Great video, Jazakallahumma khayran - definitely a necessary account for us women to hear. I definitely am against the “progressive” movement you mentioned where men and women are practically rubbing shoulders in the masajid, no separate sections, etc. but I think it’s almost totally lost on a lot of the ummah that men and women used to learn from each other like this, WHILE maintaining hayaa. I think people are just that afraid of the fitnah of the times which I do understand, but I think that’s an issue that can be addressed at the same time.
If we fix the issues we have in our communities that cause us to be afraid of even learning in a “mixed” environment (ie, men learning from women in a public setting and vice versa), then perhaps we’ll have more educated ummah all around. We try to fix issues by swinging between the extremes I feel, without actually ever addressing the root of the issues at hand. Ironically, more accessible Islamic education would solve many of the issues that are preventing education.
