    I have a Meyers VB750,very similar to your Artex.The beaters look identical,can be removed pretty easy for stockpiling.Love the spread pattern,lot scrapping or pack does a beautiful job.They do not like rocks though!Enjoy!

    That spreader does a real nice job, not many big clumps. Perfect spreader for hay ground I would say.

    Those spreaders do a nice job , I think you are putting on a good rate for alfalfa. I spread an alfalfa field with 4X that amount but my hay will be taken out.

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      yea.... this field may or may not be taken out BUT my thoughts are instead of pounding only limited acres why not spread over more acres especially since we will have to use commercial fertilizer to balance it out. And as far amount is kinda hard to tell .... it looks way thinner than my old box spreader BUT this one just has so many less clumps its really hard to judge. thinking somewhere between 30-40000 pounds spread on 1.21 acres... but i just dont know LOL. and im not gunna drive to town to weight it full either LOL

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo 6 лет назад +1

      I only had limited acres and I new we were going to break it so they put on the max. Your spreader breaks it up so nice and I'm sure you have good rate that will help build your soil and give the nutrients. I took a course on manure/nutrient management and if your spreader is good and the manure is dry it should look light and it will give you all the bonus without burning the next crop.

    Good day Boy those rear beaters spreader are really nice. But what I can't see is spending $40,000+ for something that might get used 2 a yr. 2 bros. could not get along, each had their own spreader. They are nice spreading. They are starting to rent them now. Thanks

    On a different topic. How long have those bales ben sitting in the field? Have you limited space for storing round bales?

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад +1

      bales have been setting there for year and a half er so.. we take the older bales off and feed them first then stack the new bales where the old bales are. We leave as many bales in the fields as we can because of space and the risk of fire. We do haul off the farther away fields first in hopes to get them gathered before too much snow. If we had all of our yearly supply of hay in once spot and had a fire we would be screwed. Takes lots of work to make 2000 bales hate to see it go up in smoke

    That's a huge set up Ted

  • @keiterfarms5470

    Good video. How do u compare the spread pattern between ur new spreader vs ur old new Holland?

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      biggest differance is the width.... this spreader im on a 20 foot spread but it is overlapping quite a bit every pass . the new holland spreader had a narrower spread. The second biggest differance is this spreader has very few big chunks that make it through. it doesnt matter how high you stack it. With the older new holland if you ened up filling too full the chunks could fall out the back with out the beater breaking them up.... so way finer spread and then with the overlap it seems very consistant with this new machine

    • @keiterfarms5470
      @keiterfarms5470 6 лет назад

      Ted Kahler so by the way it sounds u prefer the vertical over the horizontal

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      yes i like the vertical better for what im wanting to do. may be more money in maintenance down the road but.... only time will tell that

    • @keiterfarms5470
      @keiterfarms5470 6 лет назад

      the vertical has more of a fine broadcast vs the horizontal is more of thinker broadcast. Have u ever thought about getting a Kuhn Knight?

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      I did look at some but felt this spreader was built heavier. And i dont have much for service for kuhn knight where im at

  • @timerfarms113
    @timerfarms113 6 лет назад

    Could u do a pan test like for a fertilizer spreader to figure out ur rate. Like the multi camera angles.

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

    Have you heard of hagedorn and is that tractor cvt?

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      the tractor is just a power shift.... too old to even have that option lol.... i have heard of them spreaders i think they actually use the same beaters on the back....

  • @PAFarms

    I was looking for a spreader the past few days. I can’t figure what style would be the best for dry poultry manure. I don’t like the rear beater. I can’t get it to spread even. Not sure if a side slinger would do a better job.

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  6 лет назад

      with this spreader i think it would work good.... you can even run the door half open to regulate how much is comming out of the back. I think the vertical beaters will spread anything pretty good

    • @TheRancher250
      @TheRancher250 6 лет назад

      PA Farms BBI, Chandler, and Warren all make outstanding litter/lime spreaders. That’s about all anyone uses here in the southeast. They will also spread composted manure/hay as long as it isn’t sloppy wet.

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating 6 лет назад

      PA Farms we've got a Meyer 7500 that we replaced a8124 slinger with. It's not as big as what Ted has but it works good on liquid and pen pack. Ted's spreader would be what I would prefer but we have a few hills and would need quite the horse on the front of it.

    • @coreytrout3857
      @coreytrout3857 6 лет назад

      PA Farms pik rite has vertical beater spreaders in 250 and 400 bushels and are made in PA. I have an older one with a horizontal beater but they are good spreaders

    • @homaninc.258
      @homaninc.258 5 лет назад

      Artex also has a Cyclone package that is litter and lime specific that does a really nice job. Plus you don't have to worry about bridging that happens with the BBI's and Chandlers.
