It's really interesting how Scaramouche has ended up under Nahida's custody and how similar both of them are but how different their way of facing their problem was: Both were created as a substitute of their mothers and left on their own and then had to suffer the cruelty of the world and specifically of humans, however, meanwhile Scaramouche dived into a generalist point of view about them, believing all humans are inherintly bad or not worth fighting for; Nahida instead of closing herself, she decided to study humans to understand them and reached the conclusion that each person is unique and holds different reactions to the same subject hence she doesn't need to hold grudge for a bunch of rotten apples. I really look foward to see how their interactions will be in 3.3 during Scaramouche's quest since I'm 100% sure that she would have been the one taking care of him all this time.
Nahida did closed off her heart for a while. But it's a way for her to protect herself and everyone around her too from being corrupted by the Sages. Still, closing oneself from the surroundings is also a sense of despair. Until we come to her rescues, she was willing to put herself to sleep. So in a way, both Nahida and Scaramouche did closed off their heart. Just for difference reason and different purpose. And how they handle it also different. Nahida closed off her heart so she wouldn't hurt the others. Scaramouche closed off his heart and hurt the others.
Man, what I saw this teaser, I'm starting to root for him, not as Scaramouche but as the Wanderer. Regardless of which language you have choosen, is was so weird to not hear him speak on his usual arrogant tone, but he sounded so tired, angry and willing to die among flames. And maybe that toy soldier story was the answer to Scaramouche's question. He always had a heart, but he himself can't seem to understand and because such lack of oneself's understading of emotions, he desperatly thinks that he needs physical proof for that heart a.k.a Gnosis.
I really agree with this. I think the point of the story was that the toy soldier had a heart all along but scaramouche kinda failed to understand that, because he doesn’t really understand his emotions or emotions in general. :( Honestly one of the best trailers
It's actually character teaser. His character trailer might come out sooner. Everyone has been hyped since he has been announced as playable and it has been almost 2 years.
HOW- within the first MINUTE of the teaser and you identify the sound of his heartbeat. How do you do it? You are a genius at dissecting music and I am all here for it! I think it fits perfectly too because Scaramouche considers a heart a physical thing (the way he talks about the ashes). He says he doesn't have one but that's not true. He is clearly capable of love and that matters more than something physical. And it's just so sad how much importance he puts into a physical thing to be his heart when really he has one all along, hence the heartbeat.
Wanderer being a play on the Toy Soldier classic combined with Scaramouche from the commedia dell'arte is quite the emotional rollercoaster. All he wanted was to understand emotions, to feel loved, yet at every turn he felt betrayal. You really hit the nail on the head with his character.
im so overjoyed to see you this invested in one specific part of the game because you really are just a gem in the fanbase like you bring so much to the community with the commentary and the musical knowledge and the passion and the atmosphere in your videos. i think thats why to me it feels so nice to see you as interested in the world and characters as we are.
If we’re talking about sad character teasers than Nahida’s is a must watch. God I didn’t really expect it to take such a visual turn but man was it amazing.
The whole thing made me just cry. Not only the music hits you in the feels, but also the voice acting and animation. Especially the english voice actor, he didn't need to go THAT hard😭 Oh my god, when I listened to you voicing out Scara's emotions, I honestly think you hit the nail on the head. Scaramouche would be a whole different being if he just had someone to guide him the right path. His whole past is made up from misunderstandings and pain, pain of loss mainly, in my opinion. By the way, the story the boy told Scaramouche was a version of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen! And they are often making references to Bohemian Rhapsody with Scaramouche, not only his name but for example ''Never been born at all'' in this case. I love Scara a lot as a character. You don't need to only like the ''good guys'' - even villains can be likable and Scara's story is one of the best written stories for characters we have so far. At least, for me, of course.
Scaramouche is definitely one of the best characters in the game. While I love almost all the Genshin characters they aren’t really multi-dimensional. Almost all of them are seen as these powerful figures who are kind and loved by almost everyone else and what “flaws” they have aren’t really negative aspects of their personality, and so these flaws never land them in serious trouble. Any problem they find themselves in is either their fault but they meant well so they never take proper responsibility or a NPC's fault. But Scara actually DOES have real, tangible flaws, particularly his high and mighty act he puts on to cover his insecurity, loneliness and self-hatred, and as a result not only do other people view him negatively but he hurts them as well to assuage his insecurities. So it’s not a surprise that he isn’t loved by anyone, really, not even by the other Harbingers, and the game never portrays him as this powerful figure, which is further shown by his boss fight where when he was at his peak, it was because he relied on other people. (Dottore, the sages and the gnosis). Plus, when 3.3 comes, he will be the only character who loses something of high value to him (the gnosis), learns to get over that loss and take responsibility over his own actions to then learn to find value in his own self and become a better person. Like, I don’t think any of the other in-game characters are like that. Let’s hope that 3.3 doesn’t fuck him over and have his redemption arc be him losing his memories.

I like many characters, especially Childe and Kaeya because they seem to me like the most interesting ones based on their stories and potential in the future story, but Scaramouche is really different. I kinda pity people who can't look past their hate for him - you don't have to absolutely love him, but the writing of his character is one of, if not the best we have.
It still amazes me how much people can get just from music and I love that, because musicians put so many emotions and passion in their work, all these break downs open my eyes to their works and make appreciate it even more than before

Scaramouche and Nahida are two characters meant to meet ! Both their birth were chaos and their trailer show it quite well. I don't know if you took a look to Nahida's but she's one sad of a kid too in her presentation and the music to present it is a very nice contrast !
I like how Italian and Russian players have this "I want all fatui in my team" because of the cultural references. Another amazing reaction video from you! His character teaser made me cry an entire ocean lol, it's so heart wrenching. I love it. The music makes you feel even more sad, I really love all of his themes, especially the ones used in his backstory cutscenes. They're so driven with emotions, they tug your heart strings for sure. Not to mention the incredible voice acting in all languages, especially EN. His entire story is so tragic, I could only imagine the turmoil and pain he's felt all these years. The desire to feel loved, to feel worthy, to be happy for once in a world so cruel that steals away everything he could ever ask for. All his friends died in such tragic ways, and he ends up alone just like at the very beginning shortly after he was stripped of his purpose in life. As you said, he's a three dimensional character and I could talk about his character in depth all day. I love him so much.
Scaramouche is really living up to the Bohemian Rhapsody memes... you haven't experienced all the story and lore yet, but the more you know, the more his story makes direct references to the song
It kinda feels like Scaramouche is still trying to figure out what to do with his trauma (after centuries, i know), as opposed to Signora who has clearly taken her trauma and said, "The world must burn!" Also Scaramouche/Wanderer's VA in English and Japanese (haven't heard the VAs in other languages yet) are absolutely killing it! That fragility and anger in their voices were done spectacularly.
This Sumeru story arc has fleshed out Scaramouche's character so much more and it's amazing. Love the analysis and break down of the themes in the teaser. Also will you be streaming the pulls for Scaramouche?
I love your reactions! You catch so many subtle queues inside the music and the video. Scaramouche/Wanderer has one of the saddest stories ever. Another really deep character is Xiao. Both of these Anemo characters posses rage, helplessness, loneliness, and exquisite agony. They are two of the characters that I've related to the most. I've experienced betrayals and loneliness, coming from my broken childhood. I could understand in some respect the depth of these two characters. Despite the tragedies, the two of them took very different routes. Though I am happy to see Scaramouche finally reaching the turning point of his story.

I'm fascinated that Wanderer/Scaramouche seems to have the most complex musical theme out of the whole cast. Characters like Ei and Zhongli have a single distinctive melody that is associated with their leitmotif, but Wanderer seems to have three: "Ominous Fandango," the "Divine Will"/"Three Betrayals" melody used in this teaser, and the melody after the beat drop from his boss fight and demo.
LOL right, she's such a complex and wide dimensional character but she's so often reduced to "waifu material" to the fandom (honestly almost all genshin women are)

I like Raiden because three words Honkai Impact Sawashiro Miyuki Ju Hua Hua I was already aware what was going to deal with. Despite I feel scared with her, I feel safe within her since did understand what she went through without any help and support (Yae Miko was too young and waiting for Kitsune Saiguu and realized that she won't come back)
@@shubniggurath9097 True, there's a reason why Inazuma is fractured, messy, and the most depressing region by far and that reason is Raiden. Even Nahida is a way better Archon and she is a 500 year old child who was imprisoned her whole life.

Here we see Scaramouche wanting to be loved and seen and accepted. On the other hand, in the Genshin community, people are losing their shit since finally Scaramouche is coming in the banners and they can wish for him. Oh, my dear boy, how I wish I could break that fourth wall for you, so you realize how much people love you :P He might be one of the most awaited non-archon characters perhaps along with Signora (who we may not get anymore perhaps) and Ayaka (since I hear she was one of the earliest designed characters) maybe idk
some of us have gone through the same feeling at least once in our life. feeling unworthy, unloved, unwanted... feels that we disappointed everyone else and that our existence doesn't hold any worth, might as well never been born. and we all cope with it differently, some turn to anger and hatred, some learn to accept it and surrender ourselves to the negativity, and some other... decided to end it once and for all.
Interesting because that part of the music that sounds like his heartbeat its part of his theme "Ominous Fandango" which you missed on his battle theme reaction. It plays most of the time when you meet him in game.

I believe why people resonate and emphasize with Scaramoush is his _Pain_. A lot of us have some sort of _pain, trauma, regret etc._ by which we wished for our selfs to neve be born and turn back time. The wish to be heard out, the wish to be seen as an existant being in this cruel world and see for who I'm truly am, is really hard to accomplish. The challenging part to this is finding the right people who will be willing in hearing you and and accepting for who you are. Lastly, of course, thank you Marco for the wonderful analysis 🙏
possibly the most emotionally agonizing track so far in the franchise, the string section really sells the pain in his story, without even looking at the trailer, you can see each part of his life that contributed to his character. you can clearly hear a time when life seemed hopeful to him, something to look forward to, the sudden death of his friend drilled into you by the violins mimicking the dancing fire, then the soft dissonance, the chord change, showing his breaking point, where that very moment changed him into something dark, but the overwhelming sadness swells up in that last movement no matter how angry he gets and finally, the low strings with the arrival of his new self. telling stories through music is the coolest shit ever

a small detail, he was actually the one who set the house on fire after the child died, my theory is he did this in order to see whether a heart will form from the ashes or not. otherwise, this is a great video, i saw the trailer about 10 times and i never noticed the heartbeat sound! i love the passion you have for the music and especially for scaramouche himself, i feel like he is a greatly misunderstood character in both the game and the community.

I really appreciate hearing your interpretation of teaser/trailer music. Boss themes are so front and centre but so often with narrated shorts like this I overlook the music within. Watching you analyze just the music first really gives me a deeper appreciation for the whole teaser.

i felt so bad watching this video bc its such a nice commentary on it and YEAH its just all so sad (i spent a lot of time yesterday just watching in different versions and tearing up a bit ngl, doesn't help that it incorporates one of my most beloved beloathed fairytales from childhood...... but some of the subtitles just killed me. especially "i need to pee" that destroyed the entire first half LOL

Once again, right on target, Marco! I'm just gonna post a similar comment from another video because I don't wanna type it up again, lol: This teaser story was very poetic the more I watch it: The idea of one's heart being found from the embers of disaster loops around a couple times just in the span of this short trailer. The child tells Scara the story of the Steadfast Tin Soldier (albeit slightly altered to fit the narrative here). It seems that the soldier always had a heart and it was only revealed to be so in the ashes of misfortune. Then later on when Scara utters "what a joke... it's just ashes... nothing left but ashes" is the confirmation of the world's ultimate joke in his eyes and he was always the punchline. No hearts are truly born from ashes. It was all a lie. Not even the child left anything behind from the fire. Then, at the end we have Wanderer going back through his memories (I presume) and finally finding the "heart" that always eluded him; turns out it was him all along in the center of that fire. Not all of us have the courage to go back to our past selves and show understanding, compassion and reconciliation but it is surely an effective method to help heal trauma. I can't wait to see how Hoyoverse tells his story in the next update.
I want to say a big thank you for the subtitles Marco. I am not an English speaker, but I know him quite well, which allows me to +- translate English videos. But I'm bad at hearing, and subtitles really help out because I love watching your videos
aaah idk if you picked up on it, but so much of scaramouche's backstory is related to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. it's a very random association, but the song fits PERFECTLY to his backstory and character. it's so cool.
I think it’s interesting that Ei decided to cut his strings and give him freedom by basically abandoning him, when she enforced so much control over her human subjects. I think she knew she had unintentionally created a new life, I think she couldn’t bare any more death so she didn’t destroy him, but also wasn’t in a position to want to get close to anyone again, so she let him go. She may have thought it was kindness, but Scaramouche obviously did not see it that way.
You mentioned that at the beginning the piano notes were from Inazuma and at some point is was a different rendering of a part of his boss fight. I didn't even notice these things. Musicians are amazing.

In 3.1 we see a cutscene that portrays the three betrayals Scaramouche faced that set him down this path that he is on. It's heavily implied in that cutscene that he set that fire himself, and with this teaser, we learn the other half to that premise. He had remembered that child's story, and out of desperation and grief, and maybe a glimmer of hope to find some relief amidst this suffering, that he could find a heart in the ashes. Of course, it doesn't happen. And that is the point of grim acceptance of the reality he had hoped would not be true. The, "What a joke. It's just ashes. Nothing left but ashes." There is no heart for him to find. Not even ashes in the shape of a heart. There is no hope for him to ever be accepted as a part of this world or its people.
idk how in other language it goes but in JP Gnosis name translates into God's Heart, that adds more question to Scaramouche himself as what exactly is this heart he was wishing for.
Yes, also in Chinese. Japanese and Chinese basically share some of the same characters, not all. But most likely there it little to no difference in words with Japanese but Chinese. But the most notable change for me is when Childe introduced himself as "prince/young lord/some kind of kid with high social status" mostly that word is used for prince as a compliment tho (thays why Paimon was a bit upset at him) Maybe also used more often in other situations, but I've never been in those situations.
Since the first time I saw Scaramouche I love him. I didn’t even play a year but I just love him like ppl who wait since to years for him. I know the feeling that Scaramouche feels so I really want to pull for him bc he is the first character i really feel related to. And all the Voice actors make a good job. That makes me much more a Wanderer fan❤
Scaramouche has definetly becomed one of my favorite characters in the entire game as time has passed. I am lucky enough to have been playing since 1.1, so i have had all of the interactions with and about him that have been in game, and each time has just solidified him higher and higher on my mind. I would say if you're interested in more characters that had a similar connection to frailty, Xiao's character teaser "The Guardian Adepti" shows a different and deeper side to him that his characteer trailer "Doombane" gave him!
I didn't even notice that the strings played his (battle) theme, I was too warped up in the Inazuma theme with a slow piano, thanks for pointing that out. Can't wait for his story to unfold. I really hope for a redemption arc, not just for him, but for his mother, too. What can I say, I'm a real sap. And last but not least, absolute kudos to the Hoyoverse team that is making those trailers. Being able to sneak in yet another reference to Bohemian Rhapsody while not taking away from the deep anguish portrayed in the scene, _chef's kiss_.
Marco, you show how you havnt actually been through the game's story. His Mother - Raiden Ei's second story quest literally has a heart tugging sad as heck moment talking to the ghost of her dead sister. And in Sumeru after defeating Scaramouche - Nahida is more or less forced to remove her own mother from all existance to save the whole world. Game barely has any happy moments around when story is involved. Either way your ability to read a video's emotions from the music alone - without watching it is still amazing and i love it. PS: Make your typical reaction to Nahida & Rukkhadevata's scene, I am sure you wont be dissapointed ( but you might be a bit sad)

It's really interesting how Scaramouche has ended up under Nahida's custody and how similar both of them are but how different their way of facing their problem was:
Both were created as a substitute of their mothers and left on their own and then had to suffer the cruelty of the world and specifically of humans, however, meanwhile Scaramouche dived into a generalist point of view about them, believing all humans are inherintly bad or not worth fighting for; Nahida instead of closing herself, she decided to study humans to understand them and reached the conclusion that each person is unique and holds different reactions to the same subject hence she doesn't need to hold grudge for a bunch of rotten apples.
I really look foward to see how their interactions will be in 3.3 during Scaramouche's quest since I'm 100% sure that she would have been the one taking care of him all this time.

Nahida did closed off her heart for a while. But it's a way for her to protect herself and everyone around her too from being corrupted by the Sages. Still, closing oneself from the surroundings is also a sense of despair. Until we come to her rescues, she was willing to put herself to sleep. So in a way, both Nahida and Scaramouche did closed off their heart. Just for difference reason and different purpose. And how they handle it also different. Nahida closed off her heart so she wouldn't hurt the others. Scaramouche closed off his heart and hurt the others.
Man, what I saw this teaser, I'm starting to root for him, not as Scaramouche but as the Wanderer. Regardless of which language you have choosen, is was so weird to not hear him speak on his usual arrogant tone, but he sounded so tired, angry and willing to die among flames.
And maybe that toy soldier story was the answer to Scaramouche's question. He always had a heart, but he himself can't seem to understand and because such lack of oneself's understading of emotions, he desperatly thinks that he needs physical proof for that heart a.k.a Gnosis.

I really agree with this. I think the point of the story was that the toy soldier had a heart all along but scaramouche kinda failed to understand that, because he doesn’t really understand his emotions or emotions in general. :(

HOW- within the first MINUTE of the teaser and you identify the sound of his heartbeat. How do you do it? You are a genius at dissecting music and I am all here for it!
I think it fits perfectly too because Scaramouche considers a heart a physical thing (the way he talks about the ashes). He says he doesn't have one but that's not true. He is clearly capable of love and that matters more than something physical. And it's just so sad how much importance he puts into a physical thing to be his heart when really he has one all along, hence the heartbeat.

Wanderer being a play on the Toy Soldier classic combined with Scaramouche from the commedia dell'arte is quite the emotional rollercoaster. All he wanted was to understand emotions, to feel loved, yet at every turn he felt betrayal. You really hit the nail on the head with his character.

If we’re talking about sad character teasers than Nahida’s is a must watch. God I didn’t really expect it to take such a visual turn but man was it amazing.
The whole thing made me just cry. Not only the music hits you in the feels, but also the voice acting and animation. Especially the english voice actor, he didn't need to go THAT hard😭
Oh my god, when I listened to you voicing out Scara's emotions, I honestly think you hit the nail on the head. Scaramouche would be a whole different being if he just had someone to guide him the right path. His whole past is made up from misunderstandings and pain, pain of loss mainly, in my opinion.
By the way, the story the boy told Scaramouche was a version of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen!
And they are often making references to Bohemian Rhapsody with Scaramouche, not only his name but for example ''Never been born at all'' in this case.
I love Scara a lot as a character. You don't need to only like the ''good guys'' - even villains can be likable and Scara's story is one of the best written stories for characters we have so far. At least, for me, of course.
Scaramouche is definitely one of the best characters in the game. While I love almost all the Genshin characters they aren’t really multi-dimensional. Almost all of them are seen as these powerful figures who are kind and loved by almost everyone else and what “flaws” they have aren’t really negative aspects of their personality, and so these flaws never land them in serious trouble. Any problem they find themselves in is either their fault but they meant well so they never take proper responsibility or a NPC's fault. But Scara actually DOES have real, tangible flaws, particularly his high and mighty act he puts on to cover his insecurity, loneliness and self-hatred, and as a result not only do other people view him negatively but he hurts them as well to assuage his insecurities.
So it’s not a surprise that he isn’t loved by anyone, really, not even by the other Harbingers, and the game never portrays him as this powerful figure, which is further shown by his boss fight where when he was at his peak, it was because he relied on other people. (Dottore, the sages and the gnosis). Plus, when 3.3 comes, he will be the only character who loses something of high value to him (the gnosis), learns to get over that loss and take responsibility over his own actions to then learn to find value in his own self and become a better person.
Like, I don’t think any of the other in-game characters are like that. Let’s hope that 3.3 doesn’t fuck him over and have his redemption arc be him losing his memories.

I like many characters, especially Childe and Kaeya because they seem to me like the most interesting ones based on their stories and potential in the future story, but Scaramouche is really different. I kinda pity people who can't look past their hate for him - you don't have to absolutely love him, but the writing of his character is one of, if not the best we have.

Another amazing reaction video from you! His character teaser made me cry an entire ocean lol, it's so heart wrenching. I love it. The music makes you feel even more sad, I really love all of his themes, especially the ones used in his backstory cutscenes. They're so driven with emotions, they tug your heart strings for sure. Not to mention the incredible voice acting in all languages, especially EN.
His entire story is so tragic, I could only imagine the turmoil and pain he's felt all these years. The desire to feel loved, to feel worthy, to be happy for once in a world so cruel that steals away everything he could ever ask for. All his friends died in such tragic ways, and he ends up alone just like at the very beginning shortly after he was stripped of his purpose in life.
As you said, he's a three dimensional character and I could talk about his character in depth all day. I love him so much.
Scaramouche is really living up to the Bohemian Rhapsody memes... you haven't experienced all the story and lore yet, but the more you know, the more his story makes direct references to the song
It kinda feels like Scaramouche is still trying to figure out what to do with his trauma (after centuries, i know), as opposed to Signora who has clearly taken her trauma and said, "The world must burn!"
Also Scaramouche/Wanderer's VA in English and Japanese (haven't heard the VAs in other languages yet) are absolutely killing it! That fragility and anger in their voices were done spectacularly.
This Sumeru story arc has fleshed out Scaramouche's character so much more and it's amazing. Love the analysis and break down of the themes in the teaser.

I love your reactions! You catch so many subtle queues inside the music and the video. Scaramouche/Wanderer has one of the saddest stories ever. Another really deep character is Xiao. Both of these Anemo characters posses rage, helplessness, loneliness, and exquisite agony. They are two of the characters that I've related to the most. I've experienced betrayals and loneliness, coming from my broken childhood. I could understand in some respect the depth of these two characters. Despite the tragedies, the two of them took very different routes. Though I am happy to see Scaramouche finally reaching the turning point of his story.

I'm fascinated that Wanderer/Scaramouche seems to have the most complex musical theme out of the whole cast. Characters like Ei and Zhongli have a single distinctive melody that is associated with their leitmotif, but Wanderer seems to have three: "Ominous Fandango," the "Divine Will"/"Three Betrayals" melody used in this teaser, and the melody after the beat drop from his boss fight and demo.

If you want to learn more about Scaramouch's lore and hear another song dedicated to him, watch his Story Teaser (not character teaser). I believe it's called "The Divine Will." It has his entire life story summarized and the voice acting and music is amazing.

I believe why people resonate and emphasize with Scaramoush is his _Pain_. A lot of us have some sort of _pain, trauma, regret etc._ by which we wished for our selfs to neve be born and turn back time. The wish to be heard out, the wish to be seen as an existant being in this cruel world and see for who I'm truly am, is really hard to accomplish. The challenging part to this is finding the right people who will be willing in hearing you and and accepting for who you are.

possibly the most emotionally agonizing track so far in the franchise, the string section really sells the pain in his story, without even looking at the trailer, you can see each part of his life that contributed to his character. you can clearly hear a time when life seemed hopeful to him, something to look forward to, the sudden death of his friend drilled into you by the violins mimicking the dancing fire, then the soft dissonance, the chord change, showing his breaking point, where that very moment changed him into something dark, but the overwhelming sadness swells up in that last movement no matter how angry he gets and finally, the low strings with the arrival of his new self. telling stories through music is the coolest shit ever

a small detail, he was actually the one who set the house on fire after the child died, my theory is he did this in order to see whether a heart will form from the ashes or not. otherwise, this is a great video, i saw the trailer about 10 times and i never noticed the heartbeat sound! i love the passion you have for the music and especially for scaramouche himself, i feel like he is a greatly misunderstood character in both the game and the community.

I really appreciate hearing your interpretation of teaser/trailer music. Boss themes are so front and centre but so often with narrated shorts like this I overlook the music within. Watching you analyze just the music first really gives me a deeper appreciation for the whole teaser.

Once again, right on target, Marco! I'm just gonna post a similar comment from another video because I don't wanna type it up again, lol:
This teaser story was very poetic the more I watch it: The idea of one's heart being found from the embers of disaster loops around a couple times just in the span of this short trailer.
The child tells Scara the story of the Steadfast Tin Soldier (albeit slightly altered to fit the narrative here). It seems that the soldier always had a heart and it was only revealed to be so in the ashes of misfortune. Then later on when Scara utters "what a joke... it's just ashes... nothing left but ashes" is the confirmation of the world's ultimate joke in his eyes and he was always the punchline. No hearts are truly born from ashes. It was all a lie. Not even the child left anything behind from the fire.
Then, at the end we have Wanderer going back through his memories (I presume) and finally finding the "heart" that always eluded him; turns out it was him all along in the center of that fire.
Not all of us have the courage to go back to our past selves and show understanding, compassion and reconciliation but it is surely an effective method to help heal trauma. I can't wait to see how Hoyoverse tells his story in the next update.
I want to say a big thank you for the subtitles Marco. I am not an English speaker, but I know him quite well, which allows me to +- translate English videos. But I'm bad at hearing, and subtitles really help out because I love watching your videos

aaah idk if you picked up on it, but so much of scaramouche's backstory is related to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. it's a very random association, but the song fits PERFECTLY to his backstory and character. it's so cool.
I think it’s interesting that Ei decided to cut his strings and give him freedom by basically abandoning him, when she enforced so much control over her human subjects. I think she knew she had unintentionally created a new life, I think she couldn’t bare any more death so she didn’t destroy him, but also wasn’t in a position to want to get close to anyone again, so she let him go. She may have thought it was kindness, but Scaramouche obviously did not see it that way.
You mentioned that at the beginning the piano notes were from Inazuma and at some point is was a different rendering of a part of his boss fight.
I didn't even notice these things. Musicians are amazing.

In 3.1 we see a cutscene that portrays the three betrayals Scaramouche faced that set him down this path that he is on. It's heavily implied in that cutscene that he set that fire himself, and with this teaser, we learn the other half to that premise. He had remembered that child's story, and out of desperation and grief, and maybe a glimmer of hope to find some relief amidst this suffering, that he could find a heart in the ashes.
Of course, it doesn't happen. And that is the point of grim acceptance of the reality he had hoped would not be true. The, "What a joke. It's just ashes. Nothing left but ashes."
There is no heart for him to find. Not even ashes in the shape of a heart. There is no hope for him to ever be accepted as a part of this world or its people.

idk how in other language it goes but in JP Gnosis name translates into God's Heart, that adds more question to Scaramouche himself as what exactly is this heart he was wishing for.
Yes, also in Chinese. Japanese and Chinese basically share some of the same characters, not all. But most likely there it little to no difference in words with Japanese but Chinese.
But the most notable change for me is when Childe introduced himself as "prince/young lord/some kind of kid with high social status" mostly that word is used for prince as a compliment tho (thays why Paimon was a bit upset at him) Maybe also used more often in other situations, but I've never been in those situations.

Since the first time I saw Scaramouche I love him. I didn’t even play a year but I just love him like ppl who wait since to years for him. I know the feeling that Scaramouche feels so I really want to pull for him bc he is the first character i really feel related to. And all the Voice actors make a good job. That makes me much more a Wanderer fan❤

Scaramouche has definetly becomed one of my favorite characters in the entire game as time has passed. I am lucky enough to have been playing since 1.1, so i have had all of the interactions with and about him that have been in game, and each time has just solidified him higher and higher on my mind. I would say if you're interested in more characters that had a similar connection to frailty, Xiao's character teaser "The Guardian Adepti" shows a different and deeper side to him that his characteer trailer "Doombane" gave him!
I didn't even notice that the strings played his (battle) theme, I was too warped up in the Inazuma theme with a slow piano, thanks for pointing that out.
Can't wait for his story to unfold. I really hope for a redemption arc, not just for him, but for his mother, too. What can I say, I'm a real sap.
And last but not least, absolute kudos to the Hoyoverse team that is making those trailers. Being able to sneak in yet another reference to Bohemian Rhapsody while not taking away from the deep anguish portrayed in the scene, _chef's kiss_.

Marco, you show how you havnt actually been through the game's story. His Mother - Raiden Ei's second story quest literally has a heart tugging sad as heck moment talking to the ghost of her dead sister. And in Sumeru after defeating Scaramouche - Nahida is more or less forced to remove her own mother from all existance to save the whole world. Game barely has any happy moments around when story is involved. Either way your ability to read a video's emotions from the music alone - without watching it is still amazing and i love it.
PS: Make your typical reaction to Nahida & Rukkhadevata's scene, I am sure you wont be dissapointed ( but you might be a bit sad)
