Paul, Pete and Eric watching Jimi, all in one place seems surreal from a today perspective. All became legendary.
And lemmy was probably there as Jim's roadie
It sounds like the 1954 concert in Lubbock, TX. It had Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and the opening act was a local kid, Buddy Holly.
There were so many more, but I can't verify it. It seems like the entire British invasion was there
Never actually happened......Paul was caught off guard and made this up basically by combining several incidents, shows, news reports and fellow musicians stories
@@markfrost2707 Haha wtf? Increase your medication ffs.
If I had a time machine that's definitely where I would go
I saw Jimi when he was the guitarist for the John Hammond Jr. blues band at the Cafe Au GoGo in Greenwich Village, NYC. I was a teenager with my friends and we were all saying “who is that guy”. Later saw him in northern CA at a music festival. Amazing days!
Move over.
Take a sports almanac with you.
Write down some lottery numbers before you go.

Okay, Biff 😂
His Jimi sound impression was both hilarious and accurate 🎸
@MagicCarpetRideShareProjectIt would be insane if a musician of his age wasted precious time making something so bizarre. But it would probably be great lol
these 'cap' 'bum' gau-u-u-u-u' are the connection of the cable on the guitar, and the first distortion feedbacks Sound of the instument, espesially if the amplifier isa big one.... 😂
That knows every guy who has been on a stage once...
I can’t imagine how good Hendrix must have been live in person at that time in history.
In my opinion he was better live and it makes me so sad we’ll never hear half of his live performances :(
@@BloodSweatAndMeth lol yeah but plenty wasn’t recorded and I’d rather have access to stuff on streaming as opposed to YT
Spectacularly amazing, I've never seen anything like him...
@@BloodSweatAndMeth Now Now !!!!
@@dakotarobert7975Never heard of Steve Luckather from Toto? 😂
Jimi was a one off, a true force of nature. Rip Jimi.
Unfortunately, he was into Witchcraft.
@@TapManDancer So what?
@@TapManDancer He was ?
Amazing. Jimi took electric guitar to places nobody knew existed
Terry Kath did everything Hendrix did, except cleaner.
Hendrix is the GOAT
Buy only rock and blues
He was limited.
Yes....but he covered Jimmy......he never would have done it out of his own@@danainsworth607
Jimi definitely turned the musical world upside down
Just like his guitar😂
@@cynicalbongo...We can thank

Gone for 50+ years and still voted greatest even by the greatest. R.I.P. Jimi
And a career so short even makes Kurt Cobains run seem like the stones 😊
The way he wells up immediately says it all. He knew what was lost in Jimi. A tragedy for the ages.. and it will be the ages.
I’m a huge Hendrix fan but, for Paul McCartney to say this is awesome.
@@BloodSweatAndMethok. HATERS HATE. THATS YO
When McCartney sits up and pays attention to you, then you can say you're a legend!
That night when the others turned up Jimi opened the set with Sgt Peppers, it jad only just been released that week, ballsy move, but it went down extremly well.
Ya, just imagine!!! Hendrix comes out, and plays the song you had just released the week before!!!!
The show at the Saville Theatre was in June, 1967 when he opened with Sgt. Pepper.
The Bag O 'Nails show was Nov.25, 1966
I can't wait for someone to say he burned a Strat as well.
There's only 3 times he did that
Once in England, once in France and of course, the One the Only Legendary
Montery Pop Festival performance
Got that right, Sir Paul.Without a doubt, Jimi !
good post paul
hendrix was the best. off all time
will never be replaced.
Jimi Hendrix was quoted as saying....'when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know Peace'
RIP Jimi Hendrix ❤
Something democrats need to learn
This has got to be one of the most free spirited times in music history. London was the spot. One night Paul McCartney sees you play, then the next performance Townsend and Clapton show up. Jeff Beck told a story once about how he’d hop on the train out of the city and he’d see John Bonham and other musicians playing football on the grass outside, or see Jimmy Page sitting on the platform at the next stop just minding his own business. How could you not be inspired with all these legends just milling about the place.
Talent knows talent!

What Sir McCartney just said was mind blowing, just the names he mentioned.
Yea, lil old name dropper Paul huh?
Sir McCartney 😂
I think Paul mccartney is an amazing human being
Mind blowing indeed. So much so that you have to question whether it is another one of his mists of time fantasies.
“It’s gotta be Jimi, great guy!” ❤
“It’s gotta be Jimi.” Pretty hard to argue that coming from Paul.
Just imagine that project that couldn't be with Miles Davis, Jimmy Hendrix and McCartney. 🙏
JIMI*
Great recollection of Jimi Hendrix opening everyone’s ears to his unique style and amazing sounds (Wish I’d been there.)
🎤🎸🎼🎶🎵
Paul dropping history right here.
Townsend won't agree 😅
@Meisha-san I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to, but I'm talking about him meeting Jimi. In "Room Full of Mirrors," written by Charles Cross, there's a chapter where it describes Jimi met some of The Beatles and other musicians. It mentions Paul saluting him (with a huge joint lol) for his set earlier that night. "Great fucking show, mate."
@@Meisha-sanwhy? Makes no sense
@@marcuscrumpton8568 Hi! I've just noticed that my previous response has been deleted.
@@marcuscrumpton8568 Search for Hendrix, Townsend feud.
Hendrix said that HIS favorite guitarist was a kid named Billy Gibbons- the founder of ZZ Top.
The best ones are the most humble ones also
Jimi also said that Terry Kath was better than him.
Bollocks
That quote has been attributed to so many guitar players like Terry Kath, Rory Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, Robert Fripp and many more. Thing is none of them are historically correct. All of them are killer players though.
@rbnh9827 so let it be written
When Paul speaks I listen in awe
When you’ve got McCartney , Clapton & Townsend all jaw dropped … you’ve gotta be something pretty special !!😮
AMAZING MEMORY. TO ACTUALLY SEE AND HEAR JIMI . AWESOME
What a sight to behold! Three legends in awe of The Legend.
Thanks for that !! Sir Pual , You great too 😊
Great story. Paul is so kind
Really because that was such a canned answer. Jeff Beck was 100 times better, thann the Black dude.

Speaking of those big amps, one of my older brothers saw Hendrix live and said there was a wall of amps behind Jimi and the band, and my brother and his friend said the whole place was shaking.
He put Marshall amps on the map.
It's got to be Jimi.. yes, it has to be ❤
Facts! Rock music is forever indebted to England.
paul told this story thousand timesss
Jimi humbled Clapton real good on his British trip... dude went from being "the God of Guitar" to... whatever he became after Cream disbanded.
Damn Jimmy was legend
"Great!" 👍
We all know Jimi as a legend. It’s pretty cool that other, contemporary legends identified it so quickly, to the point where Jimi influenced them just as much, if not more, than the other way around
Saw Hendrix twice with the experience . Both times they were amazing and loud
The guy in Paul’s band was really good too.
George was the best
@@papasmith1 I agree. ☮️
Georges was an awesome composer but his guitar skills were not that great
@childrenofbodom33333 Wait, what? That's so false. He was a great guitarist. Pick up a guitar and try to do what he did
Any guitarist with 1 year of proper learning can play everything he played 😂
That's a famous story about all the Brit rockers going to see Hendrix that night. The late Chris Squire of Yes told of it too, having been there.
Yay! I wholeheartedly agree!
Paul knows greatness! 👍👍👍
The Jimi interpretation was bang on
Martin Barre , Carlos Santana , Ritchie Blackmore, Mark knopfler,Jimmy Page . There's many .
Ahh-- Martin Barre gets some recognition!!!!
Segovia, Emmanuel, Reinhardt....
Thanks, sir Paul. Thanks for giving Jimmy his due.
He got the right answer.
He himself is quite a great guitarist to be honest
I love the way Paul tells story’s
Paul is endlessly fascinating to me
Chris Squire, the Yes bass player, used to tell a story when he first met Hendrix. It was at the Speakeasy and he and his band at the time (The Syn) were opening for them. He mentions that Clapton, Townshend, Jagger, Harrison were all there. I wonder if this was the same gig (the second) that Paul mentions. (The story is extremely funny, you should look it up here in YTube).
_"So, Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney sitting in the bar and Jimi Hendrix walks in..."_
Ridiculous 😂❤
What an incredible story 🤓🙌🏼
Wonderfully told
I felt that "AH" in my soul

Michael Bloomfield !
I like how he demonstrates the guitar action left handed
JIMMY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Sound Effects" absolutly great
Yeah right Billy
Billy Shears is so engaging
Great comment👍 keep telling about this mkUltra fraud
The PID theory is also engaging. Please tell how Paul's friends, family, fellow band members, and business associates were persuaded to keep the secret right till the present day. It would have to be the biggest hoax in history.
I think that’s when Clapton first saw Jimi and then immediately after hearing him , Clapton thought “Well, I guess I’d better start looking for a new line of work”.
Awesome
Awesome !
Sounds Epic
Wow❤
That guitar sound impression 😁
Paul your the best❤
Jimmy Hendrix casually playing a small club to The Beatles, Townsend and Clapton, like it's no big deal.
Yes were on the bill that night chris squire tells a similar tale.but he was in awe of McCartney.
What a great story
I'd say Jeff Beck was, is, & will always be my GOATGuitarist.
Jimmy Hendrix was only 28 when he died , yet he is one the best guitare player ever
27 actually

I guessed it before he said anything 🎉🎉🎉
Wow so original...
McCatney: Ok, so who's your favourite corn star of all time?
Ron Jeremy.
To me all these guys and stories seem so far away that I am sometimes surprised there are still people alive who have been there or who even were them
He is right about the live shows. Is like, is that Jimi?

Jimi's mentor was Terry Kath (Chicago). You can hear Jimi's style from Terry...
Jimi joni brilliant
Jimi Hendrix was a king among men
He was amazing!
James Marshall Hendrix, the Michael Jordan of guitars 🎸
I've read that Paul recommended Jimi for the Monterey Pop Festival.
That 2nd night when everyone was there I herd Clapton left after a few songs, Jeff Beck asked him where was he going? Clapton replied "to practice..."
Tjat was an awesome telling
Agreed!
Imagine if you were there, as a regular person, and you tell your kids, years later, that you were at this packed club and you saw Jimi perform and in the audience was Townsend, Clapton and Paul McCartney? Nobody would ever believe 😂
Jimi playing the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Alvin Lee, coming home at woodstock
Chris Squire tells a great story about playing a gig in one of those places and Jimi was getting quite well known. He describes the audience like Paul does here. The thing Yes were concerned about was about being able to pay for dessert from the proceeds that Jimi was responsible for!!!
Jimi was once asked who he thought was the best guitarist he'd ever heard.
He said Phil Keaggy.
I vaguely remember that Jimi was influenced by Pete Townsend's earlier guitar style.
