It doesn't necessarily turn red immediately, so your skin feeling hot is usually a better sign (at least for me) that you are getting burnt. And yes it is painful

Went to Bhutan a couple years ago and we climbed the Tiger's Nest to the top. The thing is, Bhutanese people wanted the place to remain sacred so they haven't built a proper path. Its just mud stairs on the side of the hill. It started raining on our way back and I, for one, didn't have proper shoes :). I slipped every few steps and almost died 4-5 times. Would've died if my uncle wasn't there with me all throughout the way down. The climb to the halfway pit-stop was about 1hr but it took me 2-3 hours to get down from there :). Wilddddddd.
There’s an annual balloon festival in my hometown in that people travel from across the world to come to and it’s crazy to think about. I’ve never been in the air in one but I’ve helped roll them up and they always came to our school
