What if Brook also from acient kingdom as a Military Fleet Commander but when Toki, Brook and one other person go to the future they are separated. While Toki arrive at Nearby Wano, Brook arrive at Toroa Kingdom then lead the group musician. How? Because he is maybe the ones who popularized Bink Sake Song. Then, some group of pirate or people moved by the song and keept singing the song. Maybe this is the reason why not all pirates sing the song or event knew the source of the music because they just didn't moved by the song and then just forget about the exsistence on the song.

Yeah he definitely seems sad when he does his usual jokes about his body. Plus I forget when but there was a moment when the strawhats were introducing themselves and Brook was about to give a kind of speech about himself before being cut off. Usually when characters try to tell people things but never get the chance it ends up being important but I guess we'll see.
I can honestly see Brooke purposefully avoiding revealing any information he may have, just because he knows luffy would hate spoilers and rather just experience the adventure himself.
Its funny how little I've thought about Brook's fruit in this context. I always kind of assumed it was an a case of Brook ate it and the crew discovered afterwards what it did when there weren't any obvious powers/transformations being shown. However, now that it's been pointed out that he used to be a ranked officer in a west-blue kingdom, a new theory that springs to mind is that he ate it to prevent someone else from eating it. Like an corrupt ruler who planned to eat it so that even after death they could continue to reign, or another villain who needed it as a back-up plan. I dunno, I get the impression that Brook is that kind of person who would see an opportunity and take it without pausing to think of the long-term consequences. Worked out for him in the end at least :)

I’ve been waiting a long time for Brook to be explained. People forget he held his own quite well against Big Mom and others by himself. When will he get Haki ? How far do his powers go ? Is he immortal ? No idea lol but I want answers. And of course what does he know, he and Robin are typically on some low key serious stuff lol Jinbei too.
I feel like Brook has low level observation haki because he can tell when an enemy is coming and I also feel like he has his own form of observation Haki that allows him to mess with the vision of others like when he walks past them and cut them way before they even realized. Maybe he casts some kind of illusion of himself or something idk but it’s cool to think about.
What if he actually can't see or hear, and uses his own interpretation of Observation Haki to "see" and "hear". Of course he can eat, fart, burp, cry and talk, so I could just be talking out my ass.
And I was just wondering why everyone is interested in e.g. Zoro's past, and no one will mention anything about Brook, who in my opinion is the most interesting member of the crew at the moment

Well Zoro is related to Wano but Oda keeps making it ambiguous, probably Ryuma. Brook is older than any of the older generation and he was a soldier in the West Blue before becoming a pirate. We need that Brook backstory.

I think Brook has an indirect connection to Laffitte. Laffitte also came from the west blue and was in law enforcement but was removed for being blood thirsty and violent. He's also tall, thin, has a top hat and cane like Brook and while Brook plays music, Laffitte is a dancer. They might not be blood related but they might come from the same island, which would give Brook a reason to fight him if he needs to.

I could have sworn Brooke addressed his history of eating his devil fruit, and not knowing what the effect was, and thought it was a dud, it was only when everyone else on his crew died and he became undead that the fruits powers activated
He knew and his crew knew what it did before he died because brooke mentions its powers and so does one of his crew mates in the rumbar pirates. I dont remember which episode or chapter but its in his flash back after thriller bark i think, I could be remembering it wrong though.
Brook could be up for a mini focused arc on him tbh. Sanji, Zoro got their's , Usopp will likely get Elbaf. Franky will play a major role when we meet Vegapunk and discover the ancient weapons. Robin is no brainer always important and will decipher all of the lost ancient history. Brook could drop bombshells any time. I'm guessing when we encounter Blackbeard or the strawhats become aware of Rocks Pirates revivalism

I think it would be cool if Brook is from Sorbet Kingdom. It would connect him with Bonney and Kuma would give us another reason to have a Sorbet Kingdom Arc/Mini Arc and we could expand on some juicy lore.

Blackbeard pirate Laffitte is from west blue. He is a tap dancer, brook is a musician. The cowboy type people in rumbar pirates look same as him and his former job was sheriff. I think brook and Laffitte have some connection.

Ever since I’ve heard of Rocks, I’ve been thinking whether or not his crew was the one that killed off the Rumbar Pirates. It always felt like a mystery to me, and I’m pretty sure(?) it’s possible.
It would be strange for Brook to have been killed by the Rocks Pirates and not have commented on that fact when he's now faced off against two distinct members of the Rocks crew, and had several noteworthy interactions with Big Mom and didn't once mention that fact.
Im pretty sure both crews died. The rumbar pirates only died because of poison after they defeated whoever attacked them... so no, they were not the Rocks
I have a theory that there are multiple Revive-Revive fruit users. Every time a user of this Devil fruit dies, the essence of the Devil Fruit goes to another fruit. The previous user will revive as a remnant of the fruit's powers

I feel like I'm the only one who really likes Brooke sometimes. He has the freshest outfits and I love his slow walk past and slash move. So cool. When he wore that Luffy mask at the tea party I was dying.

There was a tidbit of information in the game Unlimited World RED that I really enjoyed because of how it used Brook. The main antagonist was a washed up pirate from the old era. Brook, being far older than the rest of the crew, was the only person who not only knew who the antagonist was, but knew how strong his bond was with another character because of that. I think Oda making brook so old was definitely a calculated decision, because it opens up a wealth of potential for him with regards to characters and events of the past.
The one theory I'll have with Brook is that Crocus only said the Rumbar pirates quit their journey and left the Grand Line was due to one of the infected crewmembers sent someone from the town they were staying a message to give to Crocus, telling him that the crew was leaving the Grand Line. Thus, why Crocus can say he got the info of their quiting from a reliable source, but unsure whether they'd made it through the Calm Belt.
You should also keep in mind, Brook and the rest of his ship died before ever reaching the New World, so the chances of any important information he might have about where they are is almost none. Now if he had been given another arc before they got split up, maybe he might’ve been able to talk about stuff he used to know, but I doubt he’d have anything of relevance now.
They did go to the new world, when they started getting sick they all went searching for a cure, and while brook was alone he had to have floated back into the grand line somehow
@@Rocketshoes Where did you get that from? The furthest they made it was the Florian Triangle, just before the New World. Just casually "drifting" from the New World to Paradise is literally impossible - there are only 4 known ways to pass between those two halves of the world with a ship. Going down to Fishman Island, going through Marijoa, Reverse Mountain, and the Germa Snails. A ship can't just drift through any of those on accident.
I think Brooks fruit works like that : if he has a reason to live his spirit wont leave this world . So if he has a reason to live he is imortal. That explains why previous users may have died although having this fruit ... And this fruit powers are the most interesting in my opinion along with robins ,laws and kaidos ... They seem to have limitless potential. (maybe kaido not that much but anyway) The only drawback seems to be how the user use the fruit ... Example Doffy had a very simple fruit but he is a fucking genius , the way he used his fruit is at least amazing ... (Manipulating others, attached to cloud to move faster , temporally holding his organ if damaged until he heals ... Thats an outstanding way of using a simple fruit . Imagine someone like that using Brooks, robins or laws fruit ...
brook has to be my favorite straw hat along with Sanji, the dude just does not give a shit, everywhere he goes, everything he does is justcasual strolling along. Even when facing the pinnacle of the world he is just spitting roasts and acting like they are these negligible rookies. Even on Onigashima, while essentially everyone was going all out he was just doing his thing, I would love to see him actually do something though, appart from Thriller Bark way back he never had a "real" fight (CP0 maybe?).

Brook's story and Thriller Bark were partly inspired by the poem "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Coleridge. I was blown away by the similarities when I read it. There may be clues about Brooke's past or future in the poem.
I remember that moment in Brooks introduction. It was the first time I made the conscious decision to remember a small detail, because it will probably become important later. I should have anticipated that we wouldn't get an answer for a long long time, but that's also why I love One Piece.
I think I remember watching an Ohara video recently, where he theorizes that Bink's sake is being delivered to the ancient kingdom. Thus Brook holding some more key information from his past is definitely a possibility. Brook could have died not long before he met the Strawhats. Instead he died before the eldest members of the strawhat pirates even born. Cos even the second eldest, Jinbe, born 6 years after Brook died. The whole story of their crew is mysterious. First, they split when some half of the crew, including the captain contracted a deadly disease, and decided to split before the disease spreads, they contracted it while exploring some island? Then they disappeared in the calm belt and presumed dead. Then, not long after the other part of the crew got attacked, they defeated their attackers, but all of them received wounds from poisoned weapons, and their doctor died, so nobody can cure them. Somebody wanted the remaining Rumbar pirates to die, and they made sure it happens, but they did not account for Brook's fruit. This backstory would be a huge waste if not explored further. My assumption is, the Rumbar pirates did not contract a disease on their exploration. They instead discovered something they should have not. The captain thought he can spare those who where not present by splitting the crew, but they got hunted down anyways. Brook may or may not know what his captain discovered and why they left the crew like that.
Brook is a very special chess piece that Oda's holding on to. I mentioned it in Vinland's video that I think Eustass Kid is going to get fleshed out post-Wano since his beef is with Shanks. I think Brook will get a big info dump post-Luffy being Pirate King and around a potential death of Luffy. I think this will be the prime time for it because, considering Brook's DF, I wouldn't be surprised if he's been the one narrating the SH's journey. Almost like FFX-style "let me tell you a story" approach.

Brook only found his body when its already decayed. So, he had no choice but to put his soul on his skeleton. I'm fairly certain that the first user died a second time since they probably found their body before it decomposed. Basically the first user found their body fresh, entered the body, then died again.
When Brook FIRST was Introduced, all those years ago, I knew that there was so much hidden about him, especially his DF. Now we see that his DF isn't exactly what it seems to be, which is in line with my original theory, but it goes even further because he most likely also has a special Hito hito no Mi. I always was against the idea his DF was just a "Revival DF." I also theorized that Brook's abilities were brought out by "Music" and that his Ability is that "Of the Soul" so "Soul Music" was able to increase his powers. Now, after Wano, My theories are starting to become reality. Not only is Brook's DF a lie, so was Luffy's (which I didn't think to question, and I haven't been all that into OP to make tons of new theories). Not only does Brook's Hito-Hito no Mi's DF "power up" with Music, so does Luffy's. Luffy's Musical Instrument is the Drums, while Brook's seems to be the Guitar. Chopper and Robin will also gain their own "Rhythm" as well. Luffy always wanted a "Musician" because "The Music" allows one to "Enjoy the Party more." This is key because Music is deeply connected to One Piece, and Luffy's love for Music is deeper than just a love, and it's possible his DF actually influenced his enjoyment of Music. Speaking of Influence, one thing we haven't actually heard discussed is that these DFs could actually influence a person's mind, body, and soul. I think that we will need to take a deeper look at Water 7, because that is where CP9 first Ate their DFs, where we actually have a BEFORE AND AFTER of what happens when you eat a DF. These thoughts come when discussing how "Nika" has "a mind of it's own" and was able to "avoid the World Government all these years." It also makes you wonder if Blackbeard just got much more evil when he ate the Darkness Fruit. Ace's "Fiery Attitude" when confronting the Marines at Alabasta, the big fight with Blackbeard, and Akainu at Marineford. The biggest one to note is Magellan, who is physically affected by his DF. Now that I think about it, ODA snuck this in to make it seem like a joke, bu tI believe it's a reference to the fact that Devil Fruits WILL affect a user, after being eaten.

All this unknown and often not talked about stuff about Brook also reminds me of how ni one seems to ever remember or even care that Franky literally met Roger’s entire crew, INCLUDING ODEN, like you think he’d maybe mention that to Kinemon or Momonosuke or literally anyone in Wano
@@frankspick7544 he’s also never mentioned the fact he’s met Oden, or Roger’s crew. Yes this could probably just be an “Oda didn’t think of it until later” moment but it’s also fairly explainable, he was hit by the sea train AFTER meeting the crew, he didn’t like pirates at the time so he most likely would have dismissed the memory of meeting them and then he gets hit by a train. Partial memory loss is fairly common in incidents where there is severe head trauma, Franky probably doesn’t remember parts of his past as well as we think he does leaving for future explanations for his characters backstory to fit the story as it needs.
I hope we learn where Brook got that nasty scar of his from Maybe he expected to revive after that attack yet somehow didn't die from his skull getting thoroughly cracked
I think all the straw hats have a potentially hidden second backstory mostly related to how they came up. The 2 most interesting for me are Usopp and Franky. I'm curious how usopps father could abandon him and why Usopp has no last name. Franky was introduced as a tech genius, why would his parents get rid of him when he can create weapons out of nothing? If his parents were pirates that would be a great skill to have.
The same could be said for Luffy too. Dragon, Yasopp and Franky's parents are all outlaws. They left their kids behind to protect them. You saw what happened to Ace. The World Government hunted him down just because he was Gol D Roger's son.

Question for the Grand Fleet Admiral and any keen fleet member in the comments; Why do you think the anime doesnt animate the cover story's? The anime certainly does like its occasional filler ark and moreover it does accept the existence of those cover story's with such as milk girl appearing in the revolutionary army scene. There are some truly great cover story's and even though they might now be out of sync with the main story (especially Ace) i think they would be great to see animated. Why do people think they havent been animated yet?
From what I've read non strawhat episodes have low rating, that's why they veered away from them. Personally I'd love them, they're a fun insight into the OP world.

In the German version the topic is also about Silvers Rayleigh (the Rookie). Brook says: "Hm...gut möglich, dass Gol. D. Roger früher einen Rookie diesen Namens hatte..." Translation: "Hm...Gol. D. Roger very well may have had a rookie with such a name." Taking a closer look at the context of the conversation, all the straw hats are talking about the name of Silvers Rayleigh. Here's the conversation in the German version: Ruffy: WIIIIIE?! DU WARST AUF DEM SCHIFF DES PIRATENKÖNIGS??! Rayleigh: "Ja...Ich war Vize Kapitän. Mein Name ist Silvers Rayleigh. I would love it if Oda expanded more into Brook's backstory at some point. Perhaps if we do get an Underworld Arc like some are suggesting, then it might be an opportune place for us to learn more about him.
I really enjoyed this video and agree with most of what's being said but one thing stood out to me which was the thing about Brook eating his Devil Fruit. Using Kaku as an example, He didn't know what his Devil Fruit was and neither did the rest of CP9 and right before he eats his devil fruit he mentions that no one knows the name of the fruit or the powers until someone has eaten the fruit for the first time. (This was all back in episode 271 if anyone wants to check themselves) But maybe Brook was the first person to ever eat Revive-Revive Fruit and he ate the fruit thinking he would get some crazy power like every other fruit and as for the reason he could've eaten the fruit was that he was important for battle in the unknown kingdom.

No, that's not the case. After someone eats a DF, they will see what their powers are and look to see which DF they ate. In Brook's case, I'm sure he ate the DF knowing what it does, which brings up the question on why he would do that in the first place?

So this scene may have played out different in manga, but in the anime near the end of zou when they had raizou back and was dicussing plans/about oden and roger. It seems like brook wanted to say something but got interrupted multiple times by nami, until he then gave up. It really annoyed me at the time because it seemed so forced. Like why include brook wanting to say something to have nami take over. He needs more character development
Theory, Brook said when he died he couldn’t find he’s body and was roaming for years, who thinks at some point his ghost landed on Rogers ship and explored with them
GLR, I remember in Enies Lobby when Spandam was giving Kaku and Kalifa their fruits, he said the one who eats the fruit will know the name once they consume it. I believe it was simply that once Brook ate the fruit, he knew its name and power and just told the crew. However, theories could still be made as to WHY Brook ate a fruit, and maybe it was known beforehand.
This is confirmed false in an sbs.Oda said that it was implied that the user will learn the name of the fruit after he sees what his powers are not that he magically knows the name
What I do like to think about, is Brook actually having told everything to Robin, the one Strawhat actually interested in history and wanting to know more. Too bad Robin is also the one Strawhat who doesnt really talk about her knowledge.
Best video i have seen in a while, have always said that a brook arc is soon coming, he and Sanji share many similarities in how they joined the crew, both of their roles were the ones luffy cared about the most and both of their history was barely revealed in their introduction, after whole cake I knew brook would get an arc for himself just like sanji

New member of the grand fleet here! I’ve always been a big fan of Brook, and honestly I always felt something was missing from his story despite his story with the Rumbar Pirates, and this is absolutely it! I would really love to see a somewhat Brook centric conflict later down the line. I could see them maybe stumbling upon Toroa and maybe have a Zou sized story take place there. Seeing Brook bury the hatchet over a responsibility he once had as a Toroa swordsman would be very interesting to see.
Wait did Brook know what his fruit was when he ate it? I thought all his pirate crew were prepared to die and him along with them only to then be brought back to life which was when he figured it out.

Yes, Brook has more lore in his head about the history of the world that we the readers want to get at. Oda, however is taking his sweet time getting there. Nice shoutout to DotW. I love her work as well and the Toroa cricket catch by her is now safely incorporated into my head canon.
maybe, just maybe. The main reason for Brook left the Royal Army is caused by the Yomi-yomi DF, if the theory says Rumbar Pirate is assembled by the two kingdom/countries representative. The Rumbar Pirate could be some sort of Deserted soldiers while on a mission either Protecting the Yomi-yomi DF and the other one is to retrieve the DF as both of the countries were in conflict. It's really fun to have many people making theories and ideas based on one man (GODA) fantasy.

My personal theory is that he knew the power of the fruit because that information may have been passed down within the kingdom he was from alongside the fruit. so long as the former fruit user died within their kingdom and they grew whatever the preferred fruit for it to inhabit nearby, even without an in-depth understanding of how it worked, the fruit would likely stay within the kingdom to be recollected and passed down. Not that hard to think that a kingdom may make this some sort of cultural ritual/ festival when this happened after each user died a second time and write music about their kings being able to rise back from the dead due to it, only to be attacked and destroyed later for that same reason. It is, at the very least, something I could see happening.
Would not eat Brooks Devil Fruit. I only have a few years left at most and don't regret any of it or anything up till now. I guess I would only want to eat it to see my baby girl get married and have a family and see the end of One Piece. Sucks knowing I'll be dead and gone B4 my favorite story is over or see my angel grown to be a beautiful woman. Still not sad about my time left though. Happy I have gotten to have this story in my life at the same time as having my family and learning who I am.
I think you underestimate the draw of immortality and a second life. There's a reason it's a very common goal. Gra Ted its very common for villains which Brook decidedly is not, unless something weird happens idk, but I can still see a regular person being drawn to the prospect of a second life

If we think about it, we don't know from were he is form, there are not much opportunity to learn from his past because it's unlikely he meet someone he knows or a place he visit before, as Brook get stuck in his first travel to the grand line besides we don't know we he go to the grand line in the first place. There was no one piece or Pirate King in that time, for the other side it should be a calmer time in it was before all the power struggles. PD: besides meet someone of the past or ear a familiar name or history could be the trigger for the us more of Brook history. If not gonna be just near the end of being just to get out of the grand line.
See, my assumption always was that eating a fruit grants you some manner of sixth sense regarding the fruit's powers. That's probably what Blueno was refering to about learning the name of the devil fruit when eating it. Like, think about it. Kinnemon ate his fruit without even knowing it was a devil fruit. And yet he somehow relized he can turn objects put on a target's head into a set of clothing. Why the hell would he try something like that without pre knowledge?
I hope that we get a relevant Brook backstory, but I don't think I want it to be world shattering. A simple story to explain something about the time just before Roger's era which doubles as an explanation for why Brook is the way he is would be cool. An angle I'd like is showing Brook to be something of a defector, someone with fairweather loyalty in his younger days as evidenced by his casual abandonment of his duty to join the Rumbar pirates. I think showing him to be a carefree man who did what was convenient for himself tracks with his personality. Then show that Laboon changed him, and made him into someone who couldn't abandon his crew on a whim even as they met their end. When the Straw Hats show up, he casually agrees to join their crew knowing basically nothing about them, he certainly had no chance to understand or develop faith in Luffy's goal to be the pirate king. Probably just wants off the misty sea. He's still somewhat his old self here. But then he retracts his agreement because he has to retrieve his shadow, Thriller Bark happens, and he learns that Laboon is still alive. With respect for Luffy established, and knowing Laboon is waiting and that the Straw Hats value Laboon as a friend too, he agrees again to be a Straw Hat, but it is a bond he will never abandon. Even Franky, a cunning and observant character with a good read on people's character, suspected that Brook might not return to the crew given his superstardom after the timeskip, but was happy to be proven wrong. Brook has been proving his unfaltering loyalty and commitment to Luffy's dream ever since.
The calculations dont really add up though. Roger was 53 when he died. Brook 38 when he 1st died and he was 50 years alone. That would mean roger was a rookie when he was 3 years old? No way he met Roger. Maybe his father or something.
I mean Franky was within 30 yards of Gol D. Rogger, and even talked to Oden without realizing. I wouldn't be surprised if brook has just forgotten/ pushed those thoughts to the side of unimportance.(AKA Plot building) I just expect allot to come out nearing the end of our adventure and hit us will allot at once, kinda like AOT season 3
I believe Toroa And another Island could exist as brook stats long ago he served mean 60+ years ago, His kingdom could have fallen leading to him becoming a pirate while others of the kingdom seeked refugee in Toroa and over the years turned it into their out keeping the same cloths custom as well and the pride and expertise in music. I got the idea when you mentioned how Luffy has prattled on and on about having a musician since the east blue, I connected it with your video on what Luffy's and Roger's dreams might be, and how the dream needs to be simple enough for a small child to think of, AND something that would dumbfound Whitebeard and just make Oden laugh. And to those of you who'll say "Oh but Shanks didn't give him the hat until After he said he would be king of the pirates." Exactly! Shanks didn't give Luffy the hat until AFTER he said he would be king of the PIRATES! Which is a whole other promise to fulfill, AND it would be clear to ANYONE after Roger's succession to the pirate king that the only way to be the party king would be to go anywhere and everywhere in the world and have a party there. But making that second promise to Shanks would mean he would do it at a pirate. THE EXACT SAME THING THAT ROGER DID, HE WENT TO EVERY ISLAND IN THE WORLD AS I PIRATE AND PARTIED IN AS MANY AS HE PHYSICALLY COULD. The reason he wanted a musician since day 1 is because what kind of party doesn't have music? This lines up perfectly with Luffy's personality. Maybe Roger also just loves parties and only way to be called the party king is if someone went to every island and partied there, and the best way to do that is to be a pirate because they go from place to place, party at any bars they come to, don't or rarely have to pay for food and drink, and you can just rob other pirate ships for gold. my support of why Roger would say Party King specifically uses more psychology and speculation, I so would love any feedback.

What if Brook also from acient kingdom as a Military Fleet Commander but when Toki, Brook and one other person go to the future they are separated. While Toki arrive at Nearby Wano, Brook arrive at Toroa Kingdom then lead the group musician. How? Because he is maybe the ones who popularized Bink Sake Song. Then, some group of pirate or people moved by the song and keept singing the song. Maybe this is the reason why not all pirates sing the song or event knew the source of the music because they just didn't moved by the song and then just forget about the exsistence on the song.

Yeah he definitely seems sad when he does his usual jokes about his body. Plus I forget when but there was a moment when the strawhats were introducing themselves and Brook was about to give a kind of speech about himself before being cut off. I can honestly see Brooke purposefully avoiding revealing any information he may have, just because he knows luffy would hate spoilers and rather just experience the adventure himself.
Its funny how little I've thought about Brook's fruit in this context. I always kind of assumed it was an a case of Brook ate it and the crew discovered afterwards what it did when there weren't any obvious powers/transformations being shown.
However, now that it's been pointed out that he used to be a ranked officer in a west-blue kingdom, a new theory that springs to mind is that he ate it to prevent someone else from eating it. Like an corrupt ruler who planned to eat it so that even after death they could continue to reign, or another villain who needed it as a back-up plan. I dunno, I get the impression that Brook is that kind of person who would see an opportunity and take it without pausing to think of the long-term consequences.

I feel like Brook has low level observation haki because he can tell when an enemy is coming and I also feel like he has his own form of observation Haki that allows him to mess with the vision of others like when he walks past them and cut them way before they even realized. Well Zoro is related to Wano but Oda keeps making it ambiguous, probably Ryuma. Brook is older than any of the older generation and he was a soldier in the West Blue before becoming a pirate. We need that Brook backstory.

I think Brook has an indirect connection to Laffitte. Laffitte also came from the west blue and was in law enforcement but was removed for being blood thirsty and violent. He's also tall, thin, has a top hat and cane like Brook and while Brook plays music, Laffitte is a dancer. They might not be blood related but they might come from the same island, which would give Brook a reason to fight him if he needs to.

Ever since I’ve heard of Rocks, I’ve been thinking whether or not his crew was the one that killed off the Rumbar Pirates. It always felt like a mystery to me, and I’m pretty sure(?) it’s possible.
It would be strange for Brook to have been killed by the Rocks Pirates and not have commented on that fact when he's now faced off against two distinct members of the Rocks crew, and had several noteworthy interactions with Big Mom and didn't once mention that fact.
Im pretty sure both crews died. The rumbar pirates only died because of poison after they defeated whoever attacked them... so no, they were not the Rocks

I have a theory that there are multiple Revive-Revive fruit users. Every time a user of this Devil fruit dies, the essence of the Devil Fruit goes to another fruit. The previous user will revive as a remnant of the fruit's powers

There was a tidbit of information in the game Unlimited World RED that I really enjoyed because of how it used Brook.
The main antagonist was a washed up pirate from the old era. Brook, being far older than the rest of the crew, was the only person who not only knew who the antagonist was, but knew how strong his bond was with another character because of that.
I think Oda making brook so old was definitely a calculated decision, because it opens up a wealth of potential for him with regards to characters and events of the past.
The one theory I'll have with Brook is that Crocus only said the Rumbar pirates quit their journey and left the Grand Line was due to one of the infected crewmembers sent someone from the town they were staying a message to give to Crocus, telling him that the crew was leaving the Grand Line. Thus, why Crocus can say he got the info of their quiting from a reliable source, but unsure whether they'd made it through the Calm Belt.
You should also keep in mind, Brook and the rest of his ship died before ever reaching the New World, so the chances of any important information he might have about where they are is almost none. Now if he had been given another arc before they got split up, maybe he might’ve been able to talk about stuff he used to know, but I doubt he’d have anything of relevance now.
They did go to the new world, when they started getting sick they all went searching for a cure, and while brook was alone he had to have floated back into the grand line somehow

Just casually "drifting" from the New World to Paradise is literally impossible - there are only 4 known ways to pass between those two halves of the world with a ship. Going down to Fishman Island, going through Marijoa, Reverse Mountain, and the Germa Snails. A ship can't just drift through any of those on accident.

I think Brooks fruit works like that : if he has a reason to live his spirit wont leave this world . So if he has a reason to live he is imortal. That explains why previous users may have died although having this fruit ... And this fruit powers are the most interesting in my opinion along with robins ,laws and kaidos ... They seem to have limitless potential. (maybe kaido not that much but anyway) The only drawback seems to be how the user use the fruit ... Example Doffy had a very simple fruit but he is a fucking genius , the way he used his fruit is at least amazing ... (Manipulating others, attached to cloud to move faster , temporally holding his organ if damaged until he heals ... Thats an outstanding way of using a simple fruit . Imagine someone like that using Brooks, robins or laws fruit ...
brook has to be my favorite straw hat along with Sanji, the dude just does not give a shit, everywhere he goes, everything he does is justcasual strolling along. Even when facing the pinnacle of the world he is just spitting roasts and acting like they are these negligible rookies. Even on Onigashima, while essentially everyone was going all out he was just doing his thing, I would love to see him actually do something though, appart from Thriller Bark way back he never had a "real" fight (CP0 maybe?).

Brook's story and Thriller Bark were partly inspired by the poem "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Coleridge. I was blown away by the similarities when I read it. There may be clues about Brooke's past or future in the poem.

I think I remember watching an Ohara video recently, where he theorizes that Bink's sake is being delivered to the ancient kingdom. Thus Brook holding some more key information from his past is definitely a possibility. Brook could have died not long before he met the Strawhats. Instead he died before the eldest members of the strawhat pirates even born. Cos even the second eldest, Jinbe, born 6 years after Brook died. The whole story of their crew is mysterious. First, they split when some half of the crew, including the captain contracted a deadly disease, and decided to split before the disease spreads, they contracted it while exploring some island? Then they disappeared in the calm belt and presumed dead. Then, not long after the other part of the crew got attacked, they defeated their attackers, but all of them received wounds from poisoned weapons, and their doctor died, so nobody can cure them. Somebody wanted the remaining Rumbar pirates to die, and they made sure it happens, but they did not account for Brook's fruit.
This backstory would be a huge waste if not explored further. My assumption is, the Rumbar pirates did not contract a disease on their exploration. They instead discovered something they should have not. The captain thought he can spare those who where not present by splitting the crew, but they got hunted down anyways. Brook may or may not know what his captain discovered and why they left the crew like that.

Brook is a very special chess piece that Oda's holding on to. I mentioned it in Vinland's video that I think Eustass Kid is going to get fleshed out post-Wano since his beef is with Shanks. I think Brook will get a big info dump post-Luffy being Pirate King and around a potential death of Luffy. I think this will be the prime time for it because, considering Brook's DF, I wouldn't be surprised if he's been the one narrating the SH's journey. Almost like FFX-style "let me tell you a story" approach.

I love how when you look at a character in One Piece in detail you start to realize so much more than what it seems like at face value. Brooke is an amazing example of this

Brook only found his body when its already decayed. So, he had no choice but to put his soul on his skeleton. I'm fairly certain that the first user died a second time since they probably found their body before it decomposed. Basically the first user found their body fresh, entered the body, then died again.
When Brook FIRST was Introduced, all those years ago, I knew that there was so much hidden about him, especially his DF. Now we see that his DF isn't exactly what it seems to be, which is in line with my original theory, but it goes even further because he most likely also has a special Hito hito no Mi. I always was against the idea his DF was just a "Revival DF."
I also theorized that Brook's abilities were brought out by "Music" and that his Ability is that "Of the Soul" so "Soul Music" was able to increase his powers.
Now, after Wano, My theories are starting to become reality. Not only is Brook's DF a lie, so was Luffy's (which I didn't think to question, and I haven't been all that into OP to make tons of new theories).
Not only does Brook's Hito-Hito no Mi's DF "power up" with Music, so does Luffy's. Luffy's Musical Instrument is the Drums, while Brook's seems to be the Guitar. Chopper and Robin will also gain their own "Rhythm" as well.
Luffy always wanted a "Musician" because "The Music" allows one to "Enjoy the Party more." This is key because Music is deeply connected to One Piece, and Luffy's love for Music is deeper than just a love, and it's possible his DF actually influenced his enjoyment of Music.
Speaking of Influence, one thing we haven't actually heard discussed is that these DFs could actually influence a person's mind, body, and soul. I think that we will need to take a deeper look at Water 7, because that is where CP9 first Ate their DFs, where we actually have a BEFORE AND AFTER of what happens when you eat a DF.
These thoughts come when discussing how "Nika" has "a mind of it's own" and was able to "avoid the World Government all these years."
It also makes you wonder if Blackbeard just got much more evil when he ate the Darkness Fruit.
Ace's "Fiery Attitude" when confronting the Marines at Alabasta, the big fight with Blackbeard, and Akainu at Marineford.
The biggest one to note is Magellan, who is physically affected by his DF. Now that I think about it, ODA snuck this in to make it seem like a joke, bu tI believe it's a reference to the fact that Devil Fruits WILL affect a user, after being eaten.

Yes this could probably just be an “Oda didn’t think of it until later” moment but it’s also fairly explainable, he was hit by the sea train AFTER meeting the crew, he didn’t like pirates at the time so he most likely would have dismissed the memory of meeting them and then he gets hit by a train. Partial memory loss is fairly common in incidents where there is severe head trauma, Franky probably doesn’t remember parts of his past as well as we think he does leaving for future explanations for his characters backstory to fit the story as it needs.

I think all the straw hats have a potentially hidden second backstory mostly related to how they came up. The 2 most interesting for me are Usopp and Franky. I'm curious how usopps father could abandon him and why Usopp has no last name. Franky was introduced as a tech genius, why would his parents get rid of him when he can create weapons out of nothing? If his parents were pirates that would be a great skill to have.
The same could be said for Luffy too. Dragon, Yasopp and Franky's parents are all outlaws. They left their kids behind to protect them. You saw what happened to Ace. The World Government hunted him down just because he was Gol D Roger's son.

Question for the Grand Fleet Admiral and any keen fleet member in the comments; Why do you think the anime doesnt animate the cover story's? The anime certainly does like its occasional filler ark and moreover it does accept the existence of those cover story's with such as milk girl appearing in the revolutionary army scene. There are some truly great cover story's and even though they might now be out of sync with the main story (especially Ace) i think they would be great to see animated. Why do people think they havent been animated yet?
From what I've read non strawhat episodes have low rating, that's why they veered away from them. Personally I'd love them, they're a fun insight into the OP world.

In my German volume Brook refers to Gol D. Roger.
In the German version the topic is also about Silvers Rayleigh (the Rookie).
Brook says:
"Hm...gut möglich, dass Gol. D. Roger früher einen Rookie diesen Namens hatte..."
Translation:
"Hm...Gol. D. Roger very well may have had a rookie with such a name."
Taking a closer look at the context of the conversation, all the straw hats are talking about the name of Silvers Rayleigh.

I would love it if Oda expanded more into Brook's backstory at some point. Perhaps if we do get an Underworld Arc like some are suggesting, then it might be an opportune place for us to learn more about him.
I really enjoyed this video and agree with most of what's being said but one thing stood out to me which was the thing about Brook eating his Devil Fruit.
Using Kaku as an example, He didn't know what his Devil Fruit was and neither did the rest of CP9 and right before he eats his devil fruit he mentions that no one knows the name of the fruit or the powers until someone has eaten the fruit for the first time. (This was all back in episode 271 if anyone wants to check themselves)
But maybe Brook was the first person to ever eat Revive-Revive Fruit and he ate the fruit thinking he would get some crazy power like every other fruit and as for the reason he could've eaten the fruit was that he was important for battle in the unknown kingdom.

No, that's not the case. After someone eats a DF, they will see what their powers are and look to see which DF they ate. In Brook's case, I'm sure he ate the DF knowing what it does, which brings up the question on why he would do that in the first place?

So this scene may have played out different in manga, but in the anime near the end of zou when they had raizou back and was dicussing plans/about oden and roger.
It seems like brook wanted to say something but got interrupted multiple times by nami, until he then gave up.
It really annoyed me at the time because it seemed so forced.
Like why include brook wanting to say something to have nami take over.

I remember in Enies Lobby when Spandam was giving Kaku and Kalifa their fruits, he said the one who eats the fruit will know the name once they consume it. I believe it was simply that once Brook ate the fruit, he knew its name and power and just told the crew. However, theories could still be made as to WHY Brook ate a fruit, and maybe it was known beforehand.
This is confirmed false in an sbs.Oda said that it was implied that the user will learn the name of the fruit after he sees what his powers are not that he magically knows the name

I’ve always been a big fan of Brook, and honestly I always felt something was missing from his story despite his story with the Rumbar Pirates, and this is absolutely it!
I would really love to see a somewhat Brook centric conflict later down the line. I could see them maybe stumbling upon Toroa and maybe have a Zou sized story take place there. Seeing Brook bury the hatchet over a responsibility he once had as a Toroa swordsman would be very interesting to see.
Wait did Brook know what his fruit was when he ate it? I thought all his pirate crew were prepared to die and him along with them only to then be brought back to life which was when he figured it out.

maybe, just maybe. The main reason for Brook left the Royal Army is caused by the Yomi-yomi DF, if the theory says Rumbar Pirate is assembled by the two kingdom/countries representative.
The Rumbar Pirate could be some sort of Deserted soldiers while on a mission either Protecting the Yomi-yomi DF and the other one is to retrieve the DF as both of the countries were in conflict. It's really fun to have many people making theories and ideas based on one man (GODA) fantasy.
I wonder if the devil fruit encyclopedia even existed at the time that brook ate his fruit? My personal theory is that he knew the power of the fruit because that information may have been passed down within the kingdom he was from alongside the fruit. so long as the former fruit user died within their kingdom and they grew whatever the preferred fruit for it to inhabit nearby, even without an in-depth understanding of how it worked, the fruit would likely stay within the kingdom to be recollected and passed down. Not that hard to think that a kingdom may make this some sort of cultural ritual/ festival when this happened after each user died a second time and write music about their kings being able to rise back from the dead due to it, only to be attacked and destroyed later for that same reason. It is, at the very least, something I could see happening.
Would not eat Brooks Devil Fruit. I only have a few years left at most and don't regret any of it or anything up till now. I guess I would only want to eat it to see my baby girl get married and have a family and see the end of One Piece. Sucks knowing I'll be dead and gone B4 my favorite story is over or see my angel grown to be a beautiful woman. Still not sad about my time left though. Happy I have gotten to have this story in my life at the same time as having my family and learning who I am.
I think you underestimate the draw of immortality and a second life. There's a reason it's a very common goal. Gra Ted its very common for villains which Brook decidedly is not, unless something weird happens idk, but I can still see a regular person being drawn to the prospect of a second life

If we think about it, we don't know from were he is form, there are not much opportunity to learn from his past because it's unlikely he meet someone he knows or a place he visit before, as Brook get stuck in his first travel to the grand line besides we don't know we he go to the grand line in the first place.
There was no one piece or Pirate King in that time, for the other side it should be a calmer time in it was before all the power struggles.
PD: besides meet someone of the past or ear a familiar name or history could be the trigger for the us more of Brook history. If not gonna be just near the end of being just to get out of the grand line.
See, my assumption always was that eating a fruit grants you some manner of sixth sense regarding the fruit's powers. That's probably what Blueno was refering to about learning the name of the devil fruit when eating it.
Like, think about it. Kinnemon ate his fruit without even knowing it was a devil fruit. And yet he somehow relized he can turn objects put on a target's head into a set of clothing. Why the hell would he try something like that without pre knowledge?
Brook's original kingdom where he learned his sowrdsmanship will be important. Been saying it for years.
I hope that we get a relevant Brook backstory, but I don't think I want it to be world shattering. A simple story to explain something about the time just before Roger's era which doubles as an explanation for why Brook is the way he is would be cool.
An angle I'd like is showing Brook to be something of a defector, someone with fairweather loyalty in his younger days as evidenced by his casual abandonment of his duty to join the Rumbar pirates. I think showing him to be a carefree man who did what was convenient for himself tracks with his personality. Then show that Laboon changed him, and made him into someone who couldn't abandon his crew on a whim even as they met their end. When the Straw Hats show up, he casually agrees to join their crew knowing basically nothing about them, he certainly had no chance to understand or develop faith in Luffy's goal to be the pirate king. Probably just wants off the misty sea. He's still somewhat his old self here. But then he retracts his agreement because he has to retrieve his shadow, Thriller Bark happens, and he learns that Laboon is still alive. With respect for Luffy established, and knowing Laboon is waiting and that the Straw Hats value Laboon as a friend too, he agrees again to be a Straw Hat, but it is a bond he will never abandon. Even Franky, a cunning and observant character with a good read on people's character, suspected that Brook might not return to the crew given his superstardom after the timeskip, but was happy to be proven wrong. Brook has been proving his unfaltering loyalty and commitment to Luffy's dream ever since.
The calculations dont really add up though. Roger was 53 when he died. Brook 38 when he 1st died and he was 50 years alone. That would mean roger was a rookie when he was 3 years old? No way he met Roger. Maybe his father or something.
In Current Time Line Brook Age Is 90 And According To Oda If Roger Would Be Alive In The Current Era He Would Be 77 Years Old..
I mean Franky was within 30 yards of Gol D. Rogger, and even talked to Oden without realizing. I wouldn't be surprised if brook has just forgotten/ pushed those thoughts to the side of unimportance.(AKA Plot building) I just expect allot to come out nearing the end of our adventure and hit us will allot at once, kinda like AOT season 3
I believe Toroa And another Island could exist as brook stats long ago he served mean 60+ years ago, His kingdom could have fallen leading to him becoming a pirate while others of the kingdom seeked refugee in Toroa and over the years turned it into their out keeping the same cloths custom as well and the pride and expertise in music. 6:52 I have an idea for luffy's dream. His dream is "I'll be the Party King." Now hold on, I know this sounds stupid, but listen to me. I got the idea when you mentioned how Luffy has prattled on and on about having a musician since the east blue, I connected it with your video on what Luffy's and Roger's dreams might be, and how the dream needs to be simple enough for a small child to think of, AND something that would dumbfound Whitebeard and just make Oden laugh. And to those of you who'll say "Oh but Shanks didn't give him the hat until After he said he would be king of the pirates." Exactly! Shanks didn't give Luffy the hat until AFTER he said he would be king of the PIRATES! Which is a whole other promise to fulfill, AND it would be clear to ANYONE after Roger's succession to the pirate king that the only way to be the party king would be to go anywhere and everywhere in the world and have a party there. But making that second promise to Shanks would mean he would do it at a pirate. THE EXACT SAME THING THAT ROGER DID, HE WENT TO EVERY ISLAND IN THE WORLD AS I PIRATE AND PARTIED IN AS MANY AS HE PHYSICALLY COULD. The reason he wanted a musician since day 1 is because what kind of party doesn't have music? This lines up perfectly with Luffy's personality. Maybe Roger also just loves parties and only way to be called the party king is if someone went to every island and partied there, and the best way to do that is to be a pirate because they go from place to place, party at any bars they come to, don't or rarely have to pay for food and drink, and you can just rob other pirate ships for gold.

During Zou Brook asks the minks if they knew the doctor on rogers ship in a way that suggests he new them, so it wouldnt be suprising if he had met, or at least had a knowledge of roger

"Where did he get a record dial?" "Has he been to Water 7?" I do hope we get to know more about him and if we do, it'll probably be on his way back to Laboon.
