That's a really comfortable superyacht. The beam is impressive. It looks like an all-terrain superyatch (all-seas?). Kind of a modern superyacht version of Jacques Cousteau's ship, cool!
When I heard the line “...operate in -25°...” I had to smile. This type of yacht is my dream. Motoring from pole to pole excites me more than circumnavigating the Med!
"circumnavigating the Med" Yawn factor 100. Macquarie Island? Hell yes! Heard Island and McDonald Islands? Them too! Port-aux-Français, Kerguelen Islands? Pardon, Je ne pal de français. Vou parle vu Anglais? South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands? Can do! Straits of Magellan? OK.
I know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any assistance you can give me
David said he had been shown around by a man, but in the video, unless my eyes deceive me, the person walking with him looked like a female, Admittedly, it could be a chick with a dick. Guess I will never know. :) It will be great to see the mighty Ragnar in the water, It was also nice to hear David say, what I have long suspected, that, unless the superyacht has the word expedition associated with it, it is basically a fair-weather vessel. A freaking expensive toy.
Look at all the people employed thanks to the wealthy owner. Let us all take a moment and thank God for Rich people because without the $$$ rich many/most of us would live in poverty. Awesome video editing this has the quality of a big budget production.
Really good presentation these videos are easily up to Broadcast standards and good to see you have the humility to state you do not know what something is and have it explained
Very interesting project and great to have a fly on the wall view of its progress. I look forward to seeing it when it's finished. In the meantime, keep up the good work, you put out some great content.
I’ve worked on a few refits. If it’s done right the owner could save millions over starting from scratch. The welds look great. Is this being inspected by Lloyd’s?
I think they used Marron EcoDecks? Very good to finally see an owner who does not want highly environmentally unfriendly teak wood on his ship! So no tropical old growth rainforrest was destroyed for this project (Not sure about exotic woods in the interior....). Three Van der Valk yachts were recently fitted with EcoDeck as well
Still with out a doubt a most striking yacht, one of a kind. Hats off to the visionary who conceived this project, truly remarkable . Thank you for the update, much appreciated.
Hi Mr. Seal. I apologize if you mentioned it and I missed it, but do you have any idea what the projected total man hours spent laboring on this beauty (just for the conversion, not the original vessel) are? Thanks and Merry Christmas!
This video is much better than your norm, thank you. I noticed the aviation fuel tank. I would comment. My fuel tank is insulated, for good reason. The last thing you want is a build up of moisture inside that tank, this happens in high moisture environments , with daily build up due to temperature changes making internal tank water, through condensation, which will stop a jet engine dead. Insulation works, so too a layer of nitrogen on top of the fuel excluding the moisture in the first place. It is always better to use stainless steel. Coated mild steel requires maintenance and often flakes off again creating a hassard. Finally, whoever edited this video deserves a medal, following you around I could not help but notice a very shapely female's rear end. Might I suggest it is time for you to retire, in future you take a back seat and let this goddess of the sea speak...
enjoy your show. how does a yard budget for a project like this? there would be so many unknowns in an existing ship. seems like it would be more practical to build a commercial hull from scratch? obviously not but sure seems like a lot of trouble!
Probably gyroscopic, it's an icebreaker hull and so stabilizer fins probably aren't viable. Maybe one could design a fin system that could work with an icebreaker hull if you could devise a robust enough cover for them in their retracted position but from a packaging perspective I would imagine that is something that would have to have been accounted for at the point the hull was initially designed rather than retrofitted after the fact.
Wow, she looks great, considering the original vessel. I am looking forward to seeing the finished interiors and exteriors. Btw David, you look sunburned, aftermath of the Carribbean trip per chance? :) Another top drawer video, many thanks.
Now that is a boat. These explorer yachts are so much more interesting than those med/Bahamas gin palaces. I could never see the point of owning one of those huge and expensive ships and being limited to where you can take it . I think ships like these are fantastic because they really are the embodiment of what a ship should be all about, the ability to truly explore the world, not just the warm, calm bits.

RAGNAR is now in AKUREYRI ICELAND and have been here about one and the half week or so
I have noticed you use the term vessel a lot. A ship rolls outwards when turning like a car; a boat rolls inwards when turning like a motorbike. That's why an ocean liner is a ship and a submarine is a boat. Regardless of the size of a vessel; whether a ship or boat it all comes down how it rolls when it turns. A tender is a boat, a super yacht is a ship.
i wonder is some stupid enough buy a abandoned tanker and ask some won to turn in to a massive yacht for him and family and friends even though there plenty of massive yachts out there in the world
I'm absolutely fascinated by this yacht...! Please, keep us updated and informed as to the status and launch date of this amazing yacht!!! Can't wait for your walk through video, thank you so much for your brilliant videos...
Great video but if I may provide two suggestions: provide more details on technical specs (power, fuel, range, weight etc); and maybe tone the music down a little? Thanks.
Unlike much of the content on RUclips that celebrates the worst of humanity these videos never cease to inspire and amaze me! Humans are doing this unbelievably exceptional work. From Design to the smallest details of construction and seaworthiness it is certainly a pinnacle of achievement. Thank you for shining a light on this.
It would be great to find out what engineers do for Ice Class Hulls for roll stability. Especially in super yachts . A typical super yacht will use zero speed anti roll fins. The fins penetrate the hull below the water and work to keep the yacht stable in rough seas. An Ice Class Hull cannot have any penetrations near the waterline or below it. The crushing pressure ice puts on the hull is immense, any penetration would be a weak spot that eventually will leak over time. So sometimes the trade off for a hull that can crush ice is it’s more roll and pitch. However, I heard there are some other systems being developed that work just as well as stabilizing fins.
These videos are just getting better and better, both in content and quality. My god this video is well made. Bang on
Well done David

Thank you again for the video. 👏♥
Much more interesting than the standard white - on - white 13-a-dozen motoryachts imo! Quite a complex project

Almost 100,000 subscribers, David. 900,000 more and you'll be a qualified buyer when Ragnar is done!

Can't wait to see the finished product, this is basically my dream yacht, I have never been so inspired by a ship!
I will be ready to be picked up on March 1st. Let me know where I can board.
Wow, she looks great, considering the original vessel. I am looking forward to seeing the finished interiors and exteriors.

Happy Christmas mate, looking forward to many more great videos in 2020 👍🍺
Super Yachts .... pitch a series to discovery... awesome video production
Hi David. This build is extraordinary. I hope they continue your tours til the sea trials. Excellent
The company of superb music...perfect video. I wish you could let the world know their names...
Wow it coming along nicely forsure. Thanks for the update, can't wait for the next one.
Whoever the owner is, they are going to have a blast with this superyacht. I am jealous as all get out.
That is going to one heck of a yacht for sure. Great tour keep these exclusives up. Thanks for sharing.
Any actual renderings available?
I would appreciate being able to view finished yacht proposed design images.
Sounds fascinating!!!
I am so nosy about the look-like of the finish of this ship. Specially the interieur!
Love this background and detail video. I can't wait until this beauty is complete!

Can't wait for the moment we will see the tour on the finished project, should be glorious.
Total nonsense from this bloke which is unnecessary. This is not clever, it's stupid commentary.

Had to eat humble pie because you didn't know something?? Soft hands and sunburns should stay in the Med, a little too pompous for my taste.
David, is there a chance for Christmas sale?
Amazing yacht to go amazing places. Thanks for the update
Does it have A Fire sprinkler system installed ?
I love how the latest catch phrase for disgustingly useless people and their excesses is now “Scientific Research!
Any information you can give us on the Azipods?
Ragnar Lothbrok..

How much is the end price for this beast going to cost? Hundreds of millions? Amazing engineering here!🙀
Under 50M plus under 10M for donor. Very smart purchase and build from a smart owner.
If you have to ask _ _ _ _
Can you do a video on refits. I am very interested in them. Love the videos!!
i wonder is some stupid enough buy a abandoned tanker and ask some won to turn in to a massive yacht for him and family and friends even though there plenty of massive yachts out there in the world
Just love this topic you are covering what an exiting venture
Thanks for the walk through! Such a beautiful yacht!
Ha, I bet they cannot change a 10ft dinghy and turn it into a super yacht. lol...
I also wonder how stupid enough to buy a cruise liners buy and pay some yacht company to turn in to a yacht
The yacht for the guy who loves the outdoors. Trade in that rum punch for a Manhattan.
Outstanding Job! Love this one. Thank you.
wow
Will we ever see a walk around of the finished product?
About when is the owner getting the keys for this beauty?

This is amazing 😉 love being one of the first to. You are so lucky to be able to do this.
Thanks!
Great video but if I may provide two suggestions: provide more details on technical specs (power, fuel, range, weight etc); and maybe tone the music down a little? Thanks.
Agreed. The color selection was brilliant.

To cross the north west passage in this ship would be steller.
Great Production!
Totally sick
Sweet!
Pretty cool.
RWD? Rear wheel drive? Odd name for a yacht design company.

Totally missed this one 🤔 this will be epic. Thanks again for being so awesome with these exclusive videos.
A dream job for engineers, and at the same time ... a nightmare LOL These explorer yachts are amazing.
Very interesting and exciting.
AMAZING!!!
Yes thank you for the update and my question is what is the maximum size that icon can build

Next time you’re there tell Willem he’s got a great butt!
What kind of savings did the owner realize re-fitting an existing vessel over building one from scratch?
@Richard Ball Hey troll go troll somewhere else.. your moronic input is not needed.
One day, I will be known as simply... "The Owner"
Perhaps you can charter it sooner.....
