EXTREME VEGAN missing Autopsy
My list would probably be:
10. Gorefest
9. Broken Hope
8. Asphyx
7. Cancer
6. Deceased
5. Cannibal Corpse
4. Possessed
3. Necrophagia
2. Autopsy
1. Death
To me the big 4 of death metal are:
Cannibal Corpse
Obituary
Death
Morbid Angel
Magic Steve I agree but to me Obituary first place 😈💀🤘
@Харьков HoReCa They didn't create Death Metal.
1) Death
2) Asphyx
3) Malevolent Creation
4) Nocturnus
5) Obituary
6) Morbid Angel
7) Cannibal Corpse
8) Pestilence
9) Entombed
10) Autopsy
BOLT THROWER
great band but terrible live though
Ethan Kraus cant say i agree with you, but i havnt seen that much of em live
The 8 dislikes are the members of Vader and Benediction (or possibly Bolt Thrower and Pungent Stench), depending on how you count the band members!
Malevolent creation
1/Death
2/Pestilence
3/Exhumed
4/Vital Remains
5/Obituary
6/Cryptopsy
7/carnage
8/Incatation
9/Gorguts
10)Deicide
Was für eine geile Zeit das war als das ganze Zeug nach und nach auf Vinyl erschien und man immer härtere Sounds erhoffte zu erhaschen !! : ))Sream Bloody Gore !!
Can't disagree, this list is utter perfection
Jack Brown hi again wow
Finally someone with actual taste. Anyone with common sense would know to place Death at #1.
In terms of influence on the genre, for sure. Still though, musically speaking, I don't know if they're a clear cut #1 spot.
that's obvious.... I agree should be placed first and forefront. sepultura should be second though with their old school shit... I'm talking schizophrenia album and so forth ..
it's one man that created that band... through and through ... people tagged along but it was chuck the whole time ...
James Parks Meh. He was a musical genius, and they tend to take control of things. However, Death is much more than Chuck Schuldiner. There have been musicians in that band that were equally respected, like Sean Reinhart, Gene Hoglan, and Steve Digorgio just to name a few.
The Hound what about James Murphy bud if you didn't know he played for obituary death cancer testament and I'm pretty sure there's one more

My most listened to album of all time in the 90's was Obituarys Slowly We Rot so nice to see it in the list.
Excellent list but you could have added any number of bands/albums. Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Carcass, and on and on. Too many great bands to list only 10.
Did I influence this? Lol
Robb Kelley After your post I started watching Entombed videos which lead me here.
Chris Williams Napalm Death is Grindcore, not Death Metal...
stop fucking saying suffocation, suffocation is brutal death metal
***** So is Immolation.
This is a great list. I dont know why everybody has a problem with this. Death sure deserves to be number 1. Autopsy... Chris Reifert and Chuck Schuldiner recorded the first ever Death Metal album together, "Scream Bloody Gore"... if Chuck is the godfather of Death Metal, then Chris was kind of what made the initial Death Metal complete, from all the contributions of Chuck (I'd say Death Metal is 70% Chuck, 20% Possessed, and 10% Chris).
So, Autopsy in my opinion would deserve rank 2 or 3, depending if you want Possessed in this list or not. Personally I dont, but many do... so, whatever. Obituary, Entombed, Morbid Angel and Deicide had to be in this list. Their order can be changed randomly, doesnt matter, only thing that matters is that they are in here. Malevolent Creation is a great Death Metal band, but I dont think rank 2 is good for it... rank 8 or something would suit it better. But hey, the list in general is just great. Only one band I really miss in this list is Dismember. But hey, not every band can be in the top 10, eh? \m/ RIP Chuck
There are so many good pioneers of Death Metal out there... it's hard to pick out my top 10. But I think if I had to replace one from your list, I would take off Deicide and replace them with either Pugent Stench or Carcass.
Great list!
i have the severed survival album by autopsy and really recommend it because it's classic death metal at it's best!!!
Great choices. Still, one can't have osdm top10 without Bolt Thrower in there. \m/
Thats very good list man, sure, some bands are missing but for top 10list is completed.
Great list! Even if you're not a fan of some of the bands (Personally, I despise Deicide) you can't deny the impact they had on the genre. Man, I remember when 'Slowly We Rot' first came out, crazy!! Never was a fan of Autopsy either, but Jayzus, what an evil sound they had...That's the problem with most modern death metal; no indentity. They can all fucking shred, but they all sound the same. I miss the good old days....
I would consider Possessed to be Thrash, but they were an inspiration for the sub genre. I consider Death's,"Scream Bloody Gore," to be the first true Death Metal recording.
I started listening to death metal when I was 12 back in OKC. The greats were the bands that didn't sale out. Doesn't mater what his picks are they all kicked ass when we were kids. Carry the Torch friend.
I approve of Autopsy. And thanks for recognizing Gorguts and Immolation.
The best list I have seen on youtube. Thanks you for Uploading this.
My first Album in this genre was 'Leprosy' from Death and I'll always remember it as one Masterpiece and outstanding. I'd also ad Hypocrisy, Carcass and Unleashed to the list, which I remember as Giants of Death Metal!
by far the best list I've seen good job
brutal fucking list nothing beats Dismember thou "Like an everflowing stream" is the best death metal album ever!! atleast my favorite album!! sorry for bad english cheers from sweden! :)
I'm not sure if this would be considered "Death Metal" but the first two Sepultura albums were cool. Arise sort of borderlined death metal but after that, starting with Chaos A.D. they were basically a thrash band.
Great list man. Love all the bands.
Totally agree, these are the best old school bands!
excelent choices, i don't know if i would have kept the same order, but these bands are a must for death metal.
Entombed, Deicide, Gorguts..my favorites
thats a nice video, im going to tattoo 1 part of the death logo, there is more bands u can add but its still a great recopilation
Good job , in the next top: Morgoth,Incantation,Unleashed,Bolt Thrower....\mm/
very nice compilation. brings me back to my youth. thank u so much
Couldn't narrow down to ten so I did five.
5. Ghoul
4. Cancer
3. Entombed
2. Pestilence
1. Autopsy
Loved your selection, pal. Death (the band) is truly epic
I looked seven churches up and it did remind me of morbid visions...glad you liked repulsion...love finding and sharing new(old) metal...
My top 10:
1. Death 2. Morbid Angel 3. Obituary 4. Entombed 5. Autopsy 6. Amorphis 7. Possessed 8. Dark Tranquility 9. Cannibal Corpse 10. Necrophagia
Great Compilation! But i think the best old school death metal band is MASTER
Solid list mine would be
1. Morbid Angel
2. Death
3. Deeds of the Flesh
4. Immolation
5. Bolt Thrower
6. Pestilence
7. Malevolent Creation
8. Grave
9. Gorguts
10. Deicide
not a huge fan of Morbid Angel. I actually got confused while listening to pandora, and wondered "Why don't i like this song?" listening to Morbid Angel, when i was thinking about Malevolent Creation.
@gombagod Absofuckinglutely!! 'Unquestionable Presence' has to be one of the BEST death metal (if you wanna call it that) releases of all time. Also liked the nod to Immolation - Their first album was a monster...
Solid compilation dude, I would of made room for Pestilence though personally.
My Top 5 death metal bands will always be:
1. Morbid Angel (at least the original Vincent stuff and some of Tucker's era like Gateways)
2. Immolation
3. Death
4. Obituary
5. Vader
I met the Cancer guys a few months ago in Scruffy Murphy's pub in Birmingham. Such great guys, as an 18 yr old i felt starstruck at first
Solid list man. Most people forget Gorguts.
1- Possessed
2- Death
3- Cannibal Corpse
4- Deicide
5- Nile
6- Autopsy
7- Morbid Angel
8- Obituary
9- Carcass
10- Vader
Early Gorguts is super underrated...Love that shit, and love all these bands.
DAMN that immolation song was kick ass, those guys are 100% badass.
Needs more swedish bands like Dismember, Grave, Unleashed but otherwise good video, good band choice. 10/10
Check them out, Repulsion - Helga lost her head, not sure when their first album came out. I had the sepultura and death album, I am going to have to check out seven churches.
Excelent Compilation, Finally one good
amazing top man, congratulations
I find it exiting, yes possessed was the very first death metal band. death metal was named after their first demo 'death metal', and this very song changed metal
Entombed is on there brother, #6!!! I love C.C. as much as any other d.m fan but I honestly like all the other bands he listed more! I'm agreeing with you on Vader and Benediction though... FUCK, why are "top" lists automatically "top ten" lists! arrrggghh lol should be top 20, 10 is never enough.
pure metal ,we rear the musik very clean, inside the ear.quebra tudo.
If you allow me, I just want to say that I agree with almost all you said. I know the newer stuff of Cannibal Corpse with George Fisher is really amazing and with that, they got off that "sameness" they were with Barnes. But for my ears, most of the recent songs are kinda boring to listen, I don't know why. The last album that really made me bang my head so hard was Kill. Even though, I enjoy very much the albums Vile, Gallery of Suicide and Live Cannibalism.
I love Carcass, Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Suffocation and Sinister, but they are Grind / Death or Brutal Death Metal.
You seem to be on every death metal video, dude. Keep it metal. \m/ \m/

I more than half way there dude ! That's without my other vinyl's !
Possessed and Cannibal Corpse should be on this list too.
Pretty good list. I like that autopsy made the top three. I also would have included, Athiest and Nocturnus.
You can clearly hear the step up in class from Gorguts (pretty good) to Obituary (the real deal). Great choices, anyway (didn't think anyone remembered Cancer). Didn't personally care for Deicide - always suspected that people were lulled in by how mental Glen Benton was - but their place here is absolutely justified. And of course, Death at no.1. That's made me want to dig my Scream Bloody Gore album out now! :-)
is the first time I listen to Cancer and Entombed, I liked the bands :) and yeah, Death is my all time favorite death metal band
My top 10 bands are
DEATH
Cannibal Corpse
Deicide
Morbid Angel
Obituary
Atheist
Autopsy
Immolation
Suffocation
Massacre.
Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Dismember, Entombed, Gorguts, Grave, Malevolent Creation, Napalm Death, Pestilence, Unleashed will make top 20 ;)
Yeah the only thing I'm gonna complain about is Suffocation not being on here. Glad you put Death at 1 tho. Also if this wasn't just old school...... early Decapitated. Early Decapitated is AMAZING.
You got it all right, brother. Hail to the fukin old times, without fukin bosses, fukin taxes, traffic tickets and fukin fuck.
Great selection!!! All classicals!!!!
Shit was fuckin epic when Obituary was introduced in this list
yeah he should of made a top 20 cuz theres too many good old school death metal bands out there but hes got a few of my favorites on here deicide obituary autopsy malevolent creation entomber ok there was 5 lol all great!!!
@gombagod 'Close...' is good, eh? Kinda lost touch with them after 'Here In After', but I've been curious to see what their later albums were like, I'll have to keep an eye out for it...
DAM RIGHT WITH THEIR FLESH HE'LL CREATE! im about to drum cover that song tomarrow
death number 1
@KyUuTiP Ha ha, well said!! Cancer was a nice touch, you don't hear much about these guys when you read about classic DM....
Only two I could argue with there, from a personal perspective, are Entombed and Deicide. That's because I never rated them myself I'd put Pestilence ahead of them. Consuming Impulse is immense and Martin Van Drunen's vocals are simply epic. I'd also add Suffocation to that list as Effigy of the Forgotten is incredible.
Play this stuff on the radio today and I'd actually listen to it!
Another really good death metal band is Judecca.
I love your list. I agree 100% with it.
Nice selection!!!
№1 - Morbid Angel!!!! First in time and in music
@deathbox75 I lost touch with them too.Haven't listened to any of their shit since "harnessing ruin" back in 05.but yea, "close" is an extremly badass album. One of their seminal works along with Dawn of possession and here and after.Close to a world below came out in 2000, which is well before I even knew about them.If I had listened to it when it first came out I wouldve shit my pants. Its got a fairly slow almost death/doom sound to it which is probably why I really took to it.
@TheFuneralMist True they are more advanced than they used to be musically. I like the more primitive, crunchy sound they used to have. But yeah they're leaps and bounds more talented musicians than they were in the Barnes era. Really I like pretty much all Cannibal Corpse ha it's hard to go wrong with them.
dude i envy dan seagrave as much as the musicians in these bands. happy to see malevolent on the list
Hmmm alright list mine would be something like this
10. Insanity- Death After Death
9. Massacre- From Beyond
8. Autopsy- Mental Funeral
7. Nuclear Death- Bride of Insects
6. Funeral Nation- After The Battle
5. Incantation- Onward to Golgotha
4. Deceased...- Luck of the Corpse
3. Possessed- Seven Churches
2. Necrophagia- Season Of The Dead
1. Master-
someone without including DEATH in the top 10! (-_-)
+Sajid Sohan this is my list not yours and Death IMO only released 3 good albums in their career but Mantas and the demos is where it's at besides that coming back to this post I can come to conclusion that I missed quite a few good Death Metal like Sadistik Exekution, Necrovore, Krabathor, Death Strike, Abomination, Voor, and Slaughter(Canada) and so on.
+Corpse Desecrator. yeaj probably you've included some of the good OSDM band but not only me,most of the people would disagree with you about death. You arr saying they released only 3 good albums but the true fact is that all their 7 albums are masterpieces.Though they began to change their musical styles at a time but that change didn't go in vain. The result is we got some death classics. When you are saying death is IMO(!) then you are making the biggest mistake and ypu are so wrong dear! ;-)
Well it's a matter of opinion as I'm not drawn into Death's post Spiritual Healing era and onwards people can either agree or disagree with either of our opinions a good number of bands only cite Death's first 2 records as influences such as Gravehill, Incantation and Hellwitch etc and nothing more but then there are bands that cite Death's whole discography as an influence particularly Prog Tech Death bands lots of Neo Classical stuff witch doesn't float my boat but for people who are into that well that's them. Anyways fun debate with you my good friend SBG is a great record my friend's band did a cover of Zombie Ritual!!!
+Corpse Desecrator Actually the opinions vary, and nothing to do with that anyway! Everybody has his/her own choice but none can deny death's greatness.Anyway good talking with you and here in our country,21 musicians from our metal industry are giving a tribute to death covering 17 songs of death from 7 albums on this january 8!
good list, i always have a tough time deciding ten commandants or retribution, both kill
Your list is almost exactly the way I would of put it, yewwww!! \m/
I'm just here to see all the cool album covers
