Samsara Camera in Truck catches driver high on drugs

This is so sad. I hired this driver 1.5 weeks ago and i should of listened to the red flags. I literally told my team this guy is getting high. We follow all DOT rules and regulations when hiring a driver. He took a pre employment drug test and passed. After watching him closely my dispatcher saw the driver pulled over and did not answer his phone. He hopped on the samsara cameras and observed the guy dosing off on drugs. He was 9 hours into his shift. No reason to be going to sleep. As a owner operator with a fleet of tractors, its very important you catch the red flags and you probe into them. Great job by my dispatcher for getting this drug addict off the road. I got a lot of slack from a few people who dont understand what it takes to run a fleet of 22 tractors. Saying i was a shitty employer because i had the samsara cameras inside my truck. This is the reason why we have them. This one time is worth getting a bunch of you shithead nonentrepreneurs angry about having a camera in my trucks. Most of you will be working for someone into your 60's. I do understand why you would feel that way. I pray that you put yourself in my shoes with 35 plus drivers. There's only a few good men out there and when you run those type of numbers, you need cameras for many reasons i wouldn't expect you to know. All you fleet owners, i suggest you put some type of camera in you tractors. I need a reality show :-) Driver was fired right away.

Guess you coulda just fired him and avoided a potential lawsuit. Huge invasion of privacy. Now it's recorded and on RUclips. Good thing his brain is fried, he coulda made a quick buck.

Morally it's a massive Invasion of privacy feeling constantly watched but legally you're agreeing to have them in your cab when you sign up to work for the company unfortunately🙃 I have one in mine and its way too sensitive, constantly going off thinking ill be in a an accident at roundabouts etc, ridiculous idea having AI telling you how to drive all day
