- We take my father in laws 1970 Cuda to the Airfield Drags in Three Rivers Michigan for a day of drag racing down an airport runway! But before we go racing, we had to fine tune the car on the dyno!

Mopar is the way to go,awsome cuda....
Those 340 dusters are no joke!
Cheap pion snubber and a set of drag radials, whole different deal, cool little car.
I own a just want like yours but with a vinyl top. Love you car thank for sharing the video.
Beautiful ‘cuda. Also looked like it’s got some looooong gears in it!
I was thinking that too
Nice barracuda I remember them running around
SXS Blog shirt . Another Michigan RUclipss crew.
THANKS FOR SHARING
I am a GM guy, work at Ford. But love them old Mopar's!
Love cuda's. I learned how to drive a stick shift on my cousin's AAR.
Nice car. I have a 340 Cuda wait for restoration (its a basket case) - this is inspirational.
You gotta be a good brother & help this poor little Cuda.
Hey Guys, it’s great watching and racing old bone stock off the dealership race cars. I mean under 350hp from the factory. Just a Helmet, Tee Shirt, Jeans and your favorite Kicks. Low Budget, Simple, Get To Meet Nice People and really things don’t get much crazy. Great Videos Thank You 🙏. I was going to a wedding in Jackson but caught that rotten Covid so I’m missing Michigan this year. Rats!!!’
That's awesome seeing a street car tuned up on the dyno then turned loose on the drag strip. Ya 1/4 mile woulda been nice. Mabey later like you said.
I'm loving the lens flares Allyson! Keep up the good work.
nice looking car
It was a good time and great meeting you guys. Thats good hp gain just from a few adjustments.
That 70 Cuda sure is clean. Good to see something different... guess we won't be seeing any T Shirts with it on them, lol. Allyson, the Camera lens was clean, whatever is he talking about? LOL
Jorden is it a requirementt to get in your family you have to have an awsome car. Excelent keep grinden guys
it's 310 hp at the crank....340's made 330-380 hp at the crank when new..Depending on 4 bbl or 6bbl...So,your 340 is in line with a stock tune factory 340..
If you dialed it in its a high 12 low 13 sec car...But easily 13 second cars...at least back in the day thats what guys were running, then you had bad drivers boiling tires to 14's or 16's lol...and today guys not wanting to tear up their car so run for fun..
My buddy ran his 340 Challenger and beat up 396 Chevelle's,Pontiac GTO's,Buick GS 400's..
perfect baby for a vintage 426 alloy headed or even a donovan block hemi = now i am sure your dad knows something = and your a drag car fan = see what you can find = suprise surprise - lot`s of old parts .
i like the car, this is my option only but i think if the hood was black the car would look a lot better, i did my yellow mopar with a black hood and it looks so much better, but its cool the way it is also, have fun brother
That's right GM hands down!.....
Prettiest 'Cuda ever! No wonder y'all wanted to buy it!
Thank You for the video.
That might be the first time I have seen someone shifting a pistol grip shifter, outside of Kowalski. I am more of a vette guy but I would love to own a 70 Challenger.
The camera might be a little dirty. The rest of the filming was perfect, action in shot, zoming on point. Nice work.
I'm a Chrysler guy and I watch your Channel. I believe a Chrysler used to own the fast racing series years ago, wasn't it Les Dudek? I think that was his name
Dave not Les. I wouldn’t say owned. Chrysler won about every race for a few years when there was only about 3-4 cars in the class. Everyone really thought the class was coming to an end. If anyone owned the class years ago it was Lane Carry in his Mustang. He was the first car in the 9s ended up going 9.83. And held that record for about 10 years.
Who's got it better than you dude!! The only possible way I could see your life being any better was if you lived in New York and were a New York jets fan! 😊😊
A 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust with your choice of muffs couldn't hurt..... PSMCDR here we come.
That’s a pretty car!
I think those 340s were rated at 275 BHP so 245 at the rear wheels isn't too shabby. I had a friend with a 340 Duster and it felt fairly quick. That reminded me of more simple times at the drags .... drive it there and hope you don't blow something up, burn your hands changing plugs, then drive back home.
For sure! It was a good time just to relax, not really beat on the car and just have fun! Sometimes less is more!
This makes roughly 310 hp stock 340's were underrated they made 330-380 hp,4bbl and 6bbl...A little tuning you can get 360 hp from a 340..
They tested it on hub dyno vs a chassis dyno so the % power loss is less. The power is not “at the rear wheels”. It’s at the rear axles in a hub dyno. There is a significant difference.
I would drive one. Closest thing to a first gen Camaro.
Been repainted?
That Cuda would look nice if it was blue like that Duster
The Cuda must be much heavier than the Duster. Should find another stock Cuda or Challenger to race. I had a 70 Challenger 440 Sixpack in high school still on the 5/50 warranty. I had guys wanting to race me with 340's. I kept them thinking saying it was stock till they actually looked at the huge hood emblems. 440 SIXPACK.
Definitely heavier than a Duster! Worth it though as they are awesome looking classic muscle cars.
how short is that track
Lol...even if it is a Mopar its still nice.
How many nights did you make him sleep in the shop for that ?😅😅😅😅
If the camera lens was clean I think he would have won 🏁🏁
Yes these are the kind of comments I’m looking for! Hahaha!
😃
Ya took your foot off the gas shifting. WTF?
With this car, yes. We weren’t there to break stuff.
Thats required with all pistol grips. In 1970 the choice shifter of ANY new fast car was the auto Slapstick! Imo. A stock corvette stone crusher with the stock shifter linkage changed to the quicker shift positions on the trans gear levers was great for not missing a shift.
@@aphil4581- Pistol grip shifters look cool but they are garbage for drag racing as the throws are way too long.
240 hp thats not accurate that car is more like 320hp
Good prospect for a f.a.s.t. car?
No. It’s just a driver.
Stock Honda's make more HP than that 😂
Not in the1970 s.😂
It took Chrysler to 1970 to get a very good looking car. Lose that ridiculous looking wing on the back.
It didn’t have it when my father in law built it. The gentleman he sold it to drilled a non factory wing deck lid to put it on… he’s been looking for an original deck lid to paint and take the wing back off.
That Barracuda is a pig, sorry don't mean to be rude but 240hp with a 340cc. 😂
That was 10 min of my life wasted
Stick around, you can always watch it again when you have another ten minutes to spare.
