And they said that the Carl and Negan bond from the comics will be 'brief' and it might be shared with another person, so maybe Enid and Carl will share that role in the comics. In the comics it's originally Carl who goes after Negan after killing Glenn for revenge, he ends up killing a lot of Negan's men with a huge assault rifle thats like 5 times his size, so maybe Carl will share that story line with Enid, and Carl's storyline in the comics after the whole Eeny Meenie Miny Moe thing is really really important to the storyline, and it's actually pretty funny too, so if he shares that with Enid that'll be really hilarious to watch because in the comics it's literally the funniest thing I've ever seen so far in the comic books. So those sightings kind of confirm that Carl doesn't get the bat but you know.
I think it was Kirkman who said during the season ending Talking Dead episode, "Everyone is going to 'Zapruder-ize' the final moments of the episode"....pretty slick....he may have purposely told us who Negan killed, since Zapruder's first name is Abraham.
What comes next? Loads of aimless talking, debates framed to sound philosophical, occasional zombie outbreak, characters who are normally intelligent are written to make stupid decisions and die and then a few good episodes here and there. It can't be Maggie because in the comics she becomes leader of the Hilltop and in the Show Rick pushes her to do the talking with Gregory, sort of getting her ready to be a leader. It won't be Abraham because he got killed in the comics by the crossbow, so If they decided not to kill him there I doubt they will kill him now. It won't be Michonne either. The only logical choice really is the character that dies in the comics....
