I also have discus at home but when i got some new big ones home and i did water acclamation and added them with my old one all of them died one by one…..

More than a few days. Keep new fish separated from older fish for few months.
Yea, quarantine needs to be at least 3-4 weeks on a fish this expensive and/or imported. Since they are only being kept at this particular shop for a week before going up for sale, the possibility they are still carrying a parasite is more than zero. You usually don’t notice them losing weight for at least 2 weeks if they come with parasites, especially if they are eating high quality foods. Good luck with your future fish!

Ein super toller Shop! Sehr schöne, gesunde Diskus in sauberen Aquarien. Man merkt gleich, mit wieviel Liebe sie gepflegt werden. Einziger Kritikpunkt: Julidochromis und Diskus gehören nicht in ein Aquarium, da sie eigentlich zu unterschiedliche Wasserwerte benötigen! 😉
I agree that Julidochromis and Discus do not belong together. This was an experiment. It is not working well.

Set up a nice quarantine tank and put new fish in qt for 3-4 weeks before adding to your show aquarium.

Did I miss what pH they keep their discus at? Do they alter it any from their tap?
Actually not sure on that one. If it’s not altered, it would be around 8 (like my water)
@@CichlidBros Best not to chase PH with Discus. I have 10 from Miranda and they all thrive in aged tap water.
We keep them in Chicago tapwater. They can thrive in most pH levels from 6.0-8.5 as long as the pH is consistent. Lower pH for breeding.
During the video i was asking myself "will he pick some discus up?" and then you've answered before i could have written my comment 🤣I had discus in the past, they were alenquers (like the red rose) but I guess my favorites are the red torquoise and its selections, great shop and great fishes, now i cannot host discus again because i have a tank that is too small for them

Cross contamination is a real threat
The new discus are big and healthy. I’d rather introduce to the tank right away to avoid any stress. I also trust the source.
@@CichlidBros agreed that source is ideal. However I personally prefer quarantine.
We always recommend quarantine regardless of the source.
@@chicagodiscus9872 thanks for conclude. I quarantine for a minimum 2 weeks. Also did wild discus quarantine of 45 days
This source looks like they really care for their stuff, but after working in fish stores for 15 years, and owning my own business setting up and maintaining saltwater aquariums for people, ALWAYS quarantine new fish. This is especially important for any fish that come from farms or the wild. When you put $100+ fish into aquariums with other $100+ fish, you need to make sure you protect your investment!

What PH do they recommend? I have always heard German lines seem to do better in harder tap water vs the Asian lines. I breed African cichlids and my ph is 8+ but I have some German discus that are doing well.
@@Steves_fish they will not. But I breed Africans and they love my water. The discus are for my enjoyment and any people that visit the fish room.
You can keep discus at the pH of your tap water. We use Chicago tapwater at pH 7.6. However, for breeding you will want lower pH and softer (R/O) water.

I have three fish, two female and one male. The female mates with the female and lays eggs, but the male does not mate. Is there an answer please? They laid eggs three times and did not marry the male.
