    Long but the only place I could place a real review without limits...I have see people on here (Tripadvisor) talking about the pools, staff, etc. Most were positive but let me explain some things. We just got back. 2 days after the Nor'easter in New England 2018!
    1st off, this place is paradise. The staff are welcoming, and we NEVER passed someone on a golf cart or walking that DIDNT say "Hola" to us and with a smile.
    You have Casitas, rooms, private suites...all different all with pools, bars, beds, chairs etc.
    It has multiple pools and bars. The pools are designated for your room/casitas/area. It is like an unspoken rule that you stay in your pool area/pool bar. You are permitted to go anywhere and many people pool hop. We saw and heard first hand from the bartender as people were pool/bar hopping (4 adults from the other side of the resort taking up space and chairs at our pool) that they really want you to stay in your area. The pools are big but when you have 10 to 12 casitas with each holding 2 people, the pool in that area can get busy when people pool hop. They do ask for your room number when you get a drink so they know where you should be. (its not a bad thing really, go enjoy yourself and meet new people)They dont frown upon it, they just prefer you stay in your area mostly. There are other huge pools for anyone to use at any time. So when you see some one "saving" a pool lounge chair, this is why they do it, other people from other areas of the resort will come to your pool when they should stay at or around their area. Keep in mind also, that there are beds along the ocean only feet from the pools. See pictures. And keep in mind, most resorts have only 2 or 3 pools to share with hundreds of people everyday, this resort has a pool per area....like 9 or 10 or more pools. Stay in your area and venture out to the big pools for a change of scenery but keep in mind, you could be sharing 1 pool with hundreds others. The most we saw at ours was 12 people...and keep in mind also...NO KIDS!!!
    Next, the ocean has the blocks in it due to the hurricanes last year. (if you google map it, it is in the shape of an Aztec snake) They are trying to rebuild the coral reefs and gain more for the fish. The seaweed you see does not stink. In fact, it is quite soft and not slimy or gross. Hundreds of miles into this ocean is a massive circle of this seaweed. When the hurricanes happened last year, it swept tons of this seaweed on shore. They were outside working in the sun daily to remove it and had made huge progress when we were leaving. We stayed Feb 25th thru March 4th. There are iguanas every where! They don't bother you so dont bother them!
    The smell (which is limited and not too overpowering is NOT throughout the entire resort and is NOT the seaweed) They have their own water filtration system and it will smell occasionally. Nothing you cant handle!
    The rooms were spotless, they do have a turn down service we didnt know about. We were actually in the bed (long flight) at 10pm when they came to turn the beds down the first night. They are the nicest and sweetest people we have met in years. Not like a fake niceness but a genuine welcome to Mexico niceness. The mini bar is restocked daily, you have the option of getting your linens done every night or every 3 nights, and they keep you stocked in towels.
    Room service ALWAYS came within 30 mins. So when the pool bars close at 5 there are other bars open later. You just have to walk or catch a shuttle cart. They are on timers of every 20 mins. You can also call your concierge and they will send one when you ask for it. Our concierge was Adriane and he was fabulous. He set our dinner reservations, excursions, outside trips and more for the entire week and all we had to do was go. If you stay in touch with them, you will have no problems on anything you need.
    If you go, READ THE BROCHURES. There are restaurants you will need reservations for and most you dont. Bring pants, nice shoes and ladies, nice sandals, sundress or nice clothes for these. Yes, it is fine gourmet dinning and yes, it will take a while but it is WELL WORTH IT. You have plenty of time so enjoy the dinner and dont complain....you wont miss a flight or anything! They do have bottled water and will leave you plenty if you wish for coffee or whatever and they have infused water which I loved at restaurants
    Tipping....we tipped and you dont have to. But these people do such a wonderful and hard job that you want the best for them because they do the best for you while you are there. We should've tipped more but we just didn't know. At least every other shuttle drive or the long ones, tip the concierge, TIP the housekeeper. We LOVED Lety M and tipped her well, tip the bartender or leave him $20 for the week...either way that's what we did!
    Advice, download an app for Mexican to US currency. Their rate changes daily but its still close. No one ever tried to swindle us at the shops but it could happen and probably does.
    You will walk. We brought our fitbits and never walked less than 10,000 steps per day. it was awesome! Great exercise and bars to stop at along the way!

    hi there - great video! We're looking at doing our honeymoon here in June and one of the biggest things we keep noticing is you NEVER see anyone around...people's pictures and videos are always void of entertainment, music, or even other couples/people. Wondering if this is as quiet as they say? Any feedback is appreciated!

    • @sbgriffy
      @sbgriffy 8 лет назад

      +Angie Lusk we are in casitas. is there any entertainment, music, shows etc during the day or is it primarily at just royale? It just seems like no one is even in pictures in the pool in other videos we've seen.

    • @harleymorgan3237
      @harleymorgan3237 7 лет назад

      Yes Crisofer. Idf you have a swim up suite you just walk out your back slider and into the lazy river. You can also puck it up in different locations such as one of the pools or a walkover.

    We are considering this resort in August 2017. Our first all inclusive experience was not the best in the Domincan Republic because the A/C in the room either did not work or that is the way it always is. How is the A/C in the rooms?

      Hello Shane. I have stayed at the EDR 6 times at different times of the year and have found the AC to work WELL in all seasons. It may even freeze you out :). Have a great time. I am sure you enjoy this resort. It is a lot better than DR.
