That customer should be very happy you dug in and diagnosed the issue. I have one dealer near me that can’t be trusted on an oil change
I’ve said this before on other videos but I really have to say again - I drive Honda and Subaru but this guy is just such a delight to watch that I absorb as much as I can. He really knows his stuff
This is awesome stuff man... I just started a few months ago at my local Ford/Lincoln dealership and these videos are perfect man! You do a great job of explaining these issues in a way that I can understand them, even as a new tech. I have been watching a lot of your shorts on my breaks or class days, rock on man!!
Love the pickle rick tat bro, keep killin it,you ever have to move to PA and need a job your not only hired but in charge😂
The body should come off all of the cars to work on. DREAMING
You make me laugh besides teaching. Awesome. ❤
Ahhh. I see the skined knuckle. You are officially a bad az tech . Keep up the GREAT work.
Such a knowledgeable guy man always love your videos man
What was the purpose of spraying oil everywhere to find that? This dude makes lots of technical mistakes.
@@AlphanumericCharacters yeah but nobody's perfect. He also called the 500 slow. Wasn't the 2014 first to reach 200mph
@@RobertYayo agreed, nobody is perfect but the guy likes to throw lots of shade at Ford as he makes technically flawed videos. Then lots of commenters kiss his ass.
I hate clicking on his shorts but I don’t know they are his until I do so. Need to just start clicking out as soon as I realize it.
@@AlphanumericCharacters you're kinda right on the shade, I'm actually in school to be a body man, I've never experienced life as a tech
@@RobertYayo you probably made the right choice. The repair business has changed for the negative for the techs in the 25 years I’ve been in it. I wouldn’t become a tech if I had it to do over. A friend of mine is a tech in a body shop he loves it there.
Had a lifter fail in mine a couple days. Took out a freshly rebuilt 7,000 mile motor.
Good job👀👍❗️
If it was my car I’d say all new lifters on that side of the engine!
Does the orientation of the lash adjuster inside the head matter, or can you place them in any way? Asking for advice on a Gen 1 coyote.
repalced my 2019 GT with the FHP Aluminator 5.0L n/a 12:1
engine bc i cracked the OME block racing. No tick
I need to bring you my f150, 3 different dealerships have worked on it and can't fix it. It rattles under acceleration. Vtc and short block have been replaced.
I've been looking at one of those supercharged sleeper F-150's. Will it hold up mechanically? Is it worth the extra money to get 4wd?
Four-wheel drive is just another headache 😂
How these new hydralic lifters fail so fast.
My 90s had the hydralic lifter fail after more than 15 years on the road.
Is this a common failure with the 5.0? I have a 2011 F150 that has a similar sound when it starts on a cold morning until it warms up.
Its awesome you could diagnose and fix this one failure. Many techs would have sold all sorts of expensive things to fix that. I'll wait here in the comments for the whining about replacing half the engine to do it "right" 😂
How amd why is the biggest issue across the big 3 brands in the USA always lifters?
So how to prevent this issue
Name of the parts please
Nice
I have a 2001 GT / 18K - money pit or should I keep it
5 speed? Where are you located? I'll make you an offer.
Buy yourself a haynes manual and keep it running. Even after 10+ years of replacing wear and tear parts it'll be cheaper than buying anything new
Thank God the air filter only gets changed ever 20K - 30K That is a bugger @@jetfranks1634
Bad ass
So, that is actually a hydraulic lash adjuster, but commonly referred to as a lifter. Done plenty of them, broken valve springs, and failed rockers.
I am currently chasing a misfire on my 2012 f150 5.0l. Cylinder three. New coil plug and injector. New wiring harness. Sound similar. Very inconsistent. The cylinder is dead or it’s not. If it’s missing and you let it idle, you can hear it go in and out of the misfire. Sometimes you can drive it without it missing for a couple hours. Sometimes it’ll miss right sways. Sometimes you can go on a long drive and then it will just randomly come out of it and check engine light disappears. It sounds similar to this. You can definitely hear with a stethoscope that it’s mechanical. But it only knocks like that when it’s missing. The cylinder is dead on the power balance when it knocks but is good when it doesn’t. Compression is good. Pulled the valve cover and no obvious broken springs.
Any ideas? Could still be a broken spring. It’s very inconsistent. I’m at a loss. It’s only that cylinder. And when it doesn’t miss, it runs perfect
I will say, I’m surprised this guy decided to tear down an engine over a ticking lifter. I can’t have the full story

lash adjusters is I believe the term. It is shameful that OEM parts on Ford products are so unreliable, it is a total consumer rip off.
F150 walk this 😂😂
just remember folks, if ford made them any cheaper, youd have to finish assembling them yourself.im sure thats why they each get 50 free recalls.so they can be finished to ther point where they shouldve been BEFORE production was complete.
If GM and Dodge/Ram/Jeep made them any cheaper, they'd come in a box labeled "some assembly required"....and before you start, I'm not a Ford guy.
The above comments are true. This is why I'll never buy anything new; if I have to assemble anything it will be something worthwhile out of the junkyard with an abundance of parts available.
Should not be having lifter issues in 2023. They should of been perfected by now
Yes pretty pathetic
Yes, mechanical things shouldn't be breaking its 2023. Big brain right there
the gt500 in the video looks to be a 2010. it's got a few years on it
@@royalblood2405 explain to me why I have never in the 40 years of being a Tech replaced a lifter on a Toyota but replace them regularly in American cars
@@peterpeter5666 because you only do flushes and brake jobs
