Yes, lanterns are craftable. The recipe book (in your inventory) has an option you can toggle, that shows everything you have unlocked the recipe for, whether you currently have the ingredients in inventory or not; and the list is searchable, so you can find out what you need, in order to craft something, once the recipe is unlocked. As a rule, recipes unlock when you "discover" (obtain for the first time) relevant ingredient(s). There are various ways to deal with the "water freezes in this biome" issue. I'm sure you will figure one out at some point, possibly by accident, or possibly by thinking it through. In any casae, once you've got a decent-sized potato garden, you absolutely should make baked potatoes, as they have significantly more food value than raw ones. (IRL, I think they just taste better; but Minecraft is not particularly realistic.) Potatoes are a better food source for you than bread, and then you can save your wheat to feed sheep and cows. (Other animals are less strategically important.) It is eventually possible to get a tool that you can use to pick up things like glass, that otherwise break when you try to pick them up; but you haven't reached that point in the progression yet. For now, if you need to move glass, you can just replace it. Early-game builds don't need to use massive amounts of material, so this isn't a very big deal at this point. Good early-game build project suggestions: * Crop farms * Animal pen or barn * Expand the village * Give your house a basement, or a second floor; either can be used as a storage area or workshop * Perimeter fence around your base (and light up the area inside the fence) * Mine entrance, and a mine that goes down deep enough to find Interesting Things * Watchtower Some people are going to try to talk you into doing reckless things like rushing into the nether, or looking for new features (e.g., trial chambers). But most of your experience is in creative mode, so these suggestions are likely to get you killed; and this is hardcore, so that will end your world; so don't listen to them. Approach such dangers with extreme caution, after extensive preparations. There is no need to even *think* about the nether until you have heavily enchanted diamond armor, and honestly you might want to hold out for a totem as well.
Thank you for all of this. What amazing advice! I hope to craft lanterns eventually, but torches are doing the job for right now. My next steps are making animal pens and to properly build and secure my house. Once I have that I think I will feel much better at protecting myself. I agree that I don’t want to rush. I like to take my time with everything :)

The 'pocket' underneath the ice is probably because only the top water block was a source block, so when it froze, it stopped flowing down. Also, good job on surviving!
Just stumbled over your channel and it is so refreshing to watch someone new to survival/hardcore Minecraft. Just thinking about your humble beginnings being rightfully proud of your achievements (not just the pop up achievements), I still find comments like ‘so spacious for hardcore’ funny to me. I know that you’re only just beginning and you will grow in ability, but compared to people like the Hermits on Hermitcraft (not hardcore, but 10 years of survival experience)…. No I’m not comparing because, so far, I have had just as much fun and enjoyment from watching your first 2 vids and will definitely continue to enjoy them. P.S. any light source near water will stop it freezing. I would also suggest making a shield. It only takes 1 iron ingot and will protect you when you crouch with it in your off hand. Keep up the great work.
very much enjoying this series. i feel seen since i don’t typically play outside of peaceful mode in survival 😭 this series is making me feel more comfortable trying even if i struggle a bit (a lot) 🖤
great video and editing please make more! also if you place a torch next to ice block it'll prevent it from freezing! convert the bones from skeleton to bone meal, and that'll help your crops grow much faster. and since you're in hardcore really focus on getting a shield and strong enchanted diamond or netherite armor it'll help u very much in the long run. cant wait for ep.3!
Great idea! I am thinking of doing a significant upgrade to my farm, gotta make it cute! Torches it is then! I will make a shield so I can brave the caves to find diamonds, eek!
I hope you'll continue this series, gear up do enchantments go to the nether and stuff amd ancient city find the stronghold and defeat the ender dragon but for the meantime take it slowly. 😊 Because i like the way you edit and the way and you talk for a Minecraft video.
Why didn’t RUclips notify me !! Watching this video 5hrs later 😩 but anyway here are some suggestions!! For starters get yourself a shield !! It would protect you from an attack. So when you go mining in caves you don’t have to worry so much on getting attacked just used your shied to protect yourself. To craft it, you just need one iron and I think six blocks of wood. But not so sure.
@@isis_lisette definitely! When I go caving, I make sure to bring at least one sapling and one kind of crop. That way, if I happen to need to love down there for a while, I'm covered lol
Some assumptions you made that I feel the need to correct as I feel it could potentially make your life easier, or if nothing else at least give you more creative freedom with your builds: - crops can and will grow underground - all they need is light, so if you stick torches around them they'll grow just as effectively as they would when outside - you are correct that water will freeze since you're in a snowy biome, but it will only freeze if it's directly exposed to the sky (in a straight line, directly up). You can prevent it from freezing by putting a block anywhere directly above it, such as if you built a roof for your farm - the hearts Patrick gives off every time you feed him a carrot are essentially just telling you he's in what I call "breeding mode", so if there's a second rabbit nearby who you've *also* fed a carrot to, they will breed and produce a baby rabbit. If you aren't doing that, you are essentially wasting carrots which could become a problem this early in a hardcore run if you run out of food - the only way to break glass and receive the block back is to break it using a tool that is enchanted with Silk Touch, otherwise it will drop nothing, as you found out. Shears do, however, let you directly obtain many plant-related blocks such as leaf blocks, vines, or tall grass (the ones you get seeds from) - leaves, when decaying naturally or when broken with something other than shears or a Silk Touch tool, will sometimes drop saplings, of which you have a few in your inventory. Plant them anywhere; they don't need water and will grow into full size trees which will stop you from needing to travel increasingly long distances to cut down trees for wood - other people have said this, but bone meal made from bones is incredibly helpful with growing crops and trees - in an emergency, you can eat the rotten flesh dropped by zombies, but you will get the Hunger status which means that, for a time, your hunger bar will decrease significantly faster. It's usually a net loss of hunger overall, but you can stop the reduction by stopping on the spot and not moving while you have the condition, since moving and doing things is what decreases your hunger. This is more easily done if you've fully enclosed yourself into a box and don't have to worry about being attacked while you wait for the status to end
You are a genius clearly wow. Thank you! - I have seemed to fix the freezing water problem by creating a roof now. - While I do love Patrick, I am not sure he is ready to be a daddy yet so I will be sure to avoid feeding him. - I remembered that there was a way to get glass, although I am in no rush haha. I will get silk touch when I get it. But good to know I can grab leaves and stuff. - Really trying my best to add saplings but I often forget to check on my decomposing trees lol. - I actually know about bonemeal! Thinking of using it only when I am desperate though. - Speaking of desperate, that is my plan for rotten flesh as I am more than content chomping on carrots haha
Cover up your mine because Patrick could fall down and die if he goes down there 😔 Also no mobs can spawn aside from rabbits and polar bears in Tundra. Also the polar bears won't attack unless they have cubs with them.😊
NO BABY PATRICK! I need to make him a bunny room asap. And good to know about the tundra! I need to pull things in by exploring I see. I just want an animal sanctuary so bad
If you cant fight the pillagers you can try to run away from them, when you get more 128 blocs away from them they will de-spawn and it will be safe to go back. When you are in the water you can use the magmablocs to get air, if you sneak you will not take any damage.
if you want fight with endermen and you standing near a wall can you do it safe by dig a hole in the wall 2 height and 2 deep and the endermen will have problem to reach you if you are standing on he inner block, tho it is not 100% safe but if you are standing there while fight you may maybe have a easy pearl and be almost 100% safe from the enderman water wont freeze even in snowy or icy biomes if you cover the water with some block, the heat from a torch works too, but it cant be standing on ice,the icee will smelt and down will the torch go and the water will freeeze :-) if you see gravel/sand and want punch it down, place a torch pn ground there the gravel/sand is and it is easy to pick up after punched it
Genius to all of this. I have managed to fix my farm (spoiler for ep 3) and have been avoiding gravel like the plague. As for endermen, I am SCARED. I know I need their eyeballs to go to the end of the world but I am so nervous to fight them. I need to do more research before I take them around the corner for a smack down.
@@isis_lisette Yeah they are scary and hoglings too, iif you want have easy way to filnd endermen, take a trip in Nether, look for the blue biome but the way to there may be risky {i do not get why it is called blue, to me is the biome green.
