Of course, as a rasika, some of us try to do such an exercise, but not at yr level. We appreciate yr sincere efforts .Yes,. I keep enjoying good music from wherever it may come from, from G RAMANATHAN, CR SUBBA RAMAN, S RAJESWARA Rao, R Sudarsan, KVM, VR / MSV, Vijaya BASKAR, IR, Vidya Sagar to AR RAHMAN to Bharani. Instead of going one by one a conceptual framework should be drawn. Otherwise it will be diffecult to grasp. While MSV is a creater,we are critique.

This is indispensable part of composition/ composer. No composer will ever compose what he dislikes. No note phrase or idea can escape his judgement. He judges every thing in his composition internally and decides it’s limits and expanse and ventures to execute it. While I am happy to provide this much insight it will be difficult to expand further here. It’s a bit deep.

WRONG and MIS-information, Ramesh sir! PLEASE CORRECT it the next time you speak about Shehnai. (part-3). DID NOT EXPECT this from u (as a fan of ur songs Enna idhu & Vizhigalin arugil vaanam). MANY songs that IR has used Shehnai for making HAPPY / Romantic / auspicious songs & BGMs. Examples: 1. Ananda Ragam song (shehnai interlude) 2. Hey Paadal ondru (interlude) 3. Madurai marikozhundu vaasam (interlude) 4. Manamagale marumagale (Devar magan song for a delicate situation) 5. Kuyile kuyile prelude (Aan paavam) 6. Some FOLK songs of his with Shehnai....He has ALSO used it for sad situations (like Mouna Ragam BGM).
I enjoyed this Lec-Dem but it'd have been better if u had not dragged IR name & given MISLEADING, FALSE DATA. Whatever pointers u describe here for the aspects of music, it ALSO APPLIES TO ILAYARAJA. You MISSED the BG score chapter in film music totally. I EXPECTED it to be comprehensive since u r not a rookie but a music director yourself. IR did NOT make calculated music. He said "Music should happen; the day I know everything I will quit; I'm still composing because I don't know music". He composed 1000's of songs within minutes and BGMs in a few days to a week. Calculating is done by music directors who take months to complete 1 movie.
The topic was MSV- The Tune smith and therefore the BGM aspect was not covered. Cant you people understand even that ? IR may have said a thousand things....he is theoretical. Except he does it very fast. Separate his music into notes and you would notice the theory behind it
Dear Sir Most respectfully it’s not false data. I am a musician and what matters to me is the art and I shall sincere to it. Between Art and Artiste one it’s better to side with art rather than personalities. That Shenoy was almost a regular feature whenever a funeral pyre or was lit ( or as sad a situation) in a movie situation is a fact. Yes indeed it is an instrument that expresses height of emotion is indeed true. But the usage became an idiom of sorts much much different from the mangala vadyam it really is in the north. Well it’s my take on it for the above facts and reasons. I hope you see the perspective and rationale behind it!
