! :) Haha good question. I definitely spend the most on heads and skins. I probably change heads once a month if I am playing a lot (4-5 nights per week). There's no feeling like fresh skins. If I am changing them I usually change them right before a video though :)

And if I’m being completely honest you and Matt McGuire are my two favorite RUclips drummers. You both put such enthusiasm behind incredible drumming.
