  • I haver decided to put a video out about SANKAKU OSAE GATAME and examine other variation holdings due to the current rules compliance factors needing a look at by Judoka to comply with "rules of referees needs." To say the rules are quirky is an understatement. Weird rules.
A brief look at what is acceptable from competitive examples and what isn't gives a confusing picture to top competitors using "fringe techniques."
Just because you can immobilise someone doesn't mean it is a holding.

This aspect is so underrated in grappling today. Thank you Sensei 🙇🏻

For example at 1:57 is not bad rules bad very bad performance of Tori I think. Ref give him lot of time for working in newaza but he use bad work. At 2:09 he had to try separate opponent's right arm and he had to try juji gatame. But ok it isn't main problem because he has good join his feet and he contolls his opponent on top very good. At 2:28 he can catch oponent's left leg and he can this leg under his body. Then ref had to call osaekomi. But he only lies and doesn't nothing...I think there is not problem in the rules but in the judoka.

Yes of course always it’s judoka problem, to work within rules,
but also we can look at rules and interpretations.
