If you go to or through Arthur’s Pass, the extra couple hours to Hokitika are more than worth it.
First - the gorge is a must see! The unique water color is unlike anything you’ve ever seen and the hike is continually beautiful and lush throughout.
Hokitika beach made for some of the strongest, most burning sunsets I have ever seen.
