It's the sort of movie I usually walk away from going: that was confusing, stupid, and artsy - but not this one. I keep thinking about it, and his character is so interesting to me. The tone of the movie seems to shift around (maybe in the theme of despair vs. hope?) and I thought that was intriguing too.
It's so clear how much experience Mr. Hawke has by the way he approaches and answers these questions. This video also isn't the first time he mentioned that being an actor is like being behind "a glass wall"; the culture of worshiping celebrities is something he's very aware of and doesn't seem afraid to speak on, which I respect. Great interview as always
Hello there. Thank you very much for your love, care and support all through my career, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
@@ethanhawke8369 Very hard to say! So many, but I love the characters you play. I have not seen the "Before" series yet but I plan to. I really love your character in "Boyhood". Also I really did like "First Reformed". If this is actually you, you are an incredible actor, creator, and inspiration. Thank you.
@@benmcsherry7887 you are welcome, it's always a wonderful feeling for me when I get positive reviews from people who have seen my movies, positive reviews gives me more inspiration to do more. Where are you from?
@@benmcsherry7887 lovely, I have been to Massachusetts severally, always enjoyed my visit... Well that's a hard one, picking one from my numerous projects, it's actually hard because I always give my best in all my projects and let the viewers enjoy but if I do have to pick one, it should be "dead poets society " mainly because it was my first real movie, I was still very young and new to the business and I'm still friends with some of the cast of that movie. You know when i was growing up as a little boy I wanted to be a boxer and later on when I grew up a bit, I wanted to be a pilot because I was very fascinated by planes back then, but I'm glad I turned out to be an actor because I feel very proud and humbled knowing I put lots of smiles on millions of people's faces whenever they see me on TV.. Tell me Ben what did you want to be when you were growing up as a little boy and what work are you doing now over there in Massachusetts?
You forgot to mic him! Gives you a strange "voice of God" for being so clear in comparison: like Ethan's so distant and you're my film-buff conscience. (Although what is that wire doing?). Great interview though!
First Reformed stunned me so much. What an amazing film and experience. I'm very grateful for it.

Ethan Hawke remains one of the most interesting and thoughtful interviewees in the film business. Great interview with a great subject.
i guess it is kinda off topic but do anybody know a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Malakai Ariel Thanks, signed up and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!
@Khari Kyle no problem :D

First reformed was powerful. I have even more respect for Hawke after this interview. Very insightful, measured, and clearly passionate.
What an incredibly intelligent and passionate guy
Great interview
Ethan Hawke seems chill.
Es uno de mis artistas favoritos👏👏👏❤️
I love DP/30 interviews, but please use a microfone for Mr Ethan Hawke.

Love your interviews. You got to catch up with Emily Blunt sometime again. I’d love to see that interview.
I made a comment online about Ethan Hawke 2018
what was the comment?
Bad sound! Sorry.
Always a good idea to make the subject sound at least as good as the interviewer, if not better.
Just watched his first “death poet society” very natural and good actor
Ethan Hawke - a dude and a half!
Daddy!
saying he looks tired is so rude. bad interviewer
Lots of interviews with Ethan.... maybe too relaxed...
